There was a recall on my vehicle. The dashboard is all cracked but my problem is that I drive my kids and there is a recall problem with side curtain-shield-airbags (csas) which deploy from the roof rails in the event of certain types of crashes. I had call 2 different Lexus and the headquaters and they all them me different things. I just want the dashboard and airbags to be fix as this is a family bag.

Dashboard/cover cracks over the (1) odometer assembly and (2) glove compartments. These may affect the air bags in those areas. I bought this used at around 95000 miles on January 20, 2018 from infinity berman la salle st chicago illinois. I read there were previous reports on dashboard for earlier Gx470 but this is not covered. Carfax report for this VIN does not have reported accident or damage.

Cracked dashboard and occasional thump, bump when I stop at stop lights.
Dash is cracking.
My 2006 Gx470's dash is starting to disintegrate in front of my eyes. First one little line appeared on my dash, in front of the passenger airbag, then a couple weeks later a few more showed up, now they are starting to take over the dash and it has a sticky soft texture to it like it is melting. At first I thought it was something on the rag I used to wipe the dash after the car had been washed, but it has this almost oily sheen and is sticky. My fear is, if my dash is breaking down, then what happens if I get into a front end collision and that air bag deploys? is my passenger going to end up fragments of dash board embedding in their eyes or face? this is clearly a safety issue! this car has been my baby and is very well maintained. Garaged kept and parked in the shade. . . What is causing this issue? plus, it is winter time, and the cracks are multiplying as we speak!.
My dash has cracked all over the complete dash , not a small part , all of it . I was notified a year ago and it is still not replaced . You should not allow this to go this long and then an issue with an airbag came in the mail and it too has not been repaired ! now the news says I live in a damp and humid area so does this mean I am in more danger ? why are they not repairing these problems and why is the NHTSA not helping us?.
Dash is cracking across the whole top, concerned about airbag safety.
Dash board crack all over . Need to fix or replaced it.
There is a huge crack in the dash that has been reported by many GX drivers and is obviously a fault in Lexus' manufacturing.
The entire dash board is cracked. There are spots on my leather seats and arm rests are cracked and torn. Also told the truck doesn't have shocks but I can feel every bump.
I am the original owner of a Gx470 Lexus. This vehicle along with other vehicles is garage kept. I don’t drive some of my vehicles a lot as with my Gx470 because of the gas mileage and difficulty in parking verses my c-class Mercedes Benz and other cars. But in March of this year I noticed severe cracking in my front dash while taking a long trip. The cracking is so severe that it goes across the front dash where the passenger’s air bags are located. The cracking has also caused the speakers sound to be distorted. I contacted Lexus, but at the time I did not know that there are thousands of Lexus’s Gx470s that have the same exact problem. One of the things I would suggest is that those Lexus owners like myself that is going to file a lawsuit should get together. My email address emike899@gmail. Com I also think that a way to get the addition of Lexus and potential Lexus buyers that have no idea that this problem that kia owners don't have to face is the plan a protest of Lexus dealerships nationwide. Saturday is a big day in the car business; believe me I use to work in the industry. To have even just three to four protestors with signs warning potential Lexus customers of what Lexus owners are experiencing and the fact that Lexus is refusing to make this right will get Lexus attention. This is not a problem based on the consumer but Lexus and whatever company that they contracted with to produce these dash. I am personally going to sue Lexus. I would be willing to share my pleadings with anyone else, but I cannot give legal advise of any kind because I am not an attorney. Pleadings are public record.

