The dashboard Is melting and makes a glare on the windshield making it hard to see the dashboard Is melting and sticky also on the door panels I almost crashed when I couldn’t see due to the glare of the melting dashboard reflecting on the windshield.
I was driving approx. 60 entering on ramp of freeway when car suddenly loses power to accelerator not entire car, I almost was hit by other drivers I couldnt accelerate or anything. I panicked then started pumping accelerator then it finally catches and sped up. I immediately got off freeway. Then next day cel, check vsc light and skid light all came on. This car Is very dangerous. Whatcan I do??? I refuse to use the freeway until this problem Is resolved.
From my past research I’ve noticed there were recalls about the headlight ballast flashing, and getting replaced my car has this problem but never had a recall. The rear view mirror Is fading and turning black making me not able to see. And all of my interior Is becoming shiny and brittle making it hard to see out of my vehicle at anytime of day or night.
The problem I am experiencing pertains to the dash of my Lexus Is 250. The dash cover has melted, most likely due to exposure to heat during sunny days. This melting dash has created a dangerous situation, as it causes a glaring reflection on the windshield, impairing my vision while driving. This glare poses a significant safety risk to both my and other road users, especially during sunny days when the reflection becomes more pronounced. My primary concern Is that despite being aware of this safety Issue and having conducted a recall, Lexus has chosen to put a deadline on addressing this problem. This approach contradicts the fundamental principle of ensuring the safety and well-being of Lexus vehicle owners and other road users. The melting dash Issue Is a manufacturing fault, and it should be addressed regardless of when it manifests itself.
- the door panel and dashboard Is melting under normal to warm weather conditions. Yes. - the rubber Is degrading and coming off in pieces . I am concerned that inhalation or contact with this rubber material Is a chemical hazard and/or carcinogenic. Also, the shiny sticky dash impedes my driving visibility with a constant glare. - yes, Lexus offered a limited recall for 2-3 years only. I was never informed of the Issue despite going to a Lexus dealership for another safety recall in 2017. - it has been inspected by Toyota but not Lexus. - the rubber began to noticeably degrade in 2019, however, it’s likely it began earlier. It has progressively worsened over time. The recall expired in 2018. I informed Lexus, who greedily stated that they could not help me despite them knowingly installing faulty, failing parts in the car, which may be carcinogenic, and as well as, negatively diminishes my visibility with a reflective glare. Plastic and rubber should not melt at normal temperatures and I have never encountered this Issue with any car I’ve ever owned.
Front dashboard Is sticky, cracked, and peeling off as well as the front and back door panels.
My Issue pertains to the sticky dash and the same materials used on parts of the door near the handles. When the temperature gets over 80 degrees the material starts to melt and becomes extreme hot and sticky. When I tried to grab papers I left on the dash I had to tear them off and it left a sticky substance. It also can become extremely hot and when I hit any part of the dash when heated it burns and sticks to me. I attempted to contact Lexus and they declined my claim because it Is not a safety Issue to them or the NHTSA.
Extremely terrible material used on the dash and door panels. Sticky black material sticking to my children and their clothes.
Dash. And door panels. Melting.
Dashboard melting and sticky. Dashboard leaves glare when parked or driving during day/hot weather. Contacted dealer, dealer said cant do anything for me. Melting sticky dashboard creates odor.
Sunroof glass exploded for no reason, sending glass particles inside the car while transporting my infant daughter and driving. It Is a miracle nobody got hurt. There Is documented cases of sunroof glass exploding on Lexus cars class action lawsuits. My car has been at the dealer by request of Lexus USA representative scott murphy since last Friday 11/15 and still no resolution. The safety of vehicle owners should not be bargaining chip. These explosion can cause serious damage to vehicle operator and occupants.
The dash Is melting and Is extremely sticky. On sunny days, the sunlight reflects off of the dash and onto the windshield obstructing the driver's view. In addition, anything that gets on the dash sticks and cannot be removed. This debris also reflects on the windshield causing Issues with visibility. I have contacted Lexus directly and have been told they will not repair or replace the dash because this was only a TSB and my car Is now beyond the term for the TSB. This Is something that should be a recall because it prevents the driver from being able to see what Is happening in front of the vehicle and could cause an accident.
Constant engine repairs out of pocket within a short period of time. I have more receipts other than the ones shown.
The dashboard melting when the vehicle was in motion and stationary. Melting dashboard creates a glare in the windshield and makes it impossible to see when driving during the day. Additionally, toxic fumes from melting dashboard make it difficult to breathe when driving.
Can't see out of rear view mirror this Is a safety Issue almost backed up into something in the city and almost hit a car on highway changing lanes because mirror Is cloudy.
Dashboard and door panels are melting to the point that (short) nails get stuck every time we drive. Car Is parked under a roof and it’s still melting. Poor visibility due to shine.
Sticky dashboard and panels even with very minimal driving in the heat, car always parked in covered garage at work and garaged at home, low mileage car rearview mirror coating coming off random engine misfires even after performing carbon TSB.
Door panels melting.
I have recently purchased a preowned 2008 Lexus Isf with the sticky dash board Issue and also the door panels are decaying away. Lexus will not replace my items that are damage due to their poor mixture of the material used to make their dash and panels. Preowned purchased should be cover if the car meet the defective Issue.
Defective dashboard: I have a 2005 Lexus RX 330 and the dashboard has fallen apart. It looks like shattered tempered glass and Is soft and sticky. Parts of the dashboard have fallen off. I spoke with the local dealer and they had no idea when parts would be available.
