The steering gear sector shaft had broken entirely through. The wheel and inner and outer steering tie rods did not suffer significant impact. Wheel and steering tie rods do not appear to be bent. Front suspension components do not appear to have physical damage. It is uncommon for the steering gear sector shaft to break and may indicate possible flaw in the mechanical component.
