5 Seats problem of the 2025 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

I own a 2025 kia Telluride sx x-line with that is currently under safety recall (NHTSA #26v105, kia recall sc362a) involving both front seatbacks. The recall states that there is a safety issue, but there is no remedy available at this time. I contacted kia corporate regarding this issue and was assigned case number xxx. I spoke with two separate representatives and was told that there is nothing they can do, even if the case is escalated. During my second call, the representative disconnected the call while I was still asking questions about the safety risks of driving the vehicle with my family. This recall involves structural seat safety, which directly impacts occupant protection in the event of a crash. I regularly transport children in this vehicle and do not feel safe continuing to drive it without knowing the extent of the risk or having any interim solution. Kia has not provided clear information about whether the vehicle is safe to operate, nor have they offered alternative transportation while the remedy is unavailable. I am requesting that this issue be reviewed, including kia’s handling of this recall and lack of support for affected customers. I am also requesting guidance on whether this vehicle is considered safe to drive under these conditions. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

9 Seats problem of the 2025 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 02/23/2026

We first heard about the recall and it was listed on NHTSA on 2/23/2026. Today is 2/22/2026, and we have not received any information from kia. I attempted to call kia numerous times. It lists that there is a safety malfunction with the front seats, which could be dangerous if the vehicle is involved in a collision. This is a safety issue, not a convenience issue, and needs to be addressed by kia emergently. It has already been 2 months since the recall date, and there is zero information from kia.

11 Seats problem of the 2022 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

My daughter was trying to get into the backseat of our kia Telluride. She had one leg raised with her knee resting on the stepping area inside the rear passenger door. While in this position, she pressed the handle to fold the rear seat. The lower portion of the seat suddenly swung forward and closed with fast, strong force onto her folded knee joint, pinning it between the moving seat and the vehicle floor. She screamed immediately in pain and could not free her leg. I had to run around to the opposite side of the vehicle (the rear passenger side) and physically lift the seat off her knee to release her. The impact left a noticeable bruise just above her left knee. The folding seat mechanism appeared to move too quickly and with excessive force, and it did not stop or slow down once it encountered her knee. This presents a potential safety hazard, especially for children or passengers entering the vehicle who may accidentally activate the seat handle.

12 Seats problem of the 2022 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 11/19/2025

My 2022 kia Telluride is experiencing several serious safety-related defects. The backup camera does not work, the second-row bucket seats fold up on their own while driving, and the electronic parking brake becomes stuck on and will not disengage. The transmission hesitates and shifts harshly, creating a risk during acceleration and lane changes. The engine is consuming oil between changes. The heating and air conditioning stop working when the vehicle is idling at stoplights, and electrical components including the front phone charger and heated passenger seat have failed. The exterior window trim is deteriorating. These issues are ongoing and have not been resolved by kia. Several of these failures match known defect and recall categories. These create a significant crash and safety risk for my family. I am requesting investigation and manufacturer action.

13 Seats problem of the 2020 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 04/10/2025

We have had multiple issues with this car. First the pearl white peeling off on hood and above the windshield. Second cv3 axles boots leaking on our vehicle and multiple others at the kia dealership. Third burnin oil even with good maintenance records. 3rd sunroof won’t open or close now for no reason at all. 4th back seat now attempts to fold at random times. Even with our kids in the seat. 5th oil housing leak. 6th cel comes on and off randomly causing it to run rough. 7th screen is now to have issues of not working right. We’ve had to pay out of pocket for multiple things. Including the paint. We’ve spoken to service department and common issue they don’t see why it’s not a recall by now. Dealership is no help. Beware.

14 Seats problem of the 2022 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 02/20/2025

My wife must use a cushion or pillow to sit in the passenger seat. This causes the passenger occupancy seat sensor to fail. The seat does not recognize that she is there. The seat belt alert does not chime and the air bag is turned off. I have called kia and they have no fix. I have talked to the dealer and they have no fix. I can not override the air bag and turn it on manually. We have tried multiple cushions and pillows. It does work without the cushion but this is not an option for her body. How can this be safe??.

15 Seats problem of the 2024 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 02/07/2025

The manufactured seat belt and alarm system failed. My seat belt alarm for the 3rd row rear seat fires intermittently while driving when the seat is empty (no one or no items are in the seat) since I purchased the vehicle. I had this issue evaluated at a kia dealership, but they ran diagnostics and "no codes" came up so they did not fix anything. The issue persists. Recently, I had my rear passenger side window broken by a thief and they entered my vehicle when it was locked. The manufacturers alarm did not fire at all.

16 Seats problem of the 2020 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 11/07/2024

Our vehicle was flagged for a service campaign recall for the power seat control switch and seat slide knobs. According to the service campaign, the power seat switch back cover can be dislodged resulting in an internal misalignment of the seat motor control switch in certain conditions. When taken to the certified kia dealership for repair on this recall, we were told the service campaign recall only applied to the passenger side front power seat. The dealership therefore only made the repair to the passenger side seat. Less than 6 weeks after this repair (in Nov 2024), we discovered the driver side power seat stopped functioning in the reverse position. We could move the left driver power seat forward, but the seat would not move backward. This became a significant safety issue as once a shorter person drove the vehicle, a taller person had no means to move the seat aft to safely allow sufficient space for legs/feet on the gas/brake pedals. All other seat position functions worked normal, except for sliding the seat aft on the driver side. It simply would not move aft. The car became unsafe to drive for taller individuals and we had to take it back to our dealership to repair at our cost. The kia dealership verified the seat failed to move in the aft position and they replaced the driver side switch assembly. The recall campaign details seemed to match the symptoms we had on the driver seat; however, our vehicle VIN only correlated the campaign to the passenger side, not both seats. The kia service manager informed us to contact kia customer care as he felt both seats should have been part of the recall given our issues. Kia customer care took note of our issue, but said there is nothing they can do since the recall was only specific to the passenger side of our vehicle. We hope this issue can be resolved for future Telluride owners who may have similar problems given kia would only repair (as part of the recall) the passenger side & not both seats.

