When starting the Lexus ES 330 2004 for the first time in the day it makes a horrible sound that lasts about 5 seconds while still parked then when driving it seems like I am forcing it do accelerate. After being warmed up it is fine and after subsequent starts it does not make that noise.
Engine caught on fire. Was driving on a city street when I noticed flames shooting out under the hood.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Lexus Es330. The contact stated that there were odorless fumes emitting into the vehicle with no warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who diagnosed that the exhaust system was corroded which caused fumes to leak into the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who determined that there was a failure and provided an extensive repair of replacing the entire exhaust system. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,038. Dyd.
In city traffic, acceleration with my 2006 Es330 is not predictable and it hesitates rather than responding appropriately as the gas pedal is pressed. Has also happened as I am trying to accelerate to merge into traffic. Occurs sporadically and is very unpredictable. Can go weeks without it happening. No accidents due to this - yet. I have taken car back into Lexus dealership and got a canned response of it adapting to the driver patterns and it is responding the way it is supposed to - basically telling me that my problem is not a problem. I will not buy another Lexus and will probably get rid of this one much sooner than how I normally keep vehicles.
My 2005 Lexus ES 330 caused the most horrible accident yesterday. I am lucky to be alive! I started my car and put the gear in reverse and proceeded to put my foot on the gas pedal and it accelerated to such at high speed backwards, I took my foot off the pedal and the car still proceeded to accelerate, I hit the brakes and it still wouldn't stop until I slammed into a tree. I was completely helpless. If it weren't for the tree, I would have gone into oncoming traffic on the main road. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital and am pretty banged up. My neck & back are in excruciating pain and my hand must have slammed into my side window and is cut, bruised, and swollen to 5 times the size of my other hand. The police had my car towed and the whole back of the car was crushed almost to the back seat with the rear window shattered. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. The next person may not have a tree to stop the car and may not survive.
