Electrical System Problems of Lexus GX

I was just getting off from work starting the engine, the driving meters screen and the head up display were completely off black, I thought that it will turn on after driving but it didn’t. I was driving more than 5 minutes on the free way and both screens were still dark. This is not the first time that this happened. The last time when this was happened, I brought my vehicle to the dealership where I purchased it, but then everything went back normal when I got to the dealership parking lot. They never performed any diagnostic or checking anything. Also the navigation/multi media scene flashing quite a bit. This car electrical system didn’t function properly and correctly when driving and could cause serious accidents or deaths, depending on who was driving. I really don’t know what more failure after this. In the past, Lexus had history of vehicle brake failures and couldn’t stop that claimed someone lives. This issues should be addressed before something else happens. ( I also have video available to support this concern).

System failure: this vehicle has a narrow shelf molded into the dashboard above the glove box. There was a small container of hair lotion stored there that melted in the heat and dripped through the dash and destroyed the electronic control unit or ecu (#89221-60630 multiplex computer) and the power distribution assembly (#82730-60260 power distributor assembly). This damage completely disabled the vehicle. Apparently, the ecu (a) is located where fluid can reach it through the dash and (b) it does not have any kind of shielding to protect it from being damaged in this way. Safety issue: I am extremely lucky that I was not in a remote location when a few drops of hand lotion rendered my vehicle 100% inoperable. No prior warning: there was no warning prior to a complete failure of the vehicle to operate. Inspected by manufacturer: the vehicle was inspected at a Lexus dealership and remains there.

I am writing to demand a recall for a widespread and well-documented defect involving the sunroof drain lines in the Lexus Gx460. Malfunctioning sensors, warning lights, and throttle response issues directly linked to water entry. Mold growth and corrosion under the dash from standing water. In one case, water damage burned side mirror circuits and caused multiple dashboard warnings. Safety concerns: while Lexus may view water leaks as cosmetic, the resulting electrical failures compromise critical safety systems. Airbags, sensors, warning lights, and throttle response have all been reported as affected. These failures present clear safety hazards for drivers and passengers. Request for action: Lexus should issue a recall to correct the defective sunroof drainage design in Gx460 models, and cover all related repairs and reimburse owners.

The infotainment screen on my 2014 Lexus Gx 460 has been restarting continuously, rendering it unusable. This system controls essential functions, including the air conditioning, vehicle settings, cd player, and bluetooth connectivity. Due to the screen constantly restarting, I cannot adjust the ac, use the cd player, or connect my phone via bluetooth. These malfunctions could pose a safety risk, especially if the ac cannot be adjusted in extreme weather conditions. There were no warning lights or error messages before the issue began. I have not yet had the issue inspected by a dealer or independent service center, but I plan to do so.

The infotainment center in my 2014 Gx460 is stuck in the rebooting phase. This system controls the cars temperature, radio, and vehicle settings. Not being able to access all of the temperature controls poses a safety risk especially with extreme temperatures. Ive heard this is a common issue with this vehicle and am shocked there hasn’t been a recall for it.

The driver, passenger, and rear tailgate electronic locks have all failed in the last 6 months on the car. I'm constantly having to remind my kids and wife to lock the doors before they start driving. I'm particularly concerned about the rear cargo door. The lock is failed in the "locked" position and there is not a manual lever to pull from the interior or exterior to unlock and open the door. I no longer allow my kids to ride in the 3rd row seat out of fear that there will be an incident where I need to get them out of the cargo door and it won't be available. The internet is full of reviews where this seems to be a widespread problem, but Lexus has not acknowledged and no formal recall has been issued. I reached out to Lexus this month to see if they would work with me on a solution, but was told my car is out of warranty. Any help would be appreciated.

I was traveling east bound on 161/16/37 near raccoon valley golf course in granville OH. I was near mm 104. It was approximately 8:13pm and the road conditions were clear. No other vehicles were in front of or behind me. I heard a screech, the wheel jerked out of my hand to the left, and the wipers came on. I tried to regain control and keep the vehicle on the road. The wheel kept tugging to the left and I was fighting to pull it right. At the same time, I was also pressing on the brake, but it went straight to the floor. I kept pumping on the breaks because I didn’t know if the abs was working. Then I hit the guard rail on the right side of my car and after I hit the guard rail, that time when I pressed the breaks, I was finally able to stop. I am unsure what system malfunctioned. There were no lights or warning messages. I did have the vehicle at Lexus for routine maintenance a couple weeks prior. The sheriff came to the scene and filled report 23-31830. I also called Lexus the next day and filled a request for an inspection to be completed. My insurance company is aware, but has advised I don’t file the claim until after the investigation is complete.

Constant rebooting of the infotainment system which includes heat/air conditioning - defrosting of windows etc. I have had this problem for more than a year. I have consulted with Lexus dealerships. I was told this problem exists with various models of Toyota and Lexus. Every time I start the vehicle - it starts rebooting - then the screen keeps blinking on and off like it is beginning to start then it stops. I have disconnected the battery to re attempt. Works for 2 minutes than fails. I purchased a micro sd card for 2014. Worked for a day then on the screen states need a dealership. Then I leave it for days, it starts as normal then starts the re-boot. Totally frustrated. Dealer problem. Should be a re-call. . . . Not a $4000 repair.

The backup camera goes in and out when backing up it goes picture to black randomly took the truck to the dealer and they told me there is nothing wrong with it even that when I took it there it was just showing us a black screen that the service adviser saw and my truck is out warranty so I would be paying for the service I a member of a couple big Lexus owner forms and I am not to only one having the same problems with the same issue ranging from 2004 till 2009 Gx's.
