The dashboard appears to be decomposing, creating a sticky top layer which in addition to being extremely uncomfortable Is reflective in direct sunlight obscuring general visibility and oncoming traffic. There was a similar occurrence with previous Toyota and Lexus models: the problem - the dashboards in certain Toyota and Lexus models, particularly those from 2003-2011, were made with a material that was prone to melting and becoming sticky under prolonged exposure to heat and sunlight. This could lead to the dashboard cracking, becoming glossy, and even oozing a sticky, shiny substance. Affected models - most commonly affected models included the 4th generation 4runner, 3rd generation avalon, 6th generation camry, 1st generation camry hybrid, 1st generation sienna, and 1st generation solara. Toyota's response - Toyota responded to the Issue with various measures, including: warranty extensions: Toyota announced extending warranty coverage on affected dashboards to 10 years for some models. Customer campaigns - some Toyota models were the subject of specific campaigns to address the sticky dashboard Issue. Reimbursement programs: Toyota offered reimbursement for repairs performed on affected dashboards. Class action lawsuits - several class action lawsuits were filed against Toyota and other automakers due to the melting dashboard Issue. Safety concerns - the melting dashboards could also cause glare on the windshield, making it difficult for drivers to see, which raised safety concerns.

Under hot conditions the dashboard and door materials starts to become sticky and it becomes ultra shiny which reflects on the windshield and when the sun Is up you can totally loose visibility in front of you, has happened to me a few time when I have to stop because it becomes very dangerous.

This model was affected by the originally cosmetic, but well documented "sticky dash" recall. I am an automotive enthusiast who has worked within the industry for over 12 years, including notifying customers of NHTSA recalls and assisting with scheduling recalls to be performed. The dashboard can be severely melted to the point of becoming a mirror finish, I was driving at night in the headlights from an opposing truck reflected off the shiny surface of the dashboard having been melted by sunlight. I have great vision and was wearing prescription lenses, the incident nearly caused an oncoming collision. I slid into a ditch briefly and did not sustain damage to my vehicle.

The dashboard Is melting a known error to Lexus and when the sun hits it reflects off the melted dash and puts a glare on the windshield. Lexus knew about the problem and instead of doing a recall they did an extended warranty back in 2017. I took mine in and assumed they replaced dash and door panels. Called this year because my dash was melting and they stated all they did was the door panels back in 2017. I have informed my local dealership as well as corporate and neither seem willing to help or fix the Issue. There are all kinds of write up online about this Issue. It Is definitely a safety Issue that should have been addressed a while back but wasn’t.

The dashboard Is melting - it Is sticky and shiny. The glare it causes on the windshield Is horrific. I have a very difficult time seeing when the sun Is out. An independent service center has inspected and confirmed it Is caused by the melting dashboard. I first noticed it a few months ago. I travel to nashville often, which Is a 3. 5 hour drive, and the sight obstruction at interstate driving speeds and traffic Is challenging to say the least. I am afraid to drive my car with my granddaughter in with me because it Is truly dangerous.

The dashboard Is sticky/melting causing it to be extremely shiny. It Is available for inspection upon request. Due to the shininess of the dashboard, it causes a glare on the windshield during the daytime. This glare causes difficulty with being able to safely see through the windshield.

My car unfortunately Is subject to the sticky/melting dash which Is notorious of being a huge problem with my generation of vehicle. That being the 2nd generation of Lexus Is250/350/f which affect the models made from 2006-2013. Lexus made a “customer offer” which entitled owners being able to go get it fix, however not all owners were made aware of this due to it not being a full on recall but more of a “promotion” that Lexus was doing. I unfortunately was one of many other owners who were not made aware of the promotion taking place and are now according to Lexus too late to fix the Issue because the offer “expired”. My sticky dash in particular Is very bad. It reflects off into the windshield making it very difficult to see the road clearly when it Is glaring due to the sticky/melting dash. It not only poses a safety hazard for me, but to everyone else on the road due to it not letting me see clearly due to how bad the glare Is. I was told by Lexus that there Is nothing they can do but to pay out of my pocket (3-4k) in order to have it replaced. Lexus claims to “care” for their customers yet are not owning up to help us owners because there special promotion Is expired. Knowing how bad the Issue was and how practically all cars were subject to the Issue, why not make a recall instead of a “promotion”. They screwed over their customers. They screwed over me. I can’t drive my car without fearing for my safety, all due to Lexus not wanted to fix their error when they made the dashboard incorrectly. I hope something can be done because I know there are many other Lexus Is250/350/f owners out there that were unfortunate to not have it fix also. It should be a recall, not some limited “promotion” that only a few knew about. It Is a “if you were lucky to know” sort of deal and that should not be the case. Especially not when it starts to affect the safety of others and one self.

