1 Suspension problem of the 2022 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 07/29/2022

This vehicle has had bad engine rumbling since I have owens’s the vehicle and makes loud noises all the time since I have owned it new. Also this year car online has had known suspension issues and alignment issues. My vehicle pulls to the right all the time and steering wheel is off center. Also my front socks with only 6200 make noise when going over bumps. I have been to the dealership over these issues twice and they tried to fix the alignment the first time since it was out but used the wrong specs bwcucase they are not out for 2022 Lexus GX 460 yet. Also the rumbling the dealership can not figure out at all.

2 Suspension problem of the 2019 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 01/11/2021

Hello, my car is tilted to the right when traveling on highway. Also tilted a lot when I turn left. This is not normal because my other cars don't behave like that. I brought to Lexus dealer but was informed the car is normal. However, I need ntsb to check because I don't feel safe with this car. Note: I think this is a manufacturer defect because there are other people who complained on the internet about the same problem.

3 Suspension problem of the 2018 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 05/28/2018

I bought the car last momth (may April 2018), now the mileage is just 490, and the car is already leaning to the right passenger side. The first issue with the car was it was pulling to the right when you drive it at a speed of 30 - 40 miles per hour. I took it to the dealership westside Lexus houston. And they did fix it. But the leaning to the right side was not fixed. The service personnel said that this is normal for the car to lean, and I told them that when the car is in motion you can even tell and feel that it is leaning. They said that it is normal, this is part of the kdss system and there is nothing to be worried about. I was so disappointed because my two kids get to ride this car, my family. And I know for a fact that this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. I have done some research, and for years since the previous model of GX 460 they said its normal even if its not normal. . This is not a good quality car made for family. I wasted my hard earned $56,000. I bought this car brand new with $3000 downpayment. I should have just kept the $3000, now I am planning to get this repair from my own pocket since they wont fix it.

4 Suspension problem of the 2018 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 03/24/2018

Vehicle often sits visibly lower on the left side during driving and at rest. Vehicle also often hisses from rear after turning off after driving. Dealer denies any problem, but states they have had several other complaints from other customers. Lexus states problem can only be diagnosed with full tank of gas - implying if the gas tank is not full, the vehicle may be unlevel. Lexus states this is a normal condition for this vehicle, and the vehicle does not meet Lexus repair criteria. First noticed issue on day of purchase. At that time dealer said it could be adjusted, but now states there is no adjustment. (I did not have the stated adjustment performed at that time, because I had just driven 2 hours to pickup my new vehicle).

5 Suspension problem of the 2017 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 03/05/2018

I was driving around 40 mph and was hit in the side by a driver who ran a stop sign at a screeching halt and hit my passenger side front and rear. I flipped 2. 5 times and landed upside down. I was able to exit the vehicle through the rear windows my child. The car kept me safe as far as airbags and seatbelt. We had some injuries but no broken bones. After researching, I find the GX is known to have a stability issue and flip from even small impacts from the side. This accident could have been way worse as my car was totaled and all airbags deployed except for front steering and dash. They need to fix this issue. As far as holding up in the rollover, the cabin area was intact mostly. But the car should not have rolled over and if I was on the interstate or had other cars coming at me, it may have been worse. The stability issue needs to be fixed.

6 Suspension problem of the 2017 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 01/16/2018

Turning left into neighborhood and struck rear passenger side panel behind the tire (bumper area). I was going approx 10-15 mph, other vehicle (camry) was going 40 mph. Car rolled twice. I believe this is due to a known issue with this model leaning to the right, which causes an increased rollover risk on left hand turns. It seems that Lexus is aware, but has not addressed the issue. Happy to provide photos or additional documentation if needed.

