According to dealer, the connecting rod became dislodged and forced itself through the engine block rendering the entire engine and all related components (e. G. Supercharger) inoperable and requiring replacement.
My 16 year old son was driving the 2016 Lr4 that we purchased "pre-certified" less than 3 weeks ago from field's lr in northbrook illinois. Going 68 on the highway, the wheel started to lock up, the gas peddle failed, and smoke started coming through the vents. He was able to keep a cool head for a new driver and get to side of road by sheer luck that the road veered to the left. Once in park more smoke came through vents and he and his friend jumped out and ran, while the engine continued to catch fire and eventually blow up, as shown in the video below. Post explosion pictures attached too.
Rear end wandering, must keep two hands on wheel at all times to keep vehicle from flipping over. Vehicle was sold by an official Land Rover dealership in milfor. Ct as an certified pre owned at extra cost. Most inability to keep the vehicle safely on the road I returned to the dealership. Repair order detail states vehicle sold and not caught by the service department beforeit went sales with the front and rear suspension was disrepair. Right front axle was torn. Which only was found and addressed after returning the vehicle and insisted the head mechanic drive the vehicle for himself.
While traveling on I-49 north at 50 mph in kansas city missouri, our Land Rover lost electrical control of car. The car shut down the engine, power steering and power brakes leaving the car drifting without power at 50 mph on the highway. The driver was able to coast the car off of the highway without injury or collision with another vehicle. The car had lights and radio power but could not be started. Once stopped the car's emergency brake could not be engaged, so the driver had to stay with the car to keep it from rolling. The car was towed to the dealer after the event. Five seconds prior to the power shutdown, an indicator light came on that said restricted performance. Other information earlier that day the car had been refueled with premium gasoline the car has a one year old battery the car has had problems since purchase with the keyless entry. Some of the key I have will roll down the windows instead of lock the car doors.