The dashboard Is defective in that it melts when exposed to heat and becomes sticky. Although initially it started off as a cosmetic Issue, the melting of the dashboard causes it to be very glossy to the point where it reflects onto the front windshield and creates a blind spot on the front windshield when driving. This poses an immediate safety hazard when driving as it's sometimes difficult to see objects that are right in front of the car while driving. The defective dashboard has been confirmed by the dealer and manufacturer. Although the manufacturer Issued a customer support program to replace the dashboard, it was not a mandatory recall and the support program has since expired. Additionally, the support program initially described the malfunction as only a cosmetic Issue. However, over time, this cosmetic Issue has started to impact drivability in certain conditions while putting the driver and others at risk.

My dashboard Is melting due to a manufacturing defect. The glare from my dashboard makes driving difficult as the glare can blind you. The chemical smell from the melting Is horrible. I have placed a dash cover on which has helped but if I am in an accident this dash cover will impede the correct deployment of my airbag on the passenger side. Also the inside door panels are melting and are becoming a "putty" like substance. Everything sticks to it. Including my clothes. While driving I have had to jerk my arm from the rest on the door trim to remove it. This can cause my vehicle to possibly swerve off the road or into oncoming traffic. Warranty enhancement program – zld and customer support program zlz were the remedies for this Issue. But these have expired. The manufacturer will not honor this or consider this a safety / hazardous Issue and correct it now. This Is a safety Issue and needs to be addressed.

I have a Lexus Is250, the dashboard Is sticky and shiny. When I am driving the car in the sunny days, because of the shiny dashboard , if reflects the sunshine to my windshield, which makes me very hard to see the road because of this. As the result, if the sunshine Is too strong some times, I have to hit my brake to slowdown on the highway, to make sure I get a clear view again. This Is definitely put myself and other cars around me in a huge risk. Looks this Is a common Issue for some Lexus models, Lexus had a program to fix the Issue, but the program does not notify the owner and the program expired already! means thousands of people are driving cars with the Issue, but never get repaired, which brings potential risks on the highway!.

I purchased a previously-owned Lexus Is 250 in 2017. At the time I was unaware of the "melting dashboard" Issue that Is associated with the make and model. As I begin to notice the sticky appearance of the dashboard, I began to conduct some research. During my research, I found that Toyota corporation was aware of the situation and Issued an extended warranty and that a recall has never been Issued. Unfortunately, my complaints to Lexus other reiterated this decision. The melting dashboard has become a safety concern. The dash Is shining and obstructs my view of the road.

The rear view mirror has become unusable- mirror has black scratches all over on the inside & keeps getting worse. Do a google search & you'll find 100s of complaints on forums & chats. It's 1500 bux to get this replaced & it's not a users fault! Lexus has fully aware of this for years & never did a recall. I can't see from this mirror at all & def. Not at night. If I get in a wreck, it will be 100% on Lexus!.

Lexus Is250 has a melting dashboard and it's really hard to drive when the sun Is out . . . It glares out your vision when driving . . . I was researching and saw some people got a recall for the melting dashboard since it's really unsafe to drive it with the dashboard starting to melt . . In the picture I added you can see how my dashboard Is shiny because its melting and sticky too.

The dashboard of the car becomes sticky and shiny when under the sun. This creates glare on the windshield of the car and Is so bright that it makes it hard to see the road during the daytime.

