My 2014 Lexus ES 350 has less then 4000 miles on the vehicle and the steering has malfunctioned twice and I am now unable to drive the car as it is part of the electrical system which continually freezes up making it inoperable. I purchased the car 2 months ago and as it was certified by Lexus this should not have happened. This is a potentially very dangerous situation. Fortunately I was in my parking lot both times this occurred and not on the highway.

While attempting to make a 3-point turn, I first backed out of a driveway onto the road, paused to check for traffic, shifted from reverse into drive and pulled forward and . Started to turn to my left. As I did I experienced a loss of steering and brakes and the dashboard indicator lights all lit at once. My car drifted across the center line and I was unable to stop it from rolling to the other side of the road where it ended up perpendicular to oncoming traffic and only stopped when it hit an embankment. My car sustained front bumper and grille damage.

Oil dumped out crossing a very long bridge & engine froze up/steering hard to control. . . Due to a defective vvti_oil hose rupturing. . Both Lexus & Toyota were aware of this problem & had issued a "limited service campaign" that ended on March 31, 2013. . Both refused to fix my car that with rental cars, cost me aprox. $7,000. 00. . This was a rubber hose, that both mfgs. Knew about and both CO. Continued to replace these faulty hoses, with another "rubber hose", even tho' there was & still is a metal hose that is recommended!! I had posted this problem with ya'll, shortly after, but, do not find records of. . But, aproz. 2 weeks ago, I received a notification from Lexus stating," they had decided to re-open this "limited service campaign" to extend to Dec. 31, 2021. . A day too late & alot of $$$$& time spent. . Even tho' Lexus said they would consider reimbursement on cars, like mine that already had been repaired. Lexus is only doing this, again, because I am 100% sure that all the many many Lexus & Toyota car owners that had their hoses replaced back in 2013 and prior are now experiencing what I had to go thru: engine died, almost ran off the bridge and spent weeks without a car. . Had to rent. I ask for you to please go back and research this faulty vvti_oil hose on both Lexus & toyata cars. . There are thousands, especially with Toyota!!! all you have to do is google vvti-oil hose and you will see. . Thank you in advance!!.

Below are excerpts of a letter sent on July 16th, 2013, to which I have not received a reply. I am writing to you on behalf of my client, _____________, concerning a problem in the steering of her 2007 Lexus Es350. The Lexus dealership, freeman Lexus in santa rosa, California, has refused to reimburse my client for repairs that were made to deal with the shudder and clicking problems in my client’s car. Now, my client is requesting reimbursement in the amount of $420. 46 plus repair at no additional cost to her of the recurring problem in the steering “intermediate shaft” in her car. Freeman should have known of and corrected the problem before selling the car to my client, as I explain below. At the time my client purchased the car on September 7, 2007, certified previously owned, the car was subject to technical service information bulletin st001-07, “steering intermediate shaft noise” on Lexus model ES 350. That bulletin had been issued on April 25, 2007. The problem had not been corrected or disclosed at the time of purchase. Furthermore, freeman Lexus serviced the car on January 9, 2008, at which time the problem was not disclosed. On August 31, 2012, when the problems appeared and were reported to my client’s mechanic, __________________________________________, [mechanic] found bulletin st001-07 and duly replaced the steering shaft assembly, part no. 45220-06114 according to the service bulletin. [excluded from this email is a recounting of similar complaints] as the above posts indicate, the steering shaft is defective. Had the defect been disclosed, my client would not have purchased the car. Instead, my client relied on the “certified previously owned” believing such certification to be reliable. Evidently, it is not. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this matter.
Going downhill on steep grade at 60 to 70 mph, severe shaking of steering wheel when brakes applied, repaired by Lexus of las vegas, this happened several times before repair.
The contact owns a 2008 Lexus Es350. While driving approxiamtely 60 mph, the anti-lock brake system and check engine warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. A sudden loss of steering control occurred, and the vehicle crashed into the guard rail. The vehicle exterior body and headlights sustained several scratches. There were no personal injuries. A police report was not filed for the incident. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been repaired a the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 19,000.
I bought one Lexus (Toyota) ES 350 last November with about 3,500 miles (currently 8,200miles). Recently, I found front wheel on the right side could not be recovered to straight position (steering also). I took my car to Lexus dealer in peoria, IL, but they talked me that the issues happen because your car hit holes or curbs. I want to ask who can tell me that their cars never hit holes or curbs, if issues happen as long as your car hits holes or curbs. I think issues happen when a strong outside force was added to the objects such tire or rim or body, but this time not any damage in tire, rim or body, how come only inside damage happen first. I have very strong engineering background, I would like to ask Lexus (Toyota) how big outside force will led to this damage, and if and what the outside damage happen when same strength force is added tire, rim or body. I think Lexus (Toyota) shrink their responsibility such as they have done. My wife drives a new BMW about 4 years, but nothing happen even though hit many holes or curbs. Lexus is luxury car, not a toy. We define a car as a luxury car, not only interior, but also in safety, which has enough strength to bear outside force. If car damaged as long as it hit a hole or curb. If yes, I can say Lexus was made by paper or flour. I think this is a issues of design.
