Purchased a brand new 2025 kia Telluride sx-prestige x-line on may 19, 2025. On or about December 20, 2025, my husband was driving (I was the passenger) in stop/start traffic when the engine shut off and the panel displayed “put vehicle in park or neutral and restart the engine. ” since traffic was stopped, he put the vehicle in park and restarted the engine. The vehicle started right up and we went on our way. However, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, the check engine light came on. I contacted the maintenance department at buchanan kia (where I purchased the vehicle). He asked if the vehicle was having any other issues. It was not, so we scheduled a maintenance appointment. I was told we could drive the vehicle, so we did. On our way home, doing 40 mph down, thankfully, a back road, the engine stopped, all systems shut down including steering/braking and the panel displayed “put vehicle in park or neutral and restart the engine. ” my husband was driving, he coasted the vehicle to a stop, put it in park and the engine restarted. We were about 10 minutes from our house. In those 10 minutes, the engine shut off and displayed the message two more times. At this point the engine was running rough and would not idle. I again called the maintenance department and the vehicle was towed into the service department. The issue could not be replicated by the service department and we retook possession on February 3, 2026. I have sent a formal notice to customer care center, kia America, inc. Via certified mail, return receipt requested. I am filing this report as a precaution in the event something happens and someone is injured due to this malfunction.

The contact rented a 2025 kia Telluride. The contact stated that there was damage to the rear bumper upon retrieval. While using lane assist, traveling around a curve at 55 mph, the steering wheel was pushing and pulling, and failed to turn and continued going straight; the vehicle crossed the highway and crashed into a ditch. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact sustained injuries to his back and had bruises, but no medical assistance was provided. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The air bags deployed. There was no reported fire. A police report was filed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The rental company was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000. The VIN was not available.
After receiving my car on Friday morning 10/31 from the dealership, I drove to work, where all my dashboard lights popped on, I lost power steering, and I lost my speedometer (which is what it was in the shop for that whole week). I tried to drive it back to kia and it completely stopped working in the middle of the road, even though it was turned on, it wouldn’t drive or change gears. Leaving me stranded in the middle of a 50 mile per an hour road. I had to call the police to help me maneuver off the road.

While driving and/or starting the car, the power steering will go out, along with all safety lights/messages on dash, including check power steering, check forward collision sensor, check awd, check blind spot sensor, check parking sensor, etc. Only sometimes will turning the car on and off reset the sensor. Other times the car will start and all lights will illuminate and the power steering will not work. Happens intermittently, including while driving. Dealer and mfr have been unable to fix the issue due to the randomness. Additionally they have been able to see the lights malfunction, but the first attempt at repair did not address the issue. Car continues to lose power steering intermittently. Car is inoperable without power steering given the weight.
On [xxx] my vehicle had a collision warning signal, then tire pressure, then brake lights and entire dash instrument panel. I parked the vehicle, then later in the evening test drove it again and the panel lit up again, in addition to the loss of the speedometer, tachometer, gear display, and drive mode display, so I immediately drove it to courtesy kia in altoona, PA. On 4/18/25 wendy giordano of courtesy kia confirmed vehicle intake courtesy kia reset codes and was unable to replicate or diagnose a repair. The vehicle was returned on 4/23/25 despite my expressed concerns over safety. On [xxx] the vehicle again displayed the collision warning and the instrument panel lit up again, in addition to the loss of the speedometer, tachometer, gear display, and drive mode display. I got off the highway and limped the vehicle closer to my home, stopped for a brief time, and proceeded the three miles to the dealership. In this time I lost power steering, and eventually brake lights and turn signals within 1,000 feet of the dealership and was nearly collided with in front of the dealershipon 5/12 I continued to ask status and request a loaner with no adequate follow up. I was bounced between jt, tyler and wendy giordano my service advisor. Around 5/22 I called in requesting an update and was put on the phone with the service tech to describe my issues on 6/6/25 john from courtesy Ford left a 2 minute long rambling voicemail, 6/3 he said he received a fax. He said he spoke to service department and I could drive the car, that I could be driving the car now. "he wasn't sure what was going on with it" they've driven it and can't find anything. Kia is looking at video, service rep there on Tuesday and find nothing wrong. I think, how long and haven't had it long. Suggest you "just drive it, I don't know" in addition I've followed up with numerous emails and calls to determine course of action and repair and haven't had a productive repair plan. The vehicle has now been towed three times, completely shut down while driving three times, with the latest incident being especially dangerous-the car shut off while in drive, the brakes failed, and the steering wheel locked. My [xxx] child was in the car with me, and we were nearly hit by a semi-truck. It was a terrifying experience that could have been fatal. Not to mention when I was able to get the vehicle to stop, the hazards wouldn't even turn on and continued to put us in danger. My Telluride has been at the dealership for 7 weeks, and the service department still has no clear answer as to why this is happening. Kia corporate has been unresponsive, not taking the situation seriously, and offering no resolution or accountability. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Steering column makes a clicking sound when steering wheel is turned right or left.
