Service Brakes Problems of Lexus IS

My car experienced sudden unintended acceleration. I was at a stop light preparing to turn right when my car accelerated of its own accord crashing into the vehicle in front of me. My foot was firmly on the brake, but I had lost control over the vehicle. Whatever electrical defect I experienced, it was sufficient to rev the engine by itself and override the braking system enough that the vehicle advanced forward in an out-of-control manner. It was unintended, unexpected and beyond my ability to control. Failing to recognize the braking system, my vehicle collided into the vehicle a second time. Because my foot was on the brake and my vehicle still advanced forward, I initially thought I had been hit from behind. However, the erratic rpm behavior and the vehicle's continued acceleration while braking confirmed I was no longer in control of the vehicle. Acting promptly, I immediately took the gear shifter out of drive and put into neutral. It was then and only then that I regained control of the vehicle: it stopped accelerating, stopped revving of its own accord and began responding to the braking system. Please note: my foot was not on the gas pedal, for as soon as I took it out of drive, the rpm returned to normal (I. E. The erratic behavior indicated by the tachometer's rpm, stopped). Had my foot been on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal, the revving would have continued to behave as before; but it did not. (I do not have an all-weather floor mat. It Is neither here nor there, because in the event that I did have one, you would expect the rpm behavior to continue when put into neutral; but again, all behavior returned to normal when the vehicle was put in neutral. ) though I am sympathetic to those that panic in a moment of distress, I was of a present enough mind to know what was happening. An electrical engineer with intimate knowledge of the computer system for this vehicle would be the best to assess what went wrong from a technical perspective.

On Friday, September 15, 2023 3:00pm, I had a “horrible” experience with my Lexus this weekend and sudden unintended acceleration. I was sitting at a red light, with my foot on the brake. Without warning the engine began to rev, the tires squealed and the car lurched forward. I through the car into park & turned of the car as quickly as I could react and “thank god” no one was injured and there was no accident. I’ve read of this sudden unintended acceleration but never experienced it until this weekend. It was exactly this. . An unintended, unexpected, uncontrolled acceleration of a vehicle, accompanied by an apparent loss of braking effectiveness. This was not driver error. It Is some kind of mechanical, software problem, electrical problem, or some combination of these factors. There was no driver error. This Is not an Issue with the floor mats. I drove the car home into the garage. I took it to the dealership the first available appointment on Monday. I had another incident on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. I was at the gym. My wife went to move my car as my parking time limit in la jolla had expired. She experience sudden unintended acceleration when the car was in park after she got in the car and started it. No recommended repairs are needed or required at this time. I opened tas case 21326202801. I contacted Lexus product liability team case # 23092500299 but, no one from corporate will look at the car. As I prepared to make a right turn onto a busy street, I suddenly could not brake normally. Instead, I was unable to press the brake down as a balloon like feeling pushed it back up, but it also did not return all the way up to its normal position. The result was I was moving with no way to slow down the car. Fortunately, I was not moving at a high speed and immediately shifted into park. I was fortunate this did not occur while I was at full speed. The brake lights did turn on at the time of the Issue. An independent mechanic suspects a brake booster failure. Just a month before, another mechanic performed routine maintenance and found no signs of this Issue. Just 6 months before, I purchased the vehicle used with no mention of this sort of past Issue.

My Lexus 2012 Is 250 accelerated on its own, brakes did not engage after depressing them x2, and then I crashed into a truck. Air bag did not deploy. Reported to Lexus who assumed no responsibility for incident. Third party inspected car and downloaded black box. Report from Lexus stated that car was drive able and no Issues were found. Car incurred $18,000 in damages and was not drivable at the time of inspection. Witnesses at collision shop will validate such. When speaking to representatives at Lexus to report incident I was told by 2 reps on 2 occasions that this has happened to other vehicles that were the same make and model. Disturbing.

Daily driver of the vehicle for two years was easing into a parking space and applying the brakes when vehicle surged forward over a curb eventually crashing into a tree. After the vehicle went over the curb it went through a chain link fence and down a steep embankment leading to a great deal of chaos and confusion as to whether the brakes continued to be applied, but the driver Is confident that the brakes were being applied when the initial surge occurred. The driver's spouse experienced a similar event about a month earlier when driving about 2 mph down a long driveway. In this instance the engine revved to a higher speed when the brakes were applied but the brakes did stop the car before the engine speed returned to normal.

When braking, or slowing braking and letting go, weird creaking noise Is made. Lexus Is aware of these Issues but will do nothing to help even when car was still under warranty.

I was driving on a local country road at about 15-20 mph (having just come out of a sharp turn). When I stepped on the accelerator after the turn, it suddenly began to "gun", at which point I stepped on the brake and to my horror got no response. I kept my foot on the brake, but the accelerator continued to rev or gun horrifyingly and the car continued to speed up. At another sharp turn I went off the road and sideswiped a tree, drove through the bedroom of a house (in one wall and out the other) and finally stopped in another tree. After an hour of police, fire, and other emergency personnel attempting to extricate me from the car, they had to remove the roof of the car to get me out of the vehicle. I was airlifted to the nearest hospital with a trauma center, where I was diagnosed with a fractured sternum, three broken ribs, two fractured vertebrae, and a lacerated liver. I was in the hospital for three days, after which I was released with a custom-fitted back brace that I was required to wear for the next six weeks. Fortunately, I was not permanently injured, but I suffer back pain regularly as a result of the fractured vertebrae.
