Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Es350. When the vehicle was started, the low tire pressure warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (wilkie Lexus in ardmore, PA, 610-365-1271) for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed because the contact would be responsible for the repair cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags). The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
I had a new mastercraft tire (215/55r17 touring lsr) installed on the passenger front side of the car on novemeber 17, 2011. On December 31, a car wash attendent notified me that I had a bubble on the sidewall of above tire. I was told by the installer of the tire that it was proably due to some kind of impact to the tire. Professional opionons found on the internet indicate that although sidewall separation/bubbles can occur from curbs and road hazards, it also "may be due to component contaminaion of incomplete bonding during manufacturing.