Over time, the rearview mirror has darkened with black spots and lines making it difficult to see during the day. Lexus Is aware of the problem, but will not replace the mirror without a recall. The defect can be seen on rearview mirrors for sale on ebay. I was advised by Lexus service that if it doesn't pass safety check inspection to stick on a temporary mirror. They know there Is a problem and it Is a safety Issue. There must be a recall before someone dies. I find myself looking longer into the mirror, taking my eyes off the road, to discern the traffic behind. I took pictures, but on ebay, if you look close, you can see the spotting and lines on the used mirrors for sale. It's not an Isolated incident. Especially by the compass in the right hand side there are noticeable parallel diagonal lines. The rest of the mirror Is spotty with lines and dark.

The dashboard melting when the vehicle was in motion and stationary. Melting dashboard creates a glare in the windshield and makes it impossible to see when driving during the day. Additionally, toxic fumes from melting dashboard make it difficult to breathe when driving.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Lexus Is250. The contact stated that her dashboard had been melting and that the glare from the dashboard had affected her visibility while driving at various speeds. The contact spoke with tom wood Lexus 4610 e 96th st, indianapolis, in 46240 (317) 580-6888 where they informed her that there was a limited time warranty to have the vehicle serviced for this matter; however, she was informed that she missed the deadline for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and gave her the same information. They offered the contact no further assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. Jo.

The driver seat makes a loud noise when moving back and forth to adjust the position. Vibratation Is strong when you come to a stop and it feels like the car will die out. And dangerous to drive on a sunny day because of the glare from the dashboard. I have called dealership with no luck.

Speckled/scratched rear view mirror. Visibility on the rear view mirror Is becoming difficult due to scratches and spots that just came by itself as time has passed. This Issue Is becoming a serious safety Issue.

I have recently purchased a preowned 2008 Lexus Isf with the sticky dash board Issue and also the door panels are decaying away. Lexus will not replace my items that are damage due to their poor mixture of the material used to make their dash and panels. Preowned purchased should be cover if the car meet the defective Issue.

Inside rear view mirror Is discolored and Is difficult to see from. The mirror has not been damaged or subjected to extreme conditions. The vehicle has been garaged 80% of the time. This Is not normal wear and tear, as I have had vehicles older than this one and have not experienced deterioration of the mirror. The problem started in 2010 and Is getting worse. I can barely see out of the mirror. The "fix" Is to replace the mirror at a cost of nearly $1300. 00. It appears as this Is a common complaint for owners of this vehicle.

My dashboard has a sticky substance, causing a glare on my windshield and blocking my ability to see out of my front window. I recently learned Lexus has been aware of this Issue for years, but only considered it a "cosmetic defect. " however, per the photographs, this defect Is causing significant impairment to my ability to see out. I have had my car serviced at nalley Lexus in smyrna, GA since I first owned it and the recall was never brought to my attention because they deemed it "cosmetic. " I have sent pictures to Lexus's corporate offices showing the blocked visibility - the same pictures I am attaching to this claim. They offered me $400 towards the $2000-2500 replacement cost. I am unsure of the exact date which the Issue started. It has progressively worsened. Only in the past month did I begin searching online for solutions and found this Is a well-known Lexus/Toyota defect. The interior dashboard becomes sticky and has formed spots of smooth areas that dangerously reflect sunlight into the driver's eyes. The dashboard has started to pit and crack leaving pieces of melted dash on the interior of the car. The door panels seem to be made of the same material as the dash, as they too are pitting and cracking.

My dashboard Is melting at an extremely fast pace. I can barely see if the sun Is shining in my car the right way, dash and side panels are melting, called Lexus they won't do anything about it.

Rear view mirror has black spots forming. It Is obstructing the view from the rear view mirror thus creating a potential safety hazard. Black spots are forming inside the mirror and not on the surface.

Melted dashboard and door panels - 2006 Lexus Is350 - under heat and humidity, the dashboard on certain Lexus models melt which gives off a glare to the driver and passenger which makes it difficult to see the road during the day without sunglasses. This Is a hazard because I can not see the car in front of me when it brakes unless I wear sunglasses. Lexus has given a complimentary satisfaction repair but with a deadline to be on a waiting list. This should not be a "complimentary" repair, this should be a mandatory replacement for the hazard it can cause the driver and the drivers on the road. I have reported this to Lexus head quarters and they denied my request for repair due to not being on the list by end of may 2017. When in motion, this car should not be operated by anyone with visibility Issues.