17 Seats problem of the 2022 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 09/12/2024

Recall repairs done at original dealership(bought new). Passenger seat components that were repaired started an electrical fire under the passenger seat while vehicle was driving. There was a horrible smell inside the car and coming thru the air vents so I turned the ac off and smoke started billowing from under the seat. Immediately pulled over and removed children from car. Vehicle is available. Incident happened with 1 adult 3 kids in car driving. Dealership towed from side of road and kept in service for 54 days(rental provided) and returned with over 1600 new miles on it with no usage of the vehicle told to me and now the affected seat is not connected into the electrical system of the vehicle. Manufacturer did not choose to inspect. No warnings prior.

19 Seats problem of the 2020 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 08/11/2024

Tonight I tried to open my sunroof for some fresh air while relaxing in my vehicle. My sunroof made some weird cracking noises and is jammed open. I only used my sunroof 2 to 3 times. However, it's in the stuck position and sounds like crushing glass when I try to open it. My rear right passenger folds down on its own. My grandson has been folded into the seat multiple times. I contact kia and got no resolution. This is dangerous. I went to retrieve my backpack from my backseat yesterday and when I set the sear back it made a auto sound, it slid completely forward hitting me in my face. The seat ejects by itself often and it a safety risk to my family and I. I checked kia forums only to find this is an huge issue and spoked about hundreds of times involving Telluride and sorento models. I'm afraid my sunroof glass with break.

21 Seats problem of the 2024 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 06/10/2024

The front passenger power seat folded in on my son while I was driving yesterday without warning. The back rest moved forward causing my son to have to bend over to move with it. At first, the seat would not move but he was able to after a few minutes. I immediately pulled over to ensure there was nothing in the way to cause this to happen, but I did not see anything there. I'm not sure if this is related to the recent recall, but it is a safety risk not only to my passenger but also to me as the driver. I have not had it inspected, and I am available to have it inspected upon request. I called the dealership that I purchased my vehicle from, and they stated that they have no knowledge of this incident happening with any other vehicle.

24 Seats problem of the 2020 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 06/03/2024

I have 2 problems. The first is that my rear seats lift and move. This has been a problem since I purchased the vehicle. However I'm just reporting the issue because my grandson was injured while in his booster seat. The seat had automatically deployed and moved forward by itself 2x causing my grandson to be smashed into the passenger seat and restrained tightly by the seat belt. The back of the sear folds forward and the entire seat moves forward. Both rear seats does this. I have had incidents where my grocery would fly forward while driving because the seat had deployed. My 2nd issue is that the sensor on the steering wheel has always have issues with detecting hands on the steering wheel. I get warnings while driving to place my hands on the steering wheel. Both hands are on the wheel. However is the only certain places on the steering wheel that detects your hands?.

26 Seats problem of the 2023 Kia Motor Telluride

Failure Date: 12/30/2022

VIN: [xxx] owner: [xxx] purchase date: December 2022 I am filing an urgent safety complaint regarding my 2023 kia Telluride. For nearly two years, I have unknowingly driven this vehicle with multiple active safety recalls, including: •airbag wiring harness defect (airbags may not deploy) •seatbelt pretensioner/tensioner defects •front power seat motor overheating (fire hazard) •driveshaft engagement defect (vehicle may roll out of park) kia never properly notified me of these recalls and never repaired them, despite my family using the vehicle daily. I drove this SUV with my autistic child and infant grandchild, believing it was safe. I have now discovered that kia allowed me to operate a vehicle that could: •fail to protect us in a crash •catch fire •roll away unexpectedly •malfunction in ways that could cause severe injury or death this is a serious safety negligence issue. Kia did not offer a loaner vehicle, did not notify me promptly, and has not provided any remedy despite these recalls being federally regulated. I am requesting NHTSA intervention 1. Investigate kia’s failure to properly notify and protect consumers. 2. Require kia to provide a full replacement vehicle (2025/2026 kia Telluride) or a full buyback due to prolonged safety risk. 3. Ensure kia corrects VIN-level recall handling and compliance failures. 4. Document that kia exposed vulnerable passengers (disabled child and infant grandchild) to unsafe conditions for almost two years. My family has been placed in danger this entire time, and kia has not provided a timely or adequate remedy. Please investigate this matter urgently. — [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My car has heated/air conditioned seats. They have started coming on by themselves. My passenger side mirror opens and closes when it wants to. The the auto off works when it wants to. I have the option of turning that feature off but it will turn off anyways. I can also hear my air condition loud and clear when I turn my car off (decompressing I am guessing) it just started when all these other problems started.

There was nothing I could do and since I am a nurse realized that time was of the essence so I would not lose circulation to my dominant hand. I was able to retrieve my cell phone with my left hand and call 911. It took 3 emts to extricate my arm from this terrible design. I currently sustain a bad contussion. I have had been in several times to correct the recall, they noted the seat repaired under warrenty but the service advisor was stuck when retrieving my car. Headlights have need in twice and I’m being told the fix failed to correct the headlights. Wipers stop working intermittently and paint is down to bare metal along windshield and hood. This car is crap. . Rear seat folds up when sitting on it and I am repiadmy told they don’t see a problem. Seats are not electric in the rear. This has a feature of an auto close from the back for loading. And it is triggered when my kids sit in it. Only the right rear captains chair.
