1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 12/29/2020

One month after purchasing my Land Rover Discovery I noticed there was a lag time when trying to accelerate when making a turn. I took it to the dealership and they said it should be resolved by updating the system. They updated it but it continued to have the lag issue so I complained again and they said it's the nature of the car. I told them this was very dangerous and they claim they haven't received enough complaints to say it's an issue with car. I also have had other electrical problems such as the navigation screen going blank while driving or not coming on at all and also my remote key fobs do not work all the time. Even with the remotes in my hand near the console the car will say they are not detected. I brought it back to the dealer and they said they were fine. Today, I received a recall from Land Rover stating there are various electrical issues with car where the vehicle could cut out while in motion and may lose all electrical power. I called the dealership to find out they are booked out for 3 weeks so I will have to continue to drive this unsafe car. I think it's very irresponsible of Land Rover to put owners in a position to continue to drive a very unsafe car. These cars should be taken off the road.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 02/13/2019

This vehicle has a very unsafe condition when accelerating away from an intersection, whether stopped or at a low speed, there is a serious lag before acceleration kicks in and the vehicle accelerates. It's like the vehicle is waiting (way) too long to downshift and pull away, and wants instead to slooooooowly build speed which is very unsafe at intersections. The only alternative is to floor it, resulting in unsafe and jerky acceleration.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 01/03/2019

When vehicle is under 10 miles an hour or briefly stopped and pressure is removed from accelerator, when pressing accelerator to move again there is a 1-2 second delay in response. Transmission seems to be in wrong gear then shifts after a delay resulting in car not responding to throttle input then jumping unexpectedly. This is a safety issue when executing left or right turns into traffic since car doesn't respond as expected and normal. Very easy to reproduce this issue.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Laggy acceleration at "rolling stop" speeds of 2-10 mph. 2-4 second delay merging into traffic or turning into traffic. No amount of accelerator will alleviate the lag. Supercharged v6 gas engine.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

New vehicle, less than 600 miles, erratic gas pedal, start at stop sign, car lags/stalls. Been at dealership for 3 weeks, they tell me it is within Land Rover spec. Car severely hesitates when going from stop. Been almost hit broad side three times. This happens no matter if the eco stop/start is active or not. Will not drive this vehicle, very dangerous. Not getting anywhere with dealer for help. Dealer says Land Rover investigating. Also, back up camera non operative, third one installed, still not working and have to order from uk.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1998 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 04/10/2010

Our Land Rover Discovery lost steering and brake control while on highway 99 nb south of the toulumne rd exit. We were traveling at low highway speed (50-60mph) when we noticed the vehicle to begin swerving left and right causing the body to pitch dramatically with no response from steering, when the brakes were applied they were unresponsive. The directional occasional increased while we traveled approx another 500 yards before we hit the edge embankment and rolled over. Engine continued to run in the overturned position.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1996 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 04/05/2010

Abs sytem is faulty. Activation at low speeds, dry pavement, and low or high pressure on pedal. I can hear the pump activate for no reason. I also feel the pedal vibrate and the truck continues to roll. Almost killed a pedestrian once or twice. After it did the same to my wife I clipped the sensors and took out the light bulb in the dashboard. I drive better than the abs ecu computes. No problems since completely deactivating and unplugging sytem. Please include new ranges of vehicles in these recalls. I will be powerless to have this reimbursed otherwise. Also need to re-evaluate recall range for the fuel neck filler problem. My truck was in for the tank recall but they failed to do the filler neck and I have spent years trading out iac, throttle sensors, and maf sensors trying to figure out the problem. Thank you sanfrancisco Land Rover. Sarcasm intended.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2003 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 02/08/2008

This 2003 Land Rover Discovery belongs to a friend. I was driving this vehicle, with her permission, back to our home after having the 60,000 service performed by our local mechanic. I was stopped in a line of traffic at a traffic light near the intersection of bloomsbury Ave. And frederice rd. In catonsville, MD 21228 at around 2:30 p. M. The engine began to "roar/race. " even though my foot was on the brake, the vehicle began racing forward and did not stop until I crashed into the vehicle in front of me which, in turn, hit the vehicle in front of her. No amount of pressure applied to the brake would stop the vehicle. (on Tuesday evening, February 5, when my husband drove the vehicle to be service, this also, nearly happened to him. He was able to stop just before he crashed into the rear of our Dodge caravan. He mentioned it to me as an oddity. ) initially, both of us thought that we had our feet extended over to the accelerator. But after doing an internet search we discovered this recall. I have been in contact with Land Rover which is researching the vehicle and will probably call it into a dealership to have it checked. I am confident that I did nothing to cause this incident and think that Land Rover should be responsible for the damages. Thankfully, no one was injured.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2003 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 10/28/2005

Since buying our Land Rover Discovery in February 2004 we've experienced numerous recalls and problems with the car. Fortunately, it is still under the manufacturer's warranty. The problem of concern at this point in time is as follows: when braking, the Land Rover would occasionally lurch forward a little bit. . . Almost jumping. On oct. 28, 2005 at approximately 2:45 pm I pulled out of my subdivision onto 180th st. In elkhorn, ne. I was heading south towards a stop light at the junction of 180th st. And pacific. There where numerous cars stopped at the light. I believe the light had turned green and cars were beginning to move, but I was still braking slowly starting to move forward as the cars in front of me began to move. I felt my Land Rover lurch forward and my body was immediately pressed back into my seat. At that point the Land Rover made impact with a piece of toro irrigation machinery being towed by the van in front of me and my body was thrown forward. I was wearing my seat belt. My airbag did not deploy. There was over $7700 worth of damage done to the front of the Land Rover.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1997 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 07/04/2004

Surging at fully closed throttle accompanied by abs failure is a real issue with this vehicle. This is a common problem acknowledged by the manufacturer. Prm chip replacement to fix the surge problem should be a safety recall. My 1997 Land Rover Discovery would not stop at a stop light when letting off the accelerator because the rpms surged on the vehicle. Upon attempting to depress the brakes the abs malfunctioned causing the vehicle to continue to accelerate due to lack of brakes and an elevated rpm level. This is an electronic defect that needs immediate attention due to the number of vehicles which experience this problem and the acknowledgment by the manufacturer that rpm surging at fully closed throttle requires the replacement of a revised chip to remedy this. This vehicle is of no use to me because it is unsafe to operate and thus unsuitable for road use. I am seriously considering contacting other sources/media outlets to investigate this common problem.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2000 Land Rover Discovery

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1996 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 12/20/1998

On multiple occasions, applying the brakes has caused the engine to race, accelerating the car while causing the brake power assist to fail. Without power assist, braking requires very high pedal pressure and makes it very difficult to stop the car. Thi.
