Check Engine Light On problems of the 2002 Kia Motor Sportage

Coolant gauge not reading or registering thermostat temperature therefore rendering it unfit for clearing an inspection. It causes the check engine light to stay on even if coolant and/or thermostat, sensors,harness wiring wires and other things/parts connect to it has been replaced or checked for problems it still gives a false reading that the same problem is wrong with vehicle. Coolant thermostat not reaching temperature.

In September 04, my 2002 kia Sportage check engine light illuminated. Replacement parts for coil assembly was installed. Two weeks later same problems. The car would shake violently and stall shortly after acceleration. Still continue to get check engine light, (misfires) I am now having trouble with power of engine, transmission not engaging after shifting. After acceleration car shakes and stalls, won't restart for quite some time.

: the contact stated the check engine light intermittently illuminates. The vehicle was taken to the local dealership several times to have the check engine module reset. This remedy worked for several months but the light eventually illuminates again. The local dealer has not determined the problem with the light. Also, the gas tank had a leak in the gas line. The vehicle was towed to the local dealership where they replaced the gas line, however a gas odor still exist inside the vehicle. Updated 2/28/2006 -.

Consumer stated vehicle pulls to the right and the check engine light flashes on and off. Dealer has been contacted.

Vehicle shakes and there is a sudden decrease in speed. The vehicle had been to the dealer for repairs and the problems remained the same. While driving, the vehicle vibrated, then the check engine light came on, and the vehicle suddenly decreased speed from 45 mph down to 5 mph.
