Lexus GX460 owners have reported 36 problems related to air bag (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Contacted by Lexus about a 2016 Lexus GX 460 I purchased in feburary 2020 from a local dealership sister store. Lexus informed me that the vehicle had an air bag recall if not fixed according to literature could cause serious harm or death. I was open to get the vehicle fixed and stated I had a Toyota dealership within 2 miles of my home. Lexus said because this was as safety issue my local Toyota dealership was unacceptable place for repairs and I had to have the vehicle shipped to a dealership which was the closest to my area 318 miles away (one way). Lexus offered to have the vehicle picked up and curried to the dealership at no cost to me. The problem is that this vehicle is my main means of transportation to work. When I explained this to Lexus associate it Lexus replied that I could rent a car and Lexus would re-emberse me for the cost. Which is great if you have the money to lease a car upfront for an extended period of time. When I questioned why a vehicle with an air bag safety recall issued back in may of 2016 was allowed to be re-sold without being fixed the answer I received was that it should have shown up on the carfax. I would have never purchased this vehicle with a known safety issue that could cause serious harm or death. I believe not only does Lexus have some responsibility but so does the dealership in which I purchased the vehicle from as I was not made aware of the recall at the time of purchase. With all that being said I feel I have no problem having the vehicle fixed within reasonable compromise between both parties. But if in the interim time someone is seriously injured or killed as a result of this recall I want it documented that I made a good faith effort to report it to the NHTSA prior to any such incidents.

"takata recall" I called Lexus dealer in puerto rico for the airbag recall that was notified to me by mail. The dealer told me that the recall was retired and that no service has to be done to my vehicle. No writen explanation has been sent to me from the dealer. Is it true that the airbag recall was retired from my vehicle?.

Takata recall.
Recall came out on may 23, 2016. Today is January 17, 2017. This is nearly a year and their idea of a fix is to have no one ride in the passenger seat? this is totally ridiculous. I did not buy a luxury car so that no one could ride in the car. Just had the car at the dealership and they didn't even tell me there was a recall on it or that I shouldn't have anyone riding in the passenger seat. Found out by checking for recalls on the NHTSA site.
"takata recall" - the recall has been in place since January 2017 and there is no remedy to date other than I am not supposed to have a passenger in my vehicle for months on end. This is an unreasonable request for the length of time this is going on. There is also not a future planned date of when the air bag will be replaced.
Takata recall. Approximately one year ago I received a notice of airbag recall with instructions to contact a Lexus dealer for replacement of the airbag. I have contacted two different dealers throughout the year and have been told repeatedly that no "fix" is available. Due to the strong warning of the dangers attached to this recall, I question why are lives being put in danger when the fix should have been available relatively soon after notification. !!!!.

Takata recall - since receiving the recall notice of the takata airbag, I haven't been given any updates on what the remedy is or when the recall can be scheduled to get the fix repaired. This everlasting uncertainty has left me without a fully functional car, as well as forcing me to make all passengers sit in the back seats to avoid potential injury. How can I get Lexus to act on this, if not inform the public of the plan to complete?.

Takata recall, I was informed of this recall a year ago and there is no resolution.
Takata recall: to date, our passenger airbag has not been replaced in our vehicle. This issue was first raised this summer, over 6 months ago. I've repeatedly requested assistance from our dealership and they do not have any updated information. We need to be able to utilize our front passenger seat but are reluctant to do so since the passenger air bag could cause death in an accident. It is completely unacceptable that a remedy has not been provided for this deadly part in our vehicle.
Takata recall. Recall has been open since may 2016 and still no repair available. Dealer says don't have anyone ride in the passenger seat. This is not acceptable. Honda has parts available to repair their vehicles why doesn't Toyota? Honda provided rentals for customers until parts were available, maybe Toyota would work a little harder at taking care of their customers if there was a financial reason to do so. There is no urgency on the part of the manufacturer to get this fixed.
I am unable to use my car as needed due to this recall. It has created a hardship for me.
Takata recall - since may 23, 2016 Toyota has attempted to prepare a remedy for NHTSA recall no. 16v-340 but as of January 31, 2017 they have failed. With ample time past, I must conclude Toyota is unable to develop a remedy. On behalf of all zone a residents, I ask the NHTSA to launch an immediate investigation to confirm my conclusion. Thank you for your service.

"takata recall" I received a recall for this issue may 2016. I have checked a number of times since when this will be remedied. Most recently August 2017. Each time I am told there is not yet a remedy for my vehicle though I have been told possibly sept-oct 2017. The recall states that significant degradation may occur between 6-9 years after put in service. My vehicle has now been in service 7yrs 6 months. I have not asked for a loaner, but feel this may be my only recourse as I feel that a "timely manner" has come and gone. It is nearly impossible to never have a passenger ride in the front and at best I shouldn't have to deal with such an inconvenience as to remember to rope off my front seat.

Takata recall. Recall has been open since may 23, 2016. This is almost a year with no repair available. Honda has parts for their cars, why doesn't Toyota? telling me I can't have a passenger in my car is not a fix.
