Land Rover Range Rover Sport owners have reported 7 problems related to assist (under the lane departure category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Land Rover Range Rover Sport based on all problems reported for the Range Rover Sport.
The lane assist system causes unintended steering intervention, actively pulling the vehicle toward hazards and off the roadway. The vehicle forcefully steers toward turning lanes, skid marks, and normal road markings, creating a serious safety risk. This behavior occurs at speed and is terrifying and dangerous. The same behavior occurred in a range rover loaner vehicle of a different model, indicating a systemic defect rather than an isolated issue. Due to safety concerns, I have been forced to disable lane assist to prevent loss of control. The issue has been presented to the dealer multiple times and remains unresolved.

The vehicle has multiple safety and operational defects that remain unresolved after four service visits on April 10, may 28, June 19, and August 2, 2024, totaling more than 30 days out of service. Lane keep assist malfunctions unpredictably at highway speeds—at times making abrupt steering inputs without warning or failing to intervene during lane departure—creating a safety hazard. The vehicle has excessive wind noise, suggesting door or glass seal issues. The infotainment system intermittently crashes, freezing or disabling functions including the backup camera and bluetooth phone audio. Dealer diagnostic scans showed 15 ecu modules not communicating and multiple diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) across systems, indicating systemic electronic faults. Despite software updates and repair attempts, the problems persist and continue to impair the vehicle’s safety, reliability, and normal operation.

Vehicle safety and functionality concerns: 1. Steering issues: steering remains uncentered and unresponsive despite new tires and alignment at the dealership. Excessive steering margin, particularly dangerous in rainy conditions, leading to steering errors. 2. As the new generation Range Rover Sport in 2020, it has dual exhaust pipes, but only one side works. The dealer just said it was normal, but it is visually estimated that it will cause serious environmental pollution. 3. Lane keeping assistance malfunction: the feature is almost non-functional, failing to keep the vehicle in its lane even under clear weather and road conditions. 4. Self-closing door hazard: doors lack anti-pinch sensors, causing multiple finger injuries to family members, including a severe incident where a finger was pinched off. This poses a severe safety risk, especially for children.

Adaptive cruise control does not recognize (at times) stopped cars. SUV will accelerate into a stopped car. Similar problem on the NJ turnpike traveling 65 mph with adaptive cruise control. All lanes had a meaningful slow down and SUV continued to accelerate into slowdown. Almost had an accident and had to slam on the breaks. There was no collision warning (should he alerted). The lane assist is buggy and pushes against my natural steering for no reason. It’s constantly trying to steer against my 2 handed steering.
1. The central control display of the vehicle is often black and the map cannot be viewed while driving, which will cause tension and panic and make driving unsafe; 2. The lane centering of the vehicle often does not work, it cannot work normally, and it directly deviates to other lanes; 3. The automatic closing function of the car door does not have the function of preventing pinching. Several of my friends have already had their fingers pinched by the car door. I tried to communicate with them, but they did not check. You just have to be careful yourself, this has taken its toll on the body multiple times and without any warning lights. All of the above situations have no warning lights, have not been inspected, their manufacturers shirk responsibility, we have email communication details, they let me sue through lawyers, and they will respond accordingly, which makes me unable to understand. They ignore customers' life safety.
The vehicle has a incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality detected warning only have 249 miles before no engine starts. Vehicle currently has 83,000 miles on odometer. Dealer stated that I needed a catalytic converter and nox sensor cost $2800 the land keep assist, lane departure warning and front facing camera are all inoperative.
