Tire Blowout Problems of Kia Motor Sportage

Tire failure. Total tread separation. Traveling 65mph on a clear, straight state highway I heard a loud band and almost lost control. The right rear tire blew and the tread separated entirely, I was able to recover the entire piece of tread from the roadway. The contact owns a 2000 kia Sportage. Since purchasing the vehicle, the contact has paid for numerous repairs. Before driving the vehicle off the lot, she noticed a large puddle of oil underneath the vehicle. The dealer repaired the failure. The following week, while driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to shake severely. The dealer rotated the tires, but the shaking persisted. Thirdly, a tire blew out and had to be changed. In addition, the vehicle began leaking transmission fluid and a new transmission line was installed. Lastly, the windshield wiper motor stopped working and the entire driver's side glass caved in on the contact, but did not break. There were no injuries. Currently, the glass will not roll up or down. The failure mileage was 86,000. Updated 1/5/09 the gas tank was falling apart. A shield was needed to rectify the problem. Recall 99v325000 concerning stalling. Vehicle was experiencing an electrical problem that interfered with performance. Vehicle was recalled and repairs done, but symptoms returned. Manufacturer claimed no responsibility because consumer was not the original owner. Check engine light was on. The vehicle vibrated, smoked and was overheating. The left front tire blew out. Ignition coils cracked and were replaced. Vehicle had a blown head gasket. Front left turn signal clips broke. Oxygen sensor failed. Right front door lock fell off. Vehicle had several parts on recall before the consumer purchased it and the consumer believed those recalled parts were the source of the problem.

A few days later we met someone in the parking lot of a store and they said the same thing had happened to them but not as bad as ours. Luckily I was able to keep control of the car to prevent any accidents. I have had tires blow before but nothing like this. It felt as if someone had crashed into it. I have a wife, a 2 1/2 year old son, and a 4 month old daughter and I thank god that my wife wasn't driving because I know she wouldn't have been able to control the car because it was such a bad blow out. I know general tires isn't recalling all of their tires because they haven't had any rollovers or fatalities yet, who is going to have to be the first?
