Equipment Problems of Lexus GS

The component issue is the dashboard. The dashboard has deteriorated and melted to a sticky, shiny tar with a major shine that is causing a glare and potential blind spot will driving. The problem with my vehicle has been a known issue with several models experiencing similar issues. The manufacture has a habit of not fixing the problem until many attempts made by the owner to rectify the problem or denies the claim that it meets a service bulletin that has expired as in my case.

Front windshield is loose and vibrates/flutters when driving. The car has not been in an accident and has no apparent rust. It has been garaged and is available for inspection. There are no warning indicators. My concern is that the windshield could unseat or break while driving. Self inspection shows the windshield is loose when gentle pressure is applied from both internal top sides of window. A possible related issue is damage to rearview mirror where mirror coating is damaged to the point where it is unusable.

In October 2019 my engine upon start made a knocking/rattling sound. The engine noise continued even after the car was warm. The vacuum pump was diagnosed by the dealership and it was repaired under the manufacturer's warranty. From my understanding, the failure of the vacuum pump could cause the brakes to not respond. In December 2023 the vacuum pump displayed the same knocking/rattling sounds and the dealer diagnosed the vacuum pump as requiring replacement. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms, other than the noise.

While a/c is on, passenger side ac vent is blowing warm air while driver side and back seat ac vents are blowing cold air. Lowering the cabin air temperature controls do not correct the issue. It makes the car temperature get hot and uncomfortable, which becomes distracting when driving.

While I was driving at the end of traffic (light just turned green), when my sunroof (glass) exploded. Was a very loud bang, glass fell all over the center console, driver side (on my arm, hair) and passenger side. Luckily I was the only one in the car. I informed my insurance of the damage and sent them pictures, I can show you as well.

I am having transmission problem along with ecu problems. Car has rough down shifting problems when in motion . After doing research many Lexus Gs models have those common issues.

Bought a car for 4,000 private party. Guy claimed the car had 107,000 on the odometer and that him and his uncle worked on the car and it had no problems. Drove the car home engine started smoking in motion and car has major leaks. Did a carfax report and the car has 195,000+ miles. Seller also claimed he had the car for multiple years and in reality had it for 4 days. Upon purchase he did a title release form and a duplicate title form and said he would send the title in the mail as soon as he got it.

Almost 2 months started to experience wet drivers floor. I dried the water puddle up. In two days puddle back alone with the drivers side back floors wet. I dried the water up again. I took my vehicle to Lexus dealership. Technician unclogged the sunroom hose drain at a cost $155. 15 the nxt couple of days the puddles are back. Service consulted stated they hope the problem is fixed. In 2014 Lexus repaired hvac evaporators drain hose on 2007-2017 Lexus vehicles except the Lexus Gs. I have wipe wet windows even when the hvac is off. I called Lexus claim was told they could not help with the problem. But, nevertheless my complaint would be reviewed and was to receive an answer within 24 hrs. I was told by dealership to bring back if problem continued. I feel that would be a dime and nickel transactions. On the Lexus blog many individuals have spent up to $2500 and problem still exist. To solve the problem they sold the cars vowing never to purchase a Lexus. Thank you.

I own a 2016 Lexus Gs 350 and noticed in 2018 that the dashboard had a sticky substance not realizing the dashboard of my car was indeed melting! it looks terrible! people get in my car and ask, "what happen to your dashboard?" I live in houston, texas where temperatures reach upper 90s even 100s which affects my visibility while driving due to the glare reflected on windshield with melting dashboard. With research it's unfortunate Lexus has not sent out recall notice on this matter. I am all too familiar with a melting dashboard of vehicle as my 2008 Toyota camry le had this issue. With time Toyota issued recall notices to owners and promptly resolved by dealership. I express my concern with this issue and I am very surprised that this has not become a recall for Lexus owners. This is not at all safe! it should not take a traffic accident, injury, or death (lord, forbid) before something is to be done. I can't afford to replace a whole dashboard that should be taken care of by Lexus due to poor manufacturing. This is very much a vehicle safety hazard and appreciate attention to the matter.

Customer notice deterioration of the seat and proceeding monitoring the seat it was observed in 2021, 2023 & 2014 that while utilizing the seat heating electrical component the seat developed cracks as the heat released a burning sensation to the skin.

I was driving on a highway at about 55mph. I did not see any rocks or other objects prior to the event. My sunroof exploded while in motion. The inside cover was closed, and no glass came into the car.

Safety issue: Lexus Gs 350 2008 has the issue of rear view mirror. The rear view mirror is loosing under the glass the special texture. Lexus company saved money and replaced high quality of rear view mirror to cheap structure. Mirror looks like from the late 19th century. Appearance of rear view mirror is scratched up with random black spots, foggy to the point that you cannot see through it during the late dark hours of the evening and night. Even though the top of the glass is smooth without any trace of neglect. This issue started to be a long time ago with a small bad appearance, but it's gradually getting worse. Lexus of roseville at 300 automall dr, roseville, CA 95661 on April 19, 2017, offered to buy for $1235 then they gave me discount of $882 because of many complaints of the same issue. I have old Lexus Gs 400 1998 and the rear view mirror looks perfect. Please review this issue. Thank you and I appreciate your time.

Speakers - I've had 2 "blow" but they weren't blown, the speaker glue had just dissolved and the top of the speakers were rattling. I can't even get to the rear blown speaker because the entire back seat has to be removed to access it. This is a common complaint in all of the forums I've visited that these speakers fall apart.

Recientemente acudí a un concesionario Lexus para solicitar evaluación del deterioro del tablero y paneles interiores (superficies pegajosas y agrietadas). El concesionario negó la asistencia indicando que la lectura actual del odómetro no coincide con la última registrada en su sistema. Deseo aclarar que el problema del tablero y paneles ES un defecto DE material ampliamente documentado y no guarda relación con el millaje del vehículo. Por tal razón, solicito respetuosamente que mi caso sea evaluado por Lexus corporate bajo criterios DE asistencia voluntaria o buena voluntad, independientemente DE la discrepancia del odómetro. While traveling at a rate of 40 mph I pressed the accelerator to go faster when suddenly the car hesitated and began jerking and slowing abruptly. Thank heavens no one was following me closely or I may have been rear ended. After this "brush with death experience, I have learned that Lexus has had numerous complaints about their engines and transmissions. I am very concerned about driving the vehicle after my experience and after reading about other Lexus owners who have had close brushes with accidents as well. Something must be done to hold this car maker accountable. It is clear at Lexus their priority is profits over the safety of their owners.

I was driving going home from the store and my lower ball joint failed and damage my wheels, fender and driver side door won't open all the way due to the damage on the fender. Thank god I wasn't in the freeway or with my kids when this happened.

Rear view failure to hold up it has dark spots and scratches inside of the mirror causing lack of visibility. I have not been in any accidents and do not want to be. I've reported this to Lexus and they have done nothing to correct or replace deteriorating mirror.

The rear view mirror has developed black spots within the glass and is impossible to see out of it. There is TSB (l-sb-0043-16} but not a recall. . . The Lexus belonged to my father that passed away and never really drove the car.
