Suspension Problems of Lexus ES

I am reporting a potentially serious front suspension failure involving my 2022 Lexus Es 350 with approximately 65,000 miles. The vehicle was at a Lexus dealership for service when I was informed that both front strut assemblies had sheared while the vehicle was raised on the lift. The dealership advised that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and that both front strut assemblies required replacement. The dealership has indicated that corrosion may have contributed to the failure. However, approximately 10,000 miles earlier, the vehicle had undergone service/inspection and I was not advised of severe corrosion, structural deterioration, or an unsafe condition involving the front suspension. I am concerned that two front suspension components on a relatively recent vehicle could deteriorate to the point of structural failure without prior warning. Had this occurred while the vehicle was being driven at highway speed, the consequences could potentially have been serious. The exact cause of the failure is still being evaluated. I have asked the dealership to preserve the removed strut assemblies for possible independent inspection. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA can document the incident and determine whether similar front strut or suspension failures have occurred on other Lexus Es vehicles.

On may 13, 2026, while traveling at approximately 31 mph under normal driving conditions, a critical right-front suspension or steering component suddenly suffered a catastrophic structural failure on its own. This spontaneous mechanical failure caused the vehicle to immediately and violently veer to the right, rendering the steering ineffective and resulting in an unavoidable collision with two parked vehicles. The vehicle has been determined to be a total loss. Furthermore, during the crash event, the front passenger-side seat-mounted side airbag and side curtain airbags deployed despite the front passenger seat being completely unoccupied. Conversely, the driver's front steering wheel airbag failed to deploy completely during the impact. A corporate inspection by Toyota motor north America/engineering analysis associates confirmed severe, localized separation of the right front strut, knuckle, tie rod end, brake line, and abs wiring. Toyota is currently utilizing its own interpretation of the event data recorder (edr) steering/speed metrics to deny component defect liability, attributing the structural suspension failure to post-crash forces rather than pre-crash causation. I am filing this report to log a potential structural component defect in the 2016 Lexus Es 350 front suspension/steering assembly, as well as an irregular supplemental restraint system (srs) deployment pattern, which presents an unreasonable safety risk to drivers.

The component that failed is the under engine cross member. This is available for inspection. My safety was put at risk due to the cross member being bent so much that is didn't screw back in correctly, thus could have caused the engine to have fallen out of the car or worse. The problem was reproduced at hendrick Lexus kansas city. This concern was confirmed by the technician along with a video. The vehicle was supposed to had been inspected the first time at park Lexus to certify it as a certified pre owned by Lexus, 200 point inspection. After a week of me owning the car, I sent it back to parker Lexus for a rattling noise coming from the drivers side area. Parker Lexus said everything was fine with the underbody of the car. This is the second time. The third time. I took it back to parker Lexus again for them to locate the noise again. Again they said everything was fine with the car. The fourth time I took it to hendrick Lexus kansas city for them to look for the issue. They verified the issue and said that the cross member, under the car, was bent all the way back and including the hole where the bolt was supposed to go. Hendrick Lexus also said that who ever had looked at it before had put felt on the cross member to alleviate the noise coming from the under the car. No warning lamps, no other symptoms prior to failure. The problem first arose the day of buying the car 10/31/2025, driving it home.

Authorized dealership service department (Toyota west/germain automotive group) performed structural repairs and released a vehicle back to me as safe. I operated this vehicle on public highways with my child. Upon subsequent inspection, the same dealership declared the vehicle a 'total loss' due to structural frame damage caused by their own technician. The dealership knowingly allowed a structurally compromised, unsafe vehicle to be driven off their lot without disclosing the safety risks.

