1 Power Train problem of the 2010 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 01/19/2025

From time to time as im driving to either speed up or slow down, my car has no power and then within 2-3 seconds it hits hard back into gear. I researched it on line about other Lexus and it stated that the problem Is in the computer and it has a glitches in the system that needs to be reset/cleared , there are times when it hits so hard that it feels like you have been rear-ended and hurts your back and neck . This Is very dangerous and should be fixed by Lexus at Lexus expense, thank you.

2 Power Train problem of the 2022 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 03/02/2024

Sudden engine stalling in the middle of a highway with extremely heavy traffic and stopped in the center lane. Needs to wait inside the car with a passenger in a very scary, tense situation and exposed to serious accident, until a towing arrive for about 1. 5 hrs later. The car was towed to the dealer. Since I was in the middle of a highway, I wasn’t able to exit the car to verify the car. But, the engine stalling was compatible with fuel delivery starvation. The fuel tank was full. The starter spin and electric system was functional, so electric voltage was not an Issue. No check engine light on, no alerts messages, nothing. Just suddenly engine power loose, stalling and the engine stop. Check engine light on after a lot of cranking. Never fire back.

3 Power Train problem of the 2023 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 03/03/2023

During driving an Issue arose where the acceleration had to be performed in order to avoid a potential accident. The gas pedal vas depressed but the transmission would not downshift or accelerate. After about a second or more the transmission finally downshifted and the vehicle accelerated. I was able to steer out of trouble and fought the in order to do it. This Is a know Issue and programmed by Lexus. Who in their right mind does not allow the car to accelerate when the gas pedal Is depressed. This Issue ue seems to be with Is500 only. The mechanic did acknowledge a slow shift and this Is by design. I am afraid to pull into traffic since the car will not go. It will start to go then slow down or back off and then after it downshifts it picks up speed. The time Is so slow that I could get hit if the approaching traffic gets to me despite knowing that the distance Is sufficient to safely pull into traffic. The car Is unpredictable. In my other cars I have no Issues like this. I have another Lexus vehicle and it does not do this. Many have reported the slow downshift and Lexus mechanic say it Is by design. A downshift of one second or more at 60 miles an hour Is 88 feet of travel. The car Is not safe to drive because the driver Is not in control. If you have to accelerate to avoid an accident or get out of the way you will not be able until the stupid car decides to. I have driven other Lexus models and they do not do this. Only Is500 does this. It Is so unnatural that you press the gas pedal half way down and nothing. The car has to accelerate when you need to accelerate. Lexus also sells performance but it Is not a performance car. Somebody Is going to die due to this Issue. I am nervous driving the car and I feel like I am out of control. This Is a continuous problem. So far I almost got into 3 accidents due to this Issue that could have resulted in a serious accidents.

4 Power Train problem of the 2006 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

After having our car in the local dealerships shop to fix recalls and a very hard jerking of the car when slowing to 8mph thinking it was the abs accutator, that unit was replaced and system bled and tested we picked the car up and before we got 100 feet away from the shop our car still had the same problem. After much talking with a Lexus forum group I now believe based on their experiences and testing myself it's a hard 2nd to 1st gear downshift ! and through my investigating, this Is a common Issue among Lexus transmission between years 2006 - 2013.

8 Power Train problem of the 2010 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 01/15/2021

While driving at highway speeds cruise control set and not set, slight acceleration vehicle seems to completely loose gear and connection with drive train, the rpms spontaneously jump to 6500 to 7000, move the shifter at this point to neutral. Rmps drop to 1200 and then place the shifter to drive and everything reengages. This condition Is intermittent. It has happened upon accelerating to reach highway speeds.

9 Power Train problem of the 2009 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 01/03/2021

At approximately 85k total miles, Is250 automatic began dropping from 5-6k rpm to 2-3k rpm whenever changing road grade to an incline or decline, usually above 50 mph, dropping to 35 mph on the highway. To maintain proper speed, I would have to downshift from d to s and floor the accelerator. Traction control, parking brake, and abs lights would sometimes coincide with this problem. This continued until I sold the Is250 at 88k miles.

12 Power Train problem of the 2011 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 01/24/2020

Fuel Is not delivered to firing chamber due to failure of fuel pressure sensor. This will cause engine to shut off when on the road. No obd-ii code Is present since the failure of the fuel pressure sensor will put the car in protected mode, no code can be read. When engine Is shut off, it will have no power to steering or brake system, put driver in a very dangerous situation. I was lucky enough to find out after arriving home. The problem appeared the next morning.

13 Power Train problem of the 2008 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 12/01/2019

Ever since I had this car, I always had the constant problem of a weird engine smell of rotten eggs, it overheats out of nowhere constantly after multiple repairs and maintenance paid out of pocket. It would shut off while driving anywhere. These are just some of the receipts.

14 Power Train problem of the 2008 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 05/29/2019

I bought 2008 Lexus Is250 with 123k miles on 05/18/19. I had inspected by a mechanic prior to purchasing it. On one ocassion pror to accident, I backed out of a drive way. When I shifted the automatic transmission from reverse to drive it sudden accelerated for a brief moment, but it was clear in front of me and I remain in control. It only happened to me that one time that week and I thought nothing of it. In the morning of may 29, 2019 the car was parallel parked with a vehicle both in front behind it. My wife slowly back up the car to allow room to pull out of the parking spot. She turn the front wheels towards the curb so that the front of the car would slightly stick out. When she shifted the automatic transmission from reverse to drive, the car suddenly accelerated, jump over the curb and hit the concrete wall of a school. She panicked at the sudden acceleration and does not remember if she step on any pedal during that time. She only knows it accelerated as soon as she shifted to drive and then the car hit the wall. There were no injuries and no other car was involved. We moved the car off the side walk and notified the insurance and the school admin. The insurance declared it a total loss and took ownership of it. A gasoline car accelerate by opening the throttle to allow more air into the engine. The electronic throttle suddenly open due to the physical electronics and/or software controlling it when the transmission Is shift between reverse and drive. Dr. Ronald a. Belt theory seems plausible. If true you would think just changing the software to get an average of voltage samples would prevent the over compensation of the ecu throttle controller cause by low voltage spikes. . Read more...

15 Power Train problem of the 2008 Lexus IS

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

Per the forums and used fb groups, all Isfs year models 2008-2014 are affected the valley plate leak due to the fact that Toyota/Lexus utilized the improper sealant and used the improper amount, leading to the heat exchanger leaking coolant once the original, inadequate sealant begins to disintegrate. This could cause a condition where the engine could fail and someone could get hurt. Furthermore, all Isfs will eventually have a cracked rh manifold on the #8 runner. This can cause a fire hazard in addition to carbon monoxide poisoning. I personally had this Issue on my 2008 and know at least 100 owners who have also had this Issue fixed. I am sure many more are out there.