Vehicle has warnings for epb and lane assist along with active recall for roll away. Cruise control does not work as well. Wheel jerks out of your hand while driving has been to appointment 7/1 in which vehicle was not repaired. Dealer claiming they had no record of a “diagnosis appointment” new appointment set 60 days out.
Very bumpy ride. Shocks had failed. The shock failure was part of another problem from the shock insulator and absorber. The vehicle became very dangerous and unstable to drive at high speeds (freeway). Shock failure and suspension potentially caused additional problems.
I have 2 problems. The first is that my rear seats lift and move. This has been a problem since I purchased the vehicle. However I'm just reporting the issue because my grandson was injured while in his booster seat. The seat had automatically deployed and moved forward by itself 2x causing my grandson to be smashed into the passenger seat and restrained tightly by the seat belt. The back of the sear folds forward and the entire seat moves forward. Both rear seats does this. I have had incidents where my grocery would fly forward while driving because the seat had deployed. My 2nd issue is that the sensor on the steering wheel has always have issues with detecting hands on the steering wheel. I get warnings while driving to place my hands on the steering wheel. Both hands are on the wheel. However is the only certain places on the steering wheel that detects your hands?.
I have an ongoing problem with this vehicle that kia will not address. My alternator was replaced under warranty last April 30 and when I got it back, the cv boot was leaking grease all over the underside of the car. It took 6 weeks to get them to replace the cv boot (June 14). After that it continued to spray grease all over the underside of my car and there is an increasing amount of vibration going down the road. Kia said they didn't notice a problem when I took it back in August. I took my vehicle to an independent shop who said that at a minimum the front passenger cv axle needed replacement but that there is also a lot of play with the lower center motor mount. Kia did ended up replacing both cv axles when I took it back because at that point I had a significant wobble in the front end when I drive at speeds of 40-60mph. When I got my car back from cv axle replacement the problem was improved but there was still a vibration that has been increasingly worse. I returned my vehicle to kia in January and they said they don't feel anything in the drive train but that now my tires have worn unevenly and need replacement. My tires were rotated every 6,000 miles and the vibration/wobble contributed to their uneven wear. I have replaced the tires and an alignment has been done, but it the symptoms are worse. Searching through social media and various sources show that the front passenger cv axles are a common issue for the Tellurides and a lot of people are experiencing similar problems. My suspension checks out. All of the obvious things have been ruled out and the required maintenance has been performed. I have had 3 occasions where there was a noise that sounded like something coming apart going down the road. I have concerns that this vehicle is unsafe to drive. I feel that kia is not going to address this problem unless there is a recall requiring them to do it.
The car steering wheel locks up while driving. All of the safety lights/warnings pop up on the screen and the car steering wheel locks up and cannot turn while driving. This has happened 3 times while driving and it is very dangerous to not be able to steer. It is putting myself and my children (who are in the car with me) at risk when my car cannot steer. It is going to cause a major accident if this is not fixed. The car is a 2023 (one year old) and has had to be towed to the local dealership and then returned to me saying something was a "loose connection". It is once again back to the dealership now for the same problem.
On October 27th we were driving down the road and all of a sudden the steering wheel snatched to the left hard enough to put us over the centerline. My son was driving, he is around 200lbs of muscle and he couldn’t keep it from crossing the centerline. There was nothing in the road that should have caused avoidance and no audible alerts. It did it a second time after we made a turn on to another road but not quite as severe. Dealership was unable to duplicate so nothing was done.