7 Suspension problem of the 2017 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 08/18/2017

The vehicle leans to the right (passenger side) about 1 1/4 compared to left side since day 1 after purchase. I contacted 3 Lexus dealers and was told "it is within specs". This is a known issue on GX 460 models but Lexus refuses to admit it. They refuse to repair it. The vehicle has extreme body roll to the right during left turns and feels a lot more stable during right turns. This is a major safety concern. I contacted the Lexus corporate office and was told that this is a "characteristic of the vehicle" and they will not repair it. I was lied by a service foreman that the vehicle was designed this way. I did a lot of research on this issue and based on several technical documents it is caused by imbalance between the 2 cylinders on the kdss. Proper procedure is to bleed and re-fill the kdss system but Lexus refuses to do it. I was told by a service manager that this is an expensive and lengthy procedure and dealers avoid doing it. The vehicle has about 10,000 miles not and it feels extremely unsafe to drive. I see at least 1 Lexus Gx460 every 1-2 days on the road that leans to the right. I talked with multiple owners who didn't even notice it but totally agreed that their vehicle was leaning and feels different during left turns compared to right turns. This is a major issue on many Toyota vehicles equipped with kdss. The GX 460 is sold in the rest of the world as the Toyota landcruiser prado and they also have the same issue. Is is an ongoing problem since 2007 when the kdss was introduced on the Lexus GX 470 and later installed in the 4runners and Toyota landcruisers 200. Worst part is that Lexus in not willing to help and most dealers don't even know how to repair it. They simply say: "your vehicle is within specs". This is a major, major safety issue. For a vehicle with such high center of gravity, leaning on one side can cause the vehicle to roll over !.

8 Suspension problem of the 2014 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

Around 5000 miles I noticed my vehicle pulling the right. I took the car into Lexus and asked for it to be repaired. When I picked the car up it seemed better but still not driving straight. I took it back again and they repaired it again. Back in July around 10000 miles I noticed the vehicle leaning to the right more than 1 inch. I took it in for repair and was told they were aware of the problem and would get back to me when they had a resolution. I felt unsafe driving the car and forced the issue and was able to take the car back the next day and get a loaner. 2 weeks later my car was able to be picked up and did appear to be driving better and leaning less. I received a letter from Lexus after filing a final repair notice that "my concerns were not caused by a defect in the workmanship". Now as of February the lean is back. I contacted the person who wrote the letter and was told this was a "characteristic of the vehicle" and not a defect or any affect on performance. I still don't understand how it is safe to drive around in a car that leans to the right. If I were to slam on brakes how do they know if would not roll over. And how do they know this is not causing other issues with the vehicle as far a wear on parts and/or tires. I am now filing a vehicle repurchase request with Lexus.

9 Suspension problem of the 2014 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

Vehicle leans excessively to the right (passenger side). We feel the vehicle is unsafe. It appears to promote premature wear of tires on leaning side. Lexus says it's within it's specifications. We did find out the company , dealer management, sales, and service was fully aware of the defect prior to the sale to us. The dealer did an upgrade which 'did not' solve the lean. Also there remains a acidic smell like dried urine which will not go away. We thought it was the new car smell but hasn't gone away.

11 Suspension problem of the 2010 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 08/20/2010

The vehicle has front-end vibrations at 60-65 mph (most noticeable in the steering wheel) like there is something loose or bad wheel balance. The dealer is not able to correct the problem through balancing, alignment, tire replacement, etc. Replacing tires to a different non-oe didn't help as well which bring symptoms to be non-wheel related but mechanical.

12 Suspension problem of the 2010 Lexus GX460

Failure Date: 07/22/2010

The contact owns a 2010 Lexus Gx460 SUV. The cruise control was activated while the contact was driving up a sight incline at approximately 62 mph. An unexpected increase of acceleration occurred. The engine began to rev excessively high and the rmps increased to 4,300. The cruise control was deactivated with the brake pedal engaged. The vehicle was able to come to a stop. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician informed that the vehicle required further inspection and would analyze the data. The vehicle remained at the dealer at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 2,800. The consumer stated there was a vibration in the steering wheel and the emergency brake would not hold, it would go down to the floor. Also, when trying to pass another vehicle, the vehicle hesitated. Updated 10/12/10.
