I have an 2006 Lexus Gx470 and these lights came abs, vsc trac, vsc off, skid, and check engine. The vehicle started making a humming noise at start up and now drives in stalled mode. Had codes check and it turns out I have the dreaded secondary air injection system (emissions) defect p0412, p0418 ,p1440/p1443, p1441/p1444, p2440, p2445, p1442/p1145 , which is a recurring problem. Replacement is a nightmare for self repair or a $2000+ repair.

I have a 2004 Gx470 SUV. Today I was in a parking lot, trying to back out and leave. With one foot on the accelerator, I found it stuck, which was odd, as I had not experienced it before. So I pressed on it again, I thought, lightly. I was taken completely by surprise, as I seemed to have flown backwards, as I have a v8 engine, my acceleration was quick and my car immediately rammed into 2 parked cars behind me. I was in a state of shock and very scared, since it was so fast and sudden. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before? thank you.

It is possible to simultaneously depress the gas pedal when braking, this causes sudden uncontrollable acceleration I reported the incident too Toyota and requested upgraded ecu software that disables the gas pedal while braking Toyota refused to provide a simple software fix my wife is a witness.

Speedometer and tachometer gauges do not work properly. When the vehicle is turned on, will either activate right away or flicker or do nothing. This is an intermittent problem and is hard to diagnose or even fix. Have seen on Lexus forums this is a common problem and seems many of us are driving "speed blind". I have already had the cluster sent out and "repaired", only to have problem come back. I feel this problem is dangerous and the manufacturer needs to be held accountable.
I was driving and merging from the local lanes on maryland I-270 sb to the main lanes. In order to move slowly from one lane to another, I applied the brakes to slow down and move to the lane on my left. When I applied the brake, I heard a strange sound and the vehicle jerked violently. The vehicle failed to decelerate, therefore I attempted to re-apply the brakes once more. At this point, the brakes did not seem to be working and the vehicle continued to accelerate beyond my control. I was unable to control the speed using the brakes and the vehicle hit several cars to my left and right. Afterwards, my vehicle hit a large tractor trailer at which point the vehicle finally came to a stop. Throughout all of this, my airbags did not deploy at all. My vehicle has been declared a total loss due to the damages by my insurance, liberty mutual.

The contact owns a 2008 Lexus Gx470. While parking the vehicle and applying the brakes, the vehicle abnormally surged forward resulting in a crash. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Lexus dealer to be examined. The failure and current mileages were unknown.
When I pressed the gas to go in reverse in my 2007 Lexus GX 470, the car accelerated far more than I was pressing on the gas pedal. The car continued to accelerate even when I removed my foot from the accelerator, and eventually collided with a concrete pole. About a month prior to the incident, I had taken the vehicle to the dealer because the brakes were making a scraping sound, but the dealership "could not recreate the problem. " after the incident, I promptly reported the issue to Lexus and left the vehicle untouched for nearly 2 weeks, awaiting investigation. Lexus promised to contact me within 10 business days to investigate, but did not do so.
Problem with vsc on my 2004 Lexus Gx470. I was driving from a ski resort on snow covered road at approx 35-37 mph. The front right wheel hit a pothole and the rear of the vehicle shot sideways and we were headed off the road to the right, then traction control or something kicked in and we shot into oncoming traffic. I tried to steer back into our lane and the rear left again sent us into a sideways skid across the right lane and headed off of the road until the right rear hit a pole. The car continued to move and shot us back into the right traffic lane and I was able to finally gain control and pull over. I had no control of the vehicle and we veered back and forth across the highway for several yards. I have driven in winter conditions for years and have been in slides before, but never where the car changed direction and veered back and forth instead of maintaining the slide trajectory. I am convinced that the sensors are wrong or something is wrong with the vsc and reported my concern to my insurance company and also to the Lexus dealership. I took the vehicle to Lexus and had them run full diagnostic, including zero point/yaw rate. They reported that there were no issues with the vsc. The tires and brakes checked out too. I have only had this vehicle serviced by Lexus, even oil changes. I have been searching this site and others for similar esc/vsc complaints and have found a few, then when the announcement about the vsc problems with the new Lexus GX came out, I knew I should report this. There should be an investigation of all Lexus GX vsc systems - whether they develop flaws over time or if there is some issue inherent with the system that causes the uncontrolled skids. This is the second time the car has gone into an uncontrolled slide - the first time there were no damages.
My Lexus GX 470 has accelerated uncontrollably since jan7, 2010 (first occurrence) and last occurrence March 12, 2010 . It generally occurs at light throttle from a stop and turning left at intersections and is compounded by a loss of electronic stability control also on wet pavement. Thus far, I have been able to react quickly enough to keep speeds under 60 mph. My wife and daughter have not been so fortunate and will not drive in and /or be a passenger in the vehicle. I'm handicapped and had a service dog who was killed in one of the crashes. If a neck can be broken then we are dealing with a very dangerous situation. I am a former Toyota executive engineer/ chief engineer for 8 years and have a huge amount of knowledge in this subject , such as program retention of ecm and denso throttle. Toyota knew of these electronic problems beginning in 2002 how many deaths in a Lexus GX 470 , before a recall occurs?????????.
After removing foot from accelerator and applying brake while parking, the vehicle accelerated as if the gas pedal was pushed to the floor. My wife had the brake pushed as hard as she could but was not able to stop the car before it hit an embankment. She slid into the dash and steering wheel and was sore for a couple of days. She had a passenger who witnessed the event.
I was traveling west on a two lane paved road (sutton road) near sutton school. Weather was snowing and road conditions slippery when my accererator failed to return to idle position. I applied brakes as I was approaching a vehicle in front of me traveling in the same direction. The electronic stability control failed to maintain straight direction as per design intent and manuals. Front began sliding to left and rear of vehicle began sliding to right. I ncreased brake pressure and steered into th skid , to the right. I was able to miss the contact with any other vehicles and or damage any property , but did end up sliding into a ditch off of the road. With the impact resulting in the death of my service dog . As I am handicapped. No damage to my vehicle , but no I am virtually immobile with the loss if my dear service dog.
The contact owns a 2005 Lexus Gx470. The contact attempted to stop the vehicle while driving approximately 25 mph with her foot on the brake pedal, and it accelerated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. They test drove it and stated that they were unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. The Lexus manufacturer was notified. A representative from the manufacturer test drove the vehicle and they were also unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of it. The failure mileage was 5,000. Updated 5/24/10
