Tl the contact owns a 2009 Lexus is 250. While driving approximately 20 mph, the check engine and traction control indicators illuminated and the vehicle would not properly accelerate. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 65,000.
I was driving home from a mountain community while it was snowing. I activated my ect snow button on my vehicle and proceeded to go up and down two large snow covered mountains. After successfully traversing the terrain, I approached a stop sign when I began to lose control of the car. My safety features , trac and ect activated and righted the vehicle, however, after the vehicle was righted, the vehicle suddenly loss power and seemed as if it stopped. The car was shut off and turned back on, however, the brake, abs, and slip indicator lights remained illuminated. I proceeded to drive on the main road and went down two hills before approaching a hill and began to climb the hill, at which time my rear wheels began to spin and I lost control of the vehicle and turned 180 degrees in the middle of the road. At that time, I decided to go back to my original location, however, trac, ect, nor my brakes were functioning. I slowly went down the hill and approached the first hill I had gone down and immediately, loss traction and spun around into a ditch. Two individuals helped me get the car righted and back on the road, at which I again spun around and ended up in the front yard of vacant house. The car remains at that location and is awaiting pick up by the manufacturer with none of the safety features functioning. I was very fortunate that I was not injured nor did I injure anyone else. The car is currently unable to be driven and will be towed to the nearest Lexus dealer on or about 12/28/2010.
I have an Is250 for four years. In the last few days, I have experienced a vsc and check engine lights on. The car looses power and can't be driven securely once this happens. This had caused almost two accidents for me on the expressway as I drive about 40 miles each way to my office on a daily basis. Due to this problem and the security risk, I took the car to the dealer to get the problem fixed. I paid $100 just to check the car. The dealer said the problem was related with the springs on the valves that probably needed to be replaced. I took the car home as I did not have the $4k to repair this. On 7/5/10, I opened an incident with Lexus corporation and the very next day I saw on the news the recall on this issue. I followed up with Lexus on 7/6/10 about this and they stated they were looking into this. I followed up again on 7/9/10 (I called this time) and they said they would call me back but none called back so I took the car to the dealership as I felt it was happening more often and was very unsecured to drive. The dealer stated my particular model was not part of the new recall and did not care much about my safety. I sent a follow up email on 7/15/10 to Lexus corporation and they said again they would get back to me. I called again today as I have not heard back from them. Our security is impacted driving this car and does not seem that Lexus corporation is even interested into listening a security concern from a consumer at this time. Please let us know what we can do to get this security risk mitigated for my family and myself. Thanks.
