Other Fuel System Pump Problems of Lexus IS

Vehicle in motion going 80mph on highway when suddenly jolted and vehicle did not respond to accelerator and check engine/battery lights all came on and slowed to a stop. Restarting engine did not work as it sputtered and went back to idle immediately. Fuel tank was 1/4 full, not due for oil change for another 4000 miles, tire pressure was fixed a day prior to incident, and no other problems with the vehicle. Car towed to Toyota dealership where they tested and said fuel pump malfunction. Toyota and Lexus already have 2 million cars with fuel pump recall, however my specific model Is not included yet.

I went to start my vehicle and it started turning but never started. After a few tries it started and then completely went out every time. I haven't been able to use my vehicle for almost a month now. I got 3 different mechanics to look at it and they still weren't able to get it back working and I all they could tell me was it had something to do with the fuel pump and the high pressure pump.

There Is currently a recall of the fuel delivery pipe on my vehicle which Is a 2010. I am currently in for service and they are telling me the fuel pump also needs to be replaced as it Is leaking as well. They are telling me it Is not under recall and Is almost $2,4000. Per consumer report: Toyota and Lexus are recalling about 1. 8 million vehicles from the 2013 through 2019 model years because their fuel pump could stop working, which could lead to a sudden stall or hesitation while driving. The problem increases the risk of a crash, especially when the vehicle Is traveling at a high speed. Some of these vehicles are being added to an existing recall that was already announced in January. I would like this looked into further as there Is a correlation in 2013-2019 models.

The fuel pump failed while driving on the highway, causing the motor to stall and die. Was unable to restart the motor and was towed from the highway to a dealer where the fuel pump was replaced.
