The contact owns a 2001 Land Rover Discovery Ii. While driving at 50-55 mph, the vehicle began to shake abnormally. The contact applied the brakes and the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact attempted to stop the vehicle by applying the brakes but to no avail. The vehicle crashed into a cement barrier. The vehicle did not stop but proceeded to accelerate across two lanes and crash into a guardrail. The vehicle was spun rapidly and stopped while facing oncoming traffic. Three passengers were injured and sustained wrist, ankle, neck, head and back injuries as well as whiplash. A police report was available. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact was able to locate a recall for the failure but did not confirm if her vehicle was included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Land Rover Discovery Ii

Failure Date: 07/27/2008

Was stopped w/ brake applied, accelerator pedal accelerated without applying foot causing vehicle to race out of control at a high speed crashing into property and other vehicles. There was no brake pressure when I pumped the brakes to get it to stop.

2003 Land Rover discovery s. Today vehicle surged after applying pedal and would not stop. . . Or should say was very difficult to stop and almost resulted in car plunging into on coming traffic. I know below I've only listed one failure but once is enough it is just luck my wife was able to get the car to the side of the road out of traffic. I called Land Rover north America shortly after buying vehicle to find out if any recalls were listed for vehicle after finding a recall that dealt with exactly the same problem. However they told me the recall did not apply to my VIN. . . Then only a week later I have the exact problem with my Land Rover. While pulling out of a parking space, the engine raced and the consumer hit the vehicle parked opposite of her. The windshield was replaced because the heater was not working.
