Engine Cooling System problems of the 1997 Land Rover Range Rover

1 Engine Cooling System problem

The contact owns a 1997 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, smoke began to emit through the vents and the hood. The contact discovered that there was fire coming from under the hood. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 00v328000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

Failure Date: 02/28/2001

New engine, radiator, alternator, transmission.

3 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 03/10/1999

While driving suddenly and without any warning all coolant fluid gushed out of the vehicle. This could hav ecaused driver to lose control of vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealership to be repaired. Vehicle was serviced for the same problem about 18 months ago.
