Six problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2006 Lexus GS300. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2017

The brake pedal feel has changed over time. I have to practically shove the brake pedal to the floor in order for the brakes to start to work. So when I am driving on the highway it takes a long time for the car to start to slow down. The car will not brake if I only slight push the pedal, it has to be pushed far down. The brakes are new as they were just done by the dealership when I purchased the vehicle.

2 Service Brakes problem

The contact owns a 2006 Lexus Gs300. The contact had to apply a large amount of pressure to the brake pedal in order for the vehicle to come to a stop. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 10v499000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and opened a case regarding the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

3 Service Brakes problem

The contact was driving 40 mph and applying the brakes as she approached an intersection, the vehicle did into respond and the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact stated that the frontal driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. A police report was available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnosis on the brake system and air bags but did not locate a failure with either. The driver sustained injuries to the back and neck. The rear passenger sustained injuries to the nose and back and the front passenger sustained injuries the breast due to the grip from the seat belts. The failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was 81,000. Updated 12/14/2011 updated 02/23/11.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2008

In winter of 2008 I was exiting a driveway at the end of which there is a stop light on a night when snow had just begun. I was traveling at a slow speed because the light was red my car brakes locked up and I slid into a stone pillar at the exit. Although I had sufficient time, I had no way to effectively steer the car because the wheels were locked up. There was significant damage to the car. While my overriding concern is that this could happen again, I was also unhappy about the very significant damage to my car. The dealer and the Lexus corporation told me there were no recalls on the antilock brakes, but I asked them to report the incident in case others experienced (or would in future experince) the same problem. I don't know if they did. In reading about the way Toyota handled current recalls, it raised doubts for me about whether they filed a report of this incident.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2007

Transmission continues to jerk and remain sluggish when pulling away from a stop or in slow traffic. Does not shift smoothly. Bad enough for passengers to detect. Dealership says its "normal".

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

2006 Lexus Gs300 brakes pulls to the left when braking. The consumer stated since the problem only happened on occasion, the dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. The consumer contacted the manufacturer and was told that the pulling to the left was a characteristic of the vehicle.