The vehicle started displaying every single warning light stating the engine was shutting down and to pull over immediately. Power steering went out along with power brakes and the infotainment before vehicle could be pulled over safely. All occurred within 10 seconds. I was barely able to pull onto a side street without getting hit. Vehicle completely shut off as if battery was removed. I jump started vehicle but upon removing the jump starter after engine was running the vehicle shuddered and shut off again. The vehicle was towed to kia service and they diagnosed the issue to be a faulty battery. Battery was replaced under warranty and picked up. The next day, the issue occurred and the vehicle shut off. Luckily I was able to get to a safe place before loosing all power. Shortly before the second issue the vehicle displayed a notification stating an engine control fault was detected. The vehicle is currently disabled and waiting to be towed again. I suspect the issue is the alternator as other people say this issue occurred with their alternator on the same vehicle as well. Towing took 4 hours last time and I do not believe it will be any quicker this time. I am without a vehicle until then. This issue is very dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately!.
While driving , the power steering went out making steering very difficult and unsafe. A multitude of warning lights flashed on and off. Several warning icons were subsequently sent to our hone app for a period of 10 days while the car was parked and we were in hawaii. There is an obvious issue with the computers electrical systems that effect safe driving and continue to send false warnings to the app. This steering electrical issue will hurt someone if not fixed.
The horn quit working on the vehicle after pushing on it. Both the low and high horn had to be replaced. The vehciles rear differential was replaced due to continued loud sounds coming from the rear and constant wheel slippage. The rear differential replacement did not fix the issue.
Backed out of my driveway went about 100 yards down the street to make a left turn. I pushed on the brake and every possible warning went off. Abs light, traction control, collision warning, error messages kept coming on. The brake pedal went to the floor. I continued to pump the brakes. Tried to put the transmission into manual mode and downshift. That didn't slow us down. Still continued to pump the brakes. Had to make a right turn or jump the curb into a park. The steering was hard to turn. Pulled the adaptive electric parking brake. Nothing. We were going slightly down hill so had a little speed, but the car came to a rest and the brakes worked. All the other warning lights and error messages kept going off. Turned off the car and started it again. Drove home and it has set there for 3 days. The dealership is always closed on the weekends. I have lost complete trust in this vehicle and in the manufacture.
While in drive, the battery discharge warning was displayed inconsistently, similar to what had occurred sporadically on January 21 and January 23. Without notice, multiple indicator lights started flashing, including low tire pressure, safety features such as check forward collision assist system, and more. Power steering failed, and ultimately had to coast into a safe location. This resulted in a tow to the dealership, where after multiple days, the dealership found that the alternator failed and replaced it under warranty. This could have negatively impacted not only my safety but the safety of others as the vehicle safety features were not operational and I lost full functionality of the vehicle such as power steering loss. All regular maintenance and satisfaction of recalls had been completed by a kia-authorized dealership before this event.
The 2020 kia Telluride was purchased with the "tow package" which included "self-leveling" rear shocks. The self-leveling rear shocks failed early and has created a safety concern with braking/handling/steering in addition to comfort in ride. Concern with the shocks began around 60,000 miles (roughly Jan 2023), but there was no indication of shock failure or leakage. Our independent service center/mechanic told us the shocks looked fine and that typically shocks should never fail this early. We just assumed the ride was rough and even after replacing tires, the ride never improved. As it progressively worsened, the local certified kia dealership has now inspected and verified that both rear shocks have failed (leaking and rusting) and that the ride is unbearable (the vehicle is over 77,000 miles now). I believe the vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current condition and though it is out of warranty for this repair, we are having the dealership replace both rear shocks. Over the course of the past 17,000 miles, braking, steering, and cornering have certainly been compromised due to this early shock failure, putting me and my family as well as other motorists at risk. There were not any warning lamps or other obvious signs of wear other than riding in the vehicle. The ride left most passengers feeling ill, with headaches from a very rough ride even on smoot concrete.
Severe vibration at highway speeds between 60-80 mph on intermittent basis. Low frequency vibration at speeds 40-50 mph on intermittent basis. 10/11/2022 reviewed by service at wasatch front kia, no issues found. Problem continues. 12/16/2022 reviewed by costco tire center, draper, ut. Screw/nail found in tire. Tire repaired. Wheel/tire balance performed. Problem reduced but not eliminated. 01/04/2023 vibration occurred at similar intensity as to prior to 12/16 service.
On a 200 mile drive my serpentine belt shredded causing my car too overheat ac to stop working and leaving me stranded.