Dashboard Is melting, causing a shinny intense glare on windshield causes poor visibility on sunny days. . . .
The dashboard on my Lexus Is350 Is melting. The dashboard Is now shiny and sticky.
My son came home from college and said his dashboard was "sticky" and that it Is becoming a nuisance for him to drive. We tried to clean it, but it cannot be cleaned. The dash Is covered with various debris that collects and sticks to it. I then went online to see if anyone had similar problems. I found that Toyota has Issued a wep, but it doesn't cover the month that my son's car was manufactured (it does cover the year it was manufactured).
My car Is six years old. It was purchased new. Over time the rubbery substance my dashboard Is made of has started to melt and become sticky. I've never had this happen in a vehicle and wouldn't expect it from a Lexus. Recently, the sun has started to glare off of the melting dashboard, onto the windshield, making visibility of the road difficult. I'm concerned for my safety. Lexus needs to Issue a recall. Please help.
The plastic dashboard on my vehicle has become wet and sticky because of the sun. There Is a bad glare fr the dashboard making it dangerous to drive in the sun as I cannot see clearly in front of me.
The dashboard of the car melts in the sun causing excessive glare. I have attempted to have it resolved but Lexus will not fix the problem. There Is something wrong when the dashboard can not withstand normal temperatures in FL.
Interior rear view mirror has become discolored, cloudy with dark marks throughout making it difficult to visualize objects in it. Seems to be a common problem occurring with this model of Lexus. It should be covered under warranty but at this time Lexus has not Issued a recall or extended warranty.
I have a beautiful Lexus Is 250 crimson in color that I bought back in Feb 2012. The dashboard has been completely mutilated. . It Is not a good feeling to know how hard you worked your tail off to be 24 years old and be able to afford the car of your dreams, and now just because it Is out in the sun, the dashboard melts. Sure wish I would have known this information when I bought the car. It was not damaged at that point. It looks terrible and it Is impossible to clean it without making scratches all over it. . I spent a good deal of money for my car, a car that Is suppose to be a luxury model, and yet a car that cost much less and Is not luxury looks so much nicer. Everything sticks to it! hair, dust, anything. . . Lexus has plenty of money to fix the product that they made. It Is a defect in their product, so they need to do the right thing and take responsibility for it. You would think, after the first few complaints over 10 years ago, that they would have stopped using whatever material it Is that has been melting. But no they kept using it and were intentionally screwing over many Lexus owners. And they encourage us to pay the money it takes to fix their problem just for them to make more money. If I were to get in a car wreck from the front, my dashboard would completely and easily be crushed. It actually bends at the point where my speedometer's dashboard rim Is. Really? do they think this Is safe and "luxury"??????? I guarantee that if someone that had this problem were to get in a car wreck and get even remotely injured, there would be a lawsuit. Just not safe. . . . Please do the right thing.
I have a 2008 Lexus Is250 that Is out of warranty. The dashboard and door panels literally started melting. I contacted Toyota/Lexus a few months ago since not only was the dashboard melting by the day but the door panels are also melting ruining several pairs of pants. I was told that the vehicle was out of warranty & that there was nothing they could do. After several calls, I received a call from Lexus stating they would replace the dashboard but I was responsible for the labor. I told them I should not have to pay for anything since it's a manufacturer's defect but they said that the labor was my responsibility. So I went ahead and paid the labor and had the dash replaced. Although Lexus also agreed to replace my door panels, the labor cost of $1,300. 00 was absurd and again my responsibility according to Lexus. I wasn't going to pay that amount that's crazy. So my door panels continue to melt. At this point I want to file a complaint to get reimbursed for the $600. 00 labor I had to pay for the dashboard and would like Lexus to replace my door panel at no charge to me.
Dashboard has melted and causing significant viability Issues while driving.
Dash and door panels are extremely sticky.
My Lexus Is350, 2008 has just over 40000 miles. The dash for about a year or more Is sticky. Driver side Is worst. Reflects into windshield making it hard to drive. I called Lexus several times with no help. Try water/ water and soap. Come in and let detailers look at it. Can't do any thing. Call Lexus dot com. Can't do any think. Never put any on dash as windshield Is too close to dash. The reflection makes it hard to drive in sun. Seems like dash glue Is coming up. Seems like maker should have a fix. Its getting dangerous to drive. Wanted to keep car a long time but don't know now. Scary.
My dashboard Is melting horribly. I have contacted Lexus on several occassions. I was told that I first needed to bring it the nearest dealership in my area to have to serviced and get an estimate. The service report stated that the dash was in fact melting and needed to be replaced. I followed up with another call to Lexus and was informed that it was out of warranty and that it could not be replaced. I indicated that that Issue Is by far not a warranty Issue but in fact a defect in the material used to make the dashboard. The visibility on the driver side Is horrible and quite dangerous.
The dash board starting getting worse day by day getting extremely sticky and starting to have melt spots causing a huge glare when I'm driving. I know this Is a big problem on a lot of Lexus Is owner 06-12. I use the wind shield visor all the time and never wipe with chemical.
The dashboard Is melting and the door side panels pieces are falling off as if the plastic Is old and dry. I contacted Lexus who told me that the florida sun was too hot for the cars and that they were not at fault for this and also advised me that they would not cover the defects. Damage Is estimated at $ 1,200. 00 per the dealer.
