Had a recall. I wasn't available on the date or a week or so after the appointment date. An ex of mine that had no authority to take my range rover into the dealership for the recall to get fixed, used my driver's license to get a rental Land Rover to use while my range rover was supposedly being fixed for the leaking fuel tank recall. So, Land Rover didn't care that it wasn't me getting to drive a $70,000 Land Rover while mine was getting fixed for recall. I figure out what happened & where my vehicle was & got the rental back to me in order to go get my vehicle back. I got to take it home,2 days later transmission messed up wouldn't shift out of park, started over heating,& I had to pull it with a rope from the store back home to park it. When I looked under the vehicle cause I was trying to figure out why it was majorly overheating, I then realized the gas was just pouring out near the transmission pan, which is where the fuel line runs from the top of the gas tank. My recall was for the fuel tank leaking originally. Now, Land Rover refuses to fix this major safety hazard/defect, stating that the gas pouring out doesn't stem from the recall. Which is complete bullshit! nothing was wrong with my vehicle when I bought it only a few months before I received the notice about the recall. Now, I can't drive it & it's sitting at the dealership that did the recall & didn't fix it. They towed it 2 days ago to their shop & called me the next day saying that the fuel pouring out & overheating doesn't have anything to do with recall or what they've done. Which is a lie. So, now my car is sitting up at the dealership off of dfw airport & they are expecting me to pay to get it towed back home & that they aren't going to fix my vehicle that they have totally destroyed. I can't get anyone to talk to me or return my calls. I can't get anyone to help me with this. They just hang up or give me a hard time about it & are denying what they have caused for my vehicle. Please help me!.

The contact owns a 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that the vehicle was recently repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 21v635000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the "transmission fault" warning light illuminated, and the engine temperature gauge indicated that the engine was hot. The contact pulled into a filling station and checked the coolant reservoir. The contact stated that the reservoir was slightly low, and she added a pint of water. The contact stated that the fluid started leaking underneath the vehicle near the front of the transmission. The contact later became aware that it was gasoline that was leaking. The contact became aware of the failure while refueling the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer, who requested that the dealer pick up the vehicle. The dealer towed the vehicle to the service department. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
Oil leak and coolant leak took it to dealership while under warranty and they claimed no issues even though I saw the stains on my garage floor and had gear shift issues and black out info camera as well. Car under 70k miles and not end of warranty date but is the end of warranty mileage. Didn’t feel safe on the freeway, had power loss when it was time to restart the car and had smoke under the hood which may result in a fire in the engine compartment that could spread throughout the vehicle. This issue has led to power loss and difficulty controlling the vehicle, increasing the risk of accidents.

I reported issues with my car stalling, front and rear camera going blank and smoking under my hood, in addition leaking coolant. I immediately requested for the dealership to inspect the vehicle and I smelled coolant and saw the coolant on my garage floor the dealership stated they did not find anything. This occurred during my first oil change at around 6,000 miles. It happed again at the second one as well. I had the same issue when I got my oil changed amongst other issues no issues detected. I went to the dealership to get an oil change and the code p00b0-49 was showing the dealership asked if I wanted to pay $265 to diagnose the vehicle I stated I would not because these issues didn’t happen overnight and there could be potential recalls not addressed when they should have been.
My car has manufacturer defect / crack on steering knuckle. There has been recall in uk and canada. Why not in states? driving with crack / defect in steering knuckle is extremely dangerous. It has been proven that this has caused by over tightening the nut bolt. There are so many Land Rovers have this reported issues. Here is link: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Land rover has been made aware through several complaints that there is a widespread issue with their vehicles that requires recall. Thousands of customers have reported issues in their vehicles with cylinder 4 cracked pistons resulting in engine failure. Land rover refuses to address the issue in their vehicles causing this malfunction and costly vehicle repair. Land rover needs to issue a recall to address and rectify this issue in their vehicles as this issue results in the vehicle losing speed and coming to a complete halt with no warning from the vehicle. This could result in death of multiple people and cause crashes. It is highly dangerous and needs to be addressed by Land Rover with urgency.

