The contact became aware that the wiper arm was hitting a part of the spoiler that had started to detach. The contact stated that she pulled off the road and observed that the upper cover of the rear spoiler had detached and was hanging down over the rear windshield. The contact stated that the panel located in the center of the spoiler where the reflector was mounted was missing. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 20v623000 (structure). The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

The contact stated that the failure caused the backup camera to become inoperable. The dealer was made aware of the failure and took pictures of the vehicle, then forwarded them to the manufacturer.
