Two problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 2009 Lexus ES350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Takata recall. Lexus Es350 2009 owner and vehicle residing in SC. Owner scheduled replacement of passenger side airbag with hilton head Lexus dealership. Airbag replacement was available at the dealership but Toyota refused to authorize repair because my Lexus was originally purchased in NJ.
2009 Lexus ES 350. Consumer writes in regards to passenger side air bag design issues. * smd the consumer stated the passenger air bag sensor, did not recognize her sitting in the seat. Over the years, the dealership has checked the sensor, calibrated the sensor, replaced the front passenger seat and sensor assembly and on the most recent visit, a Lexus engineer was called in to evaluate the problem. The consumer was informed the sensor was calibrated for a 70 pound load; however, due to a flaw in the passenger air bag system for this model year, it did no consistently sense a passenger weighing slightly above 100 pounds. The dealer stated they could not adjust the sensor below the 70 pound calibration point, or repair the problem in any other way.
