Unknown Or Other problem #1

For 3-years we have complained to the dealership regarding the musty smell comming from the a/c vents. We were advised by the dealship to cut off the a/c before arriving home to allow the unit to drain. We also were advised to spray lysol into the outside cowl vents which did improve the odor but this a/c musty smell has always been an issue and is all over the internet. On 12/20/2011, we noticed water was apparently entering the passenger compartment. The carpet was wet and there was excessive moisture and water under carpet. Upon noticing this problem we scheduled an appointment with the dealership. I was advised that most likely, the a/c drain flap was stuck and correction for this defect required removal of the drain flap to allow the drain to flow and not back up and enter the passenger compartment. The dealer stated this defect has occurred before involving the Is250. Cost to correct this defect was $240 because the transmission had to be dropped to access the drain line. Removing the water/moisture and drying the carpet was estimated at $2k. Again, this obvious defect is all over the net and apparently well known by the dealership. All Lexus owners should be nofied by Lexus so all can avoid this potential health issue involving mold and the high cost of repair. If the water is not noticed and water continues to build up in the a/c and under the carpets serious mold related health issues could occur. I don't know how long our car leaked or backed up water but a musty smell for for the past 3-years has been not only offensive but dangerous considering the health hazards associated with mold here in florida. I respectfully submit that this defect should be addressed imediately.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Hvac evaporator drain blockage resulting in repeated flooded interior and carpet mold.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Compartment of where the cabin air filter is for the 2007 Lexus is 250, a bolt is rusting and the dealership acknowledges the fact but fails to fix the issue. They claim that this is common for the bolt to rust.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

I was turning into a 10 feet deep strip parking lot and the Lexus Is250 (2010) I was driving suddenly accelerated and crashed into a parked car. I do not recall either stepping on the accelerator or the brake. The distance from turning into the parking lot and the car I hit was approximately 5 feet. I did not have time to react. The airbags opened and the front was massively damaged.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Issues with Lexus Is250 service recall reagarding insufficient tightening of the fuel pressure sensor, after service noticed faint smell of gas inside air cabin on different occasions.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

A young lady parked her 2006 is 250 Lexus, equipped with a "Smart key" system, in her attached garage which was on the ground floor of her three story townhouse. She exited the vehicle with the "key fob" on her person, but either inadvertently forgot to shut down the engine or pushed the start button in an effort to do so but was unsuccessful. The young lady did not realize the vehicle was running and after entering her townhouse from the garage placed the "key fob" on a table on the second floor. The young lady remained in her townhouse with the vehicle running in the garage until it ran out of gasoline and stopped. The young lady was subsequently found dead in her bathroom on the third floor. The death was determined to have been caused by carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of the vehicle having been left running in the garage. The vehicle lacked a "shut-down" switch to shut the engine off when unoccupied and inert for an interval of time and/or lacked an adequate aural warning that the "key fob" was being removed from the vehicle while it was running or the operator had exited the vehicle while the engine was running.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

The automatic dimming rearview mirror on my Lexus may present a hazard due to its failure to adequately dim bright trailing headlights quickly and sufficiently, sometimes resulting in a several second blinding by headlight in following cars. My Lexus dealer says that the mirror is to "spec" and that they cannot fix it. I demonstrated to the dealer that the mirror took 5 seconds to start to respond to a trailing headlight and another 2 seconds to darken. Thus, for example, a truck could pull into the lane behind the Lexus and the mirror would take 7 seconds to fully dim the truck's headlights. In addition, there is no way to keep the mirror dim, that is, when the trailing light ceases the mirror brightens. In addition, in a brightly lit situation, such as on a highway with good overhead lighting, the mirror "thinks" it's daylight and will not dim at all, even when a very bright headlight from a following car/truck is shining into it. This is a dangerous application of a "half-way" technology that has not been developed fully and could lead to a dangerous situation. For both safety and utility, a simple "flip" rearview mirror that stays dim and is dim enough to prevent blinding by trailing headlights would be much safer than the high-tech, but unsafe, Lexus rearview mirror.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Wife was driving on the interstate with the cruise on doing about 65 mph, and she decided to pass a truck. She accellerated slightly, and the car suddenly "floored" to over 90 mph and the rpm's went all the way up. She truned off the cruise, but it wouldn't slow down. She tried to brake, but the engine was still reving at the highest speed. She forced herself off into the grassy median and sat on the brake until she could jam the transmission into park and turn off the engine. Veh towed to Lexus dealer. Tech couldn't figure out what was causing this, but after talking to Lexus headquarters, they found that the rubber car mat and the back of the accellerator somehow connected and forced the car to be "floored". You could not tell by looking at the mat that it was connected to the accellerator. My wife would of died if there had been another vehicle close to her. No accident or injury. I have no complaint with the dealer. They did everything they could to help.
