The airbags didn’t deploy in a collision that included the front and rear. My head and body was smashed into the steering wheel and dash. There were no warning that there may be a problem with this system. We have not had an inspection yet but are hiring an investigator for that purpose.

I am writing to demand a recall for a widespread and well-documented defect involving the sunroof drain lines in the Lexus Gx460. Owners across multiple model years report that these drains frequently clog, disconnect, or deteriorate, resulting in severe water intrusion into the cabin. This defect is more than an inconvenience. Water intrusion routinely damages the headliner, carpets, and—most concerning—the electrical systems routed under the dash and along the floorboards. Owners have documented failures including: electrical shorts in junction boxes and harnesses near the driver footwell. Burnt circuits in side mirrors and modules after water exposure. Malfunctioning sensors, warning lights, and throttle response issues directly linked to water entry. Mold growth and corrosion under the dash from standing water. Supporting evidence from owners & forums: Gx460 owners have documented water intrusion from clogged drains causing shorts in wiring harnesses and electrical boards. In one case, water damage burned side mirror circuits and caused multiple dashboard warnings. (source: justanswer Lexus mechanic) on clublexus forums, Gx owners describe water pooling in the driver’s footwell after rain, traced to faulty sunroof drains. Reports include electrical shorts in junction boxes near the brake pedal caused by clogged or misrouted drains. Reddit and facebook discussions highlight mold growth, electrical malfunctions, and expensive repairs after water bypassed drainage and entered beneath the dash. Safety concerns: while Lexus may view water leaks as cosmetic, the resulting electrical failures compromise critical safety systems. Airbags, sensors, warning lights, and throttle response have all been reported as affected. These failures present clear safety hazards for drivers and passengers. Request for action: Lexus should issue a recall to correct the defective sunroof drainage design in Gx460 models, and cover all related repairs and reimburse owners.

I am writing to formally request an investigation into a safety defect affecting the dashboard on my 2004 Lexus Gx470. Over the past several months, I have observed significant cracking along the top of the instrument panel. I believe this defect poses a serious safety hazard: if the dashboard material fractures or delaminates, it could interfere with proper expansion and deployment of the front passenger airbag in the event of a collision. Despite the severity of this condition, Lexus has only issued a “limited-service campaign” rather than a full safety recall. Under that campaign, Lexus offers repair assistance only to owners located within certain regions and only if they pay a service fee. I contacted Lexus headquarters, and requested a complete, no-cost replacement of the defective dashboard assembly, and was declined without satisfactory justification. I consider this response inadequate because: 1. Safety risk to occupants othe dashboard crack traverses the airbag deployment zone. Oif the material fails, the passenger airbag may not be deployed correctly or on time. 2. Insufficient remedy oa limited-service campaign does not guarantee replacement or cover all affected vehicles. Oowners outside specified regions or who have previously paid for dashboard repairs receive no assistance. 3. Regulatory precedent ofederal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) no. 208 mandates reliable airbag deployment. Oa comprehensive recall would ensure all affected vehicles receive robust, no-cost repairs. I respectfully request that NHTSA open an investigation under 49 u. S. C. § 30162(a) to determine whether this dashboard cracking constitutes a safety-related defect warranting a nationwide recall. I am prepared to provide photographs, service records, and any additional information needed.

My older son (30 something) was with permission taking his girlfriend home in our 2016 Lexus Gx460 luxury, a deer ran out in front of vehicle causing them to go to the right hitting the end of guardrail head on @ approximately 60 mph causing the vehicle to spin to the left. They were injured ie a few cuts & bruises not sever. Front bumper & various parts scattered across the road. Insurance is totaling out the vehicle. . . . But what really bother us is that of all the airbags (10) in this vehicle none diploid not one !.

Dashboard for my car started cracking and becoming sticky. Symptoms are worse when car is parked outside. The material used is not heat resistant. There was a recall for dashboard cracks, but it was time bound. If consumer is always parking car indoors, symptoms will take time to appear. As this problem affects safety of airbag and other critical components around dashboard, it should be repaired irrespective of when the symptom start happening. Many other consumers are also seeing similar issues. Lexus forums are flooded with complaints about dashboard. Someone from NHTSA should investigate this in detail.

Dashboard is cracked.
Takata recall. Unacceptable wait time for remedy (replacement. ) in our present home state of florida, another(!!) floridian has died -- this time, a 34yr old woman, 07. 28. 2017. During the mandatory hurricane evacuation, our family was forced to use our front passenger seat. Thank g-d nothing happened, but this corrective period is gone on too long. We have been waiting months for resolution -- and all we are told is that the necessary part is unavailable and to wait longer -- and in the interim place our family in a potentially deadly situation. What is it going to take to get the replacement air bag?! does someone's teenage child have to die during a mandatory evacuation in order for resolution to happen?! I am tired of being patient. Please, someone explain the lack of apparent urgency. How many more people need to die? the death toll estimate is now 19. How many more people need to die before the rest of us get answers?!?!.

After 10 months since the airbag recall was announced there are still no updates on when my vehicle will be repaired from the manufacture. Considering the severity of the issue, more should be done to speed up the process!.
The dash is cracking all over the place(between 20-30 paces). The most cracking has occurred in front of and around the passengers airbag. This is particularly concerning because I fear it the airbag needed to deploy, it would not properly do so, and also that it may be extra dangerous if the cracked pieces of the dash go flying in all directions upon airbag deployment. .