Here's an improved version: --- while driving on m59, the main screen turned off unexpectedly. I exited the main road and pulled into a strip mall outside a costco. The vehicle then completely stopped and shut down. The hazard lights were not functioning, and I couldn't restart the vehicle. After waiting for 5 minutes outside the car, I got back in and called the local dealer, Land Rover of troy, michigan. While on the phone, the car suddenly turned back on as they were answering. This incident happened yesterday, and I want to ensure there's a record of it because it was extremely dangerous. ---.

The contact owns a 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the contact became aware that the two-wheel drive-only message was displayed and traction warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500.
While driving home on the evening of June 27, 2023, a distance of about 15 miles, the low coolant light suddenly came on, and as we tried pulling over on the next freeway exit, the engine appeared to seize and cut out. It was difficult to brake and steer the car and we were nervous to get in an accident. We came to a rest off the freeway and then officers helped us push our car into a nearby auto zone. We left it there overnight to rest and when we came back the next day, the engine would not start. Had it towed to a nearby independent service center where they determined both engine heads had blown. The car is available for inspection. I have called the manufacturer to see if there were any recalls related to this and found a p055 recall for this model. The description in this recall is very similar to what we experienced.
While driving vehicle suddenly started to rub or grind. I proceeded to get off highway and was left stranded! luckily this failure happened at a point of highway where I could exit! I believe a faulty transmission input shaft is the reason for the broken vehicle.

I was driving the car on March 11th 2022, at around 10pm when the car suddenly lost power, while driving in a rural area of interstate 5 in northern California when the vehicle lost power, I was unable to see anything at all and had to pull to the shoulder unsure of what was on the shoulder. Dash display stated "headlight detected" and the vehicle shut off. Everything was off including, power, lights, engine, and the vehicle was unresponsive for 30 minutes. After about 30 minutes, the car started up and I decided to drive it. Furthermore, after about 1. 5 miles the issue repeated and the car shut off again. Car was off for about 5 minutes, at this point I decided not to drive the car as I felt it was dangerous. The night of March 11th, the vehicle was towed to the nearest Land Rover/range rover dealership and was diagnosed on Monday the 14th. The dealership diagnosed the vehicle with a defective battery. The battery was replaced and I was assured that the technician was certain the issue is resolved, and they have experienced it with other Range Rover Sports in the past year. I picked up the vehicle on March 16, 2022. Today, March 19, 2022, while driving the vehicle around 1pm the vehicle, the dashboard displayed “headlight fault detected” and the vehicle was once again shut off, including all the electronics. I do not consider this incident to be as dangerous as it was during daylight and near my house. However, the earlier incidents were very hazardous as it occurred at night, with no vehicle lighting or street lighting in an unfamiliar area. I am not confident driving this vehicle at all, as it could lose power at any moment. Thankfully in this time, the vehicle was in a safe area, but this incident could certainly have happened in the middle of a turn, in an area with no shoulder, or in a construction zone. All of which would dramatically increase the risk of significant injury.

Dear NHTSA, I am filing a complaint about a serious safety defect in my 2020 Range Rover Sport, VIN salwr2su1la724962, leased from Jaguar Land Rover north dade in miami, FL on July 15, 2020. The defective component is the engine control unit (ecu). On June 8, 2020, just 3 weeks before I leased the vehicle, the dealership replaced the ecu at only 18 miles due to a defect. However, they did not disclose this critical repair when representing the vehicle as "new. " I experienced persistent issues related to the faulty ecu including check engine lights, power loss, misfiring, and excessive oil consumption. Despite multiple repair attempts, the dealership failed to properly diagnose or fix the underlying defect. The faulty ecu caused complete engine failure at only 38,427 miles on March 2, 2022. The failed engine and ecu are available for inspection. Repair records confirm the pre-lease ecu replacement. An independent mechanic diagnosed the root cause as the defective ecu. This defect poses a severe safety risk of sudden engine stall or failure. There were warning signs the manufacturer and dealer failed to resolve. The dealership's misconduct in concealing the defect and leasing a defective vehicle caused me extensive damages that could justify punitive damages. I request NHTSA immediately investigate this defect to protect other range rover owners from these safety risks. Please contact me for any further information. (650) 797-8441 attached files: see exhibit c where the dealership replaced the faulty engine control unit ("ecu") - which is the brain of the engine. See exhibit 1: my letter pleading to the manufacturer: Jaguar Land Rover north America, llc see exhibit b: all repair orders - same frequent issues "ecu".

