Gas tank shield has rotted due to galvanic corrosion as the fuel tank shield is bolted onto an aluminum heat shield. The pairing of these two different metals has caused the shield to become unstable and is part of holding the gas tank itself in place. Extremely unsafe.
When driving the vehicle, the fuel gauge came on, indicating the fuel level is low and illuminates the warning lamp, however the tank actually has more fuel (full tank of fuel).