Noted several cracks across dashboard and is disintegrating. Lexus not helpful subsequent stories on abc action news tampa of known problem with dashes.
Approximately one year ago, several hairline cracks started to appear on the dashboard of my Lexus 2006 Gx470. These cracks quickly spread and are now covering most of the dashboard. In addition, the dashboard feels like it is melting or has become very sticky to the touch as tiny little pieces will chip away or indent at the slightest touch. This vehicle is garage kept with a custom sunshade purchased from Lexus being used every time the vehicle is parked outside. The vehicle currently has just over 100,000 miles with no extended warranty. Lexus of tampa bay was contacted in October of 2013 and I was told by a service manager (marty) that Toyota is aware of this problem, but that Lexus will not contribute to replace. The cost of a new dashboard quoted was $1822. 26, not including labor. The cracks are starting to develop into larger splits which are running the entire length of the dashboard and are covering the entire face.
Dash board has begun to crack. Concerned there would be a safety issue if the air bags were deployed. Apparently this is a common issue for the Lexus 03-09 in the GX model and also the RX model. Lexus is full aware of the issue, but has happened after warranty expired.
Notice what looks like a cut across my dashboard, so I asked my daughters did anything happend while they had the truck(?). I than googled cracked dashboard on Gx470 2005 and find many Lexus owners have this problem. With all owners with the same complaint, I looked for a recall. To my surprise as much as I talk about my Lexus they droped the ball(my last Lexus).
The leathery type material that covers dashboard is melting. It is very soft to the touch and extremely hot and sticky in sunlight. This material has cracks that continues to split around instrument panels in my car. Please help. . . . .
The dashboard is cracked and melted.
My vehicle was purchased from a local Lexus dealership in January 2008 and since then has been garaged during the day at my office and garaged overnight in my building's enclosed parking structure. The vehicle rarely sat in the sun for extended periods of time, but in November 2012, cracks on the passenger side dash began appearing. They were razor thin and by the end of 2013, the entire passenger side dash was covered in cracks, directly above the air bag. The Lexus dealership explained that since the vehicle was out of warranty and there was no open recall, any repair would be at my expense, which would be approximately $2,500. I searched multiple online forums (clublexus. Com, Lexusownersclub. Com) and this same premature cracking of the Gx470 dash was being experienced by hundreds of owners. I also own a Lexus ls430 and I have treated it exactly like my Gx470, but thankfully the LS has not exhibited any dash cracking. I feel that the Gx470 dash cracking issue is a safety risk, since the integrity of the dash is being compromised and it may negatively effect the functioning of the vehicle air bags. I feel that this problem is due to poor quality materials and that Lexus should provide a replacement at no cost to the vehicle owner.
I have been waiting over 3 years to get the cracked / melting dashboard repaired under the recall I received over 3 years ago. I spoke to the local Lexus dealer and they said I was still # 49 in line to get this done. Really ? after 3 years. How patient does one need to be ? I believe a civil suit is in order here. With the time and trips to the dealer for this and it's still not handled - someone with some authority needs to press this issue with Lexus.
I saw jen strathmore's news, watch dog report on cracked/melting dashboards. I want to file a complaint that I too have this problem. The cracking started a few years ago and has slowing continued. My entire dash is literally cracking off in pieces and there is foam padding exposed. It is getting worse. I'm concerned about the safety with the air bags. I drive a Lexus SUV, an expensive car. I did bring it to jm Lexus, the customer service manager said there was nothing he could do about it, now. I didn't think I had a leg to stand on, until I saw the multiple complaints by others with the same issues on television. Please let me know what I should do next. Thank you, lisa bezick.
Several cracks (some hairline and others wider) have appeared all over the dashboard, near vents, above instrument console and in front of the passenger side air bag cover. Initially, I thought this was an isolated occurrence but in researching this topic online I realized this is pervasive issue with this model and it's overseas cousin prado. This is clearly a manufacturing defect that Toyota and Lexus must correct. I believe the cracks over the passenger side air bag cover pose a safety risk with potential interference with the operation of the air bag deployment. To be sure this wasn't an isolated occurrence, I have visually inspected 5 other GX 470s in tampa area (randomly) over the last month and each one of them had the same cracks on their dashboards. Here are links to owner forum sites I surveyed to get a sense of this problem worldwide . . . Read more...
Growing cracks all over the dash. This is a known defect with many other reported incidents.
The dashboard is cracking.
Dash pad had hair line cracks throughout. Then started to peel around air bags.
Cracked dashboard with shiny spots that give glare when driving in the sun. This is an issue whenever the car is in motion on any surface (street, highway, turning, etc). We received zld warranty enhancement notification and got on local dealership (grapevine, texas) "will call" list over a year ago. Dealership continues to say they will call when part is available. Online it appears the only people who have had dashes replaced are those who have Lexus blogs, etc.