Vehicle hesitates on accelerating from low speed. It is extremely dangerous and I have nearly been broadsided a number of times. From a rolling start at low speed, depressing the accelerator pedal has no effect. . It feels like an eternity until the engine comes to life. I would say at least two full seconds. And when it finally does come to life, it can be a neck-snapping shocking jolt that will cause passengers to scream. It is my belief that Jaguar Land Rover north America is aware of this issue but has not addressed it for 2018+ l494 Range Rover Sport's with the 5. 0l supercharged v8 engine. I have had the vehicle in at the dealer a number of times for this issue and they state that there is nothing wrong. This vehicle has 518hp and when the powertrain hesitates to respond to the accelerator pedal being depressed, it exacerbates an already very dangerous situation by ultimately slamming the car into gear in a very violent way. The powertrain / transmission is certainly not behaving normally. This is my 3rd Range Rover Sport with the 5. 0l v8 engine, and neither of my two prior vehicles experienced this phenomenon. It seems to be applicable to the 2018+ models only. This must be fixed by Jaguar Land Rover!.

Car jumped forward while coming to a stop. Almost hit a child crossing in the crosswalk. Also happened numerous times coming to a stop at the off ramp. Engine idles very rough, high pitch idle, and rpms surge up and down on their own. Dealer won’t believe us. They don’t want to use resources to fix what is covered by warranty. This car is a danger to drive. Has also stalled unexpectedly. Dealer only looks for software update and warning lights. We’ve never had a warning light and updates do absolutely nothing. Forums show others are experiencing the same thing. Dealer said they cannot spend that amount of time to find the problem. This is a liability and major safety issue that range rover needs to be addressed. Car has 9000 miles. Car shutters and bounces. Rpms unpredictable and car has idling issues. Please help -we don’t want to hit someone because the car unexpectedly lunges forward.

Rattling noise from the timing chain. It is a very well known issue due to the use of substandard tensioning rails and guides. Failure of the timing cha8ns causes camshafts and crankshafts to go out of synchronization and lose power, or cause the piston and valves to slam into each other. Land rover issue a TSB 2015 recognizing this issue TSB ltb00474nas3. Moreover my vehicle's VIN number falls within the aforementioned list.
On multiple occasions vehicle has been in reverse as indicated by gear shift and dash yet the vehicle has moved forward as if it were in drive instead. Reported to dealership and manufacturer without resolve.

Within the first weeks of ownership failed to reengage the transmission after the eco feature turned off the engine. Eco feature turns the car off when the car is stopped in traffic or a stop signal to save fuel etc. When this occurs the car will not respond to gas pedal being pushed and the car does not go. The car has to be turned off and restarted to get the transmission to engage. This takes several seconds to do and creates a very dangerous situation. I have contacted the salesman at the dealership and he said he has heard this happen to others but they do not have a fix yet.
The vehicle within the first weeks of ownership failed to reengage the transmission after the eco feature turned off the engine. Eco feature turns the car off when the car is stopped in traffic or a stop signal to save fuel etc. The dash board and gear shifter displayed a flashing ¿d: indicating a failure of the transmssion. Traffic has to go around the car, creating a very dangerous and possible life threatening situation.
The vehicle within the first few weeks of ownership failed to operate while driving on a freeway in stop and go traffic. After being stopped, the vehicle transmission or engine seemed to malfunction and the car was stuck on the freeway with traffic moving around the car, creating a very dangerous situation. I was informed that the vehicle VIN was part of a group of vins that received bad software that caused the problem. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle appeared to operate normally and it was ultimately taken to the dealership for repair. The vehicle has also experienced certain electrical problems starting on the first day of ownership.
On 18/03/2013 5:50 pm, the car lost power & stopped suddenly when I was driving in a shopping plaza. Thank goodness I'm still alive! the car stopped in the front of marshalls (so I have lots of witness). Peoples were trying to push my car to parking lot because the car blocked the traffic but we couldn't move the gear to n. I finally re-started it after more than 10+ times trying. The car was sent to dealer by truck. However, no feedback from range rover yet (23/03/2013), no range rover man cares their customer!!! it's abviously a power or engine big problem. The first time I couldn't start the car was on 14/03/2013, put rangd rover roadside assistance only sent a jump start help to me. But it's not caused by the battery because I restarted it after 10+ times trying. Want to return the range rover junk.
