1 Body problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

The hood will not open due to a faulty cable. Land rover issued a TSB - ltb01208nas4 for years 2017-2018. I have a 2019 with the same issue. Dealer refused to perform the TSB, despite me having the same issue. Uploading the TSB from prior NHTSA complaints. Please help.

2 Body problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 02/28/2025

Had engine cooling system repaired at dealer in 2023. In late 2024/early 2025 - engine coolant loss returned. We maintained engine coolant at recommended levels until we could get vehicle into dealership for diagnosis and repair. During routine local trip, low coolant light suddenly came on and immediately following that, engine stopped in the middle of traffic. Wife was barely able to navigate vehicle to safe place alongside the road. Vehicle was towed to dealer. They diagnosed engine failure due to oil cooling system failure. We contacted jlr and they offered no solutions. This is a $40,000 repair on a vehicle worth at most $20 to $25,000 retail. We had to dispose of it to a salvage buyer at an extreme loss.

3 Body problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

At the end of 2022 and early last year, I had multiple issues with the roof of my 2018 Land Rover Discovery coming apart/detached from the roof. On 02/02/2024 a piece of my roof came off again that had already been replaced in 2023. There are four separate roof pieces and this is the fourth time one has separated from the vehicle (I believe three of the pices at this point have deattached). Two times, the roof pieces came off while I was driving on the highway, this could have seriously injured someone, luckily neither time hit a car or pedestrian. Land rover will not accept that this is an issue with the build/body of the vehicle. . Read more...

4 Body problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 01/22/2024

To whom it may concern, I am writing to file a complaint about a serious defect in my Land Rover Discovery vehicle. The defect is a roof leakage near the windshield where it attaches to the body. This causes water to seep into the interior of the car and damage the electrical components. The service technician at the dealership informed me that they need to break the windshield in order to fix the leak and then replace the windshield. The estimate for this repair was around $3,500, which is unacceptable for a relatively new vehicle. I bought this pre-inspected vehicle in mid-2022 from the Land Rover dealership. I have learned from online sources that this is a common problem with many Land Rover vehicles, and that it poses a safety hazard as well as a financial burden for the owners. I request that you investigate this issue and issue a recall for all affected vehicles. I also request that you reimburse me for the cost of the repair or provide me with a replacement vehicle. I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope to hear from you soon. Online sources of other people complaining same problem https://landroverforums. . Read more...

5 Body problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 08/04/2023

July 2023 Jaguar landrover of sarasota serviced landrover Discovery 2018 and checked for defect described in campaign no. 23v393 recall no. N 798. I was told my Discovery did not have the defect. One week later I was driving 40mph with my 12 year old autistic son in the back passenger seat when the door flew open. Fortunately, my son did not fall out of the car and we were not hit by oncoming traffic. The car needed to be towed and over a week later the dealership advised they have no part to repair the car, no loaner to offer me and no explanation as to why my car was checked for the defect in July apparently finding nothing, only to be put in a very dangerous position a week later. As an add on issue, my front passenger window will not roll up. This happened to the window on my driver side last year and was told the window motor needed to be replaced. Now the window on the passenger side stopped working. Is it possible water leaking into the door is eroding the electrical window motor stopping it from working. Can the passenger door lock and the window motor issue be connected? on four separate occasions trim on my Discovery have fallen off in the carwash. I was charged for parts and labor even though it did not seem normal for parts to literally fall off my car from being washed. I would like to be compensated for parts I had to purchase as well as the window being repaired at no cost. At the very least I expected a loaner vehicle, was told there were zero loaners available and have gone 8 days without transportation and secondly I would like to know how it is possible for the car to be checked for recall defect and told the car was safe and defect free.

6 Body problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

Leaking water into the interior through headliner. Researched online and multiple Land Rover Discovery owners are having the same issues. Extremely dangerous while driving.

7 Body problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 03/23/2022

Back rear door latch gave out. Opened back door closed it and started driving. No bells and or warnings letting me know it wasn’t closed. Came to stop and door flew open without warning. At this point car told ne door was open. Me thinking I maybe didn’t close all the way re closed it and started driving. At 35mph around a corner and the door flew fully open again then alarms started going off. No repair invoice as vehicle is still being repaired.