Theft & billing fraud on oct 24, 2025, the dealership charged me $455. 00 for labor to install rear sway bar links. I provided my own parts. The technician (maciah houpe) failed to install the parts but still charged me. He later admitted via text message: "I did not do your rear links. . . You didn't pay for rear links. " the dealership has refused to refund this money despite the written confession. ?2. Property destruction during the attempted repair, the technician used excessive force and bent the vehicle's "wheel rod" (tie rod), destroying the steering geometry. The technician later admitted to a witness that he was fired for "bending the wheel rod" on my vehicle. ?3. Reckless endangerment (safety violation) the dealership released the vehicle to my family on oct 26, representing it as "safe. " after a near-miss incident on [xxx] where the steering failed at highway speeds, management admitted to my wife that they knew the vehicle "might be lucky to make it to the north side" before failing. They knowingly released a vehicle with a critical safety defect onto a public highway. ?4. Retaliation when I contacted Toyota corporate to complain, the technician texted "you blew up the spot coming through Toyota. . . They can't help you. " the dealership then revoked a "cure offer" (towing/rental) purely as retaliation for my consumer complaint. ?attached evidence: please see the attached "master case brief" and "exhibit a" (pdfs). The front control arms, their bushings and ball joints are failing. My car only has 125k miles on it, but it drifts and bounces around as if there is no struts at all. It is very scary to drive, it feels like something terrible is about to happen like a wheel snapping off and causing accident. I took it to several mechanics. They say it will cost $1,700k to replace one control arm! $3,400k for both. The rubber bushings are completely deteriorated due to the rubber being bad. (my dashboard is also melting, and the rubber weather stripping on all of the doors/windows).

Not sure if I have the right things checked. Starting about December 2022 I experienced the car "lunging" forward upon putting the car into drive, after having backed out of a parking space. It continued to do this off and on even through today. It seems to do it most after the car has been sitting for a good length of time. Perhaps overnight, or while I've been in a shopping mall 2-3 hours. I have four invoice tickets from the Lexus dealer where I brought the car in specifically for this problem. They had someone to drive it with me in the car, and of course we were not able to duplicate it at that time. I left the car with them for 3 days on one occasion. And when I returned, they said they had driven it, and did not have the problem. The occurrence has become more and more often. When it started, it was like a few times a year. And now it is almost daily. My concern is that if I happen not to have my foot over the brake as I am coasting, after backing out of a parking space or my driveway heading down the street, and someone is in front of me that the "lunge", depending how close I might be on someone could cause me to ram into the back of their car. I also taken the car in on more than one occasion and have the invoices to support this to say that the car has a very rough ride I call it "bumbling". Again, they did not feel it. However, two years ago, they said, OH, you just need new tires. I bought them. Less than year later, those tires were worn and they said, I needed new tires. I was able to get deal with the michelin company and only had to pay twenty five percent of what it costs for a new set of tires. So the bumbling is still going on. After purchasing new tires about a year ago. I conclude that there is something wrong with possibly the transmission that causes the lunging and the bumbling has something to do with the suspension. I am not a mechanic, and I have not had it looked at by another mechanic. I need some resolve for this.

Severe vibration from 30-70mph when acceleration, outboard boot split/slinging grease on left/right sides. Cv axle has alot of movement. Right and left axle shaft needs removed and replaced.

The braking, steering and suspension components are malfunctioning and are extremely rusted. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety as well as my passengers, other motorists and pedestrians with children and pets on the roads and highways safety is compromised due to the vehicle violently and unexpectedly pulling left and right, losing contact with the road over rough road surfaces and shaking uncontrollably during deceleration. I cannot state with certainty that the dealerships have reproduced the problem and I have not been given written permission to take my vehicle to an independent service center after numerous complaints. I cannot confirm that the vehicle or components have been inspected by the manufacturer, however no police, or insurance representatives have inspected my vehicle. There were no warning lamps or messages displayed on my vehicle's instrument panels, however, there were symptoms such as shaking, rattling, uncomfortable and uncharacteristic handling and a feeling of a serious problem or defect prior to the suspension lower arm assembly being replaced and diagnosis of broken steering column bushings, circa 2021. As of today, the low tire pressure light stays on constantly.

Car was bought new in sept of 2009 my wife drives in town and it only has 27000 miles on it and the two front tires are showing steel belts on both inside of tires,pretty on safe. Have been told it is how the car is set up. The problem will keep happening. My wife would not told me but she heard something slapping. Checked it out and found both front tires are bad and dangerous to drive with. What happen if she was in and accident?.

Cars pulls to the left when on freeway. Lexus dealer where I bought car has determined that because I'm over weight it pulls to the left. They determined that almost 2 years after I bought the car. Every time I brought it in they said nothing is wrong. The told me the caster was off and was going to fix it then they said the caster was fine and it was me being over weight I'm about 350lbs. My car still pulls to the left and they misaligned my car telling me it was going to fix it. Left is at 1. 8 right is at 1. 5.