8 Body problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 10/25/2021

I have a 2017 Land Rover Discovery with multiple episodes of significant water leakage problems due to a known windshield seal issue on the model as identified by the dealer. During the warranty the windshield and seal were replaced and would then fail twice, on the 2nd occurrence I instructed to the dealer to notate my account with concerns about electrical issues due to the amount of water that entered the dashboard, center console, and overhead electrical. Reviewing my own service records I can see electrical problems occurred on the vehicle with notes to "let it dry out". The final time this happened was just outside of manufacturer's warranty still within the cpo period, we were told it was no longer covered even though this has never been solved. Dealer stated they've never seen this much water come in, we have significant staining and electrical concerns for which lrna show no concern or remorse. I am uncomfortable being put in a position to sell this car knowing what happened and the potential repair costs (10k+ for significant electrical work) plus the safety concerns of failure. My car has been at the dealer for almost 20 days now with no loaner and no activity on my case. I have spoken to my case worker only twice, once when I opened it and once when she finally answered one of my calls 10 days later. I call every day to ask for updates, the dealer reaches out on my behalf and still no progress has been made. No loaners have been offered, 10 days in I was told I would need to wait another 10 days, plus the dealer indicated at least 3 days to order the windshield (at least 23 days total at the dealership). I believe water entering a vehicle like it did and coming into contact with electrical systems poses a significant threat to the operability and safety of the vehicle with lrna showing no regard for the situation, happily letting myself or someone else get "stuck" with this problem and the potential failure assocaited with it.

9 Body problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 05/14/2021

On two separate occasions, the rear door latch failed on this vehicle, resulting in the door opening unexpectedly while in motion. First incident, left rear door, occurred sept 17, 2020. The second incident, right rear door, happened may 15, 2021. Had anyone been sitting in the rear seats at that time, they would have been at risk of falling out of the vehicle. Both incidents were confirmed and repaired by the dealer. (see attached invoices) in both cases, the door stayed closed just enough such that the open door warning on the dash did not illuminate.

11 Body problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 04/15/2020

There's a water-proofing defect with the Discovery Land Rover (at least 2017-2019). I previously purchased new a 2017 Discovery new, and water entered from the roof and windshield and the dealer replaced it with a 2019. Same issue is occurring - with rain water entering from windshield and roof and flooding interior of car. Appears to be a defect in manufacturing that causes safety issues as water is literally dripping on the driver and front interior while I drive the car.

12 Body problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 01/21/2020

The back left passenger door opened while the vehicle was in motion and when I stopped the vehicle and tried to close the door it would not shut, it would spring open and not latch. This has happened twice now. The first time it occurred one month ago and I took the car to the dealer and they claimed there was no recall and they alleged to have done a reset which they understood would solve the safety issue. Yesterday, approximately one month later, it occurred again. I was driving on a main roadway with many cars around me and I noticed the door was ajar and in risk of hitting the cars driving by me. I immediately slowed down and pulled to the side of the road and tried to close the door and it would not latch close. Both times this has happened I was driving at moderate speed, at around 35 mph, on main roadways with many other cars around me, so it was difficult to immediately pull over and avoid damage and harm. Yesterday, when I pulled to the side of the road, I called the dealer and they told me they would send a towing truck. After waiting 2 hours on side of road, my husband came and taped the door shut so that I could drive it to the dealer. When we arrived at the dealer the service supervisor came out and viewed it and saw it for himself and experimented with the fact that the door would not close, no matter what effort was made. The dealer is in possession of the car now, apparently checking what the issue is and to then find a solution. However, I have no confidence that they will in fact solve this safety issue because it has already happened one time and they said they fixed it and it occurred again one month later. This is a very serious safety issue because I have young children who sit in the back seat and also other people/vehicles could be affected by a door flying open while a car is in motion in a public road.

Component(s): latches/locks/linkages on all doors: right front door latch requires slammed shut and won't open without key trapping passenger inside or fails to latch fully when closing causing the door to "bounce" back off the door seals. ---rear door lock requires key----driver door key broke off inside. Despite my vehicle being a 1996 Land Rover Discovery with only one previous owner, dealer claims my VIN# is not included in recall for door latch repairs substantiated by previous complaints submitted for my year/make/model, so please re-open investigation to include all 1996 Land Rover Discovery VIN#s: similar NHTSA complaint #s= 605132, 823508, 983887, 508953, pe96060, 603247, 602621, 603962.
