On October 22, 2022 while driving on the freeway at 55 mph my front driver side tire lost all pressure rapidly. Luckily, I had run flat tires that prevented a dangerous incident to myself and fellow drivers. I took my car to a local tire shop, and they identified extreme inner wear of the tire that ripped through the sidewall. This similar damage happened once before. I have replaced two sets of tires in under 30,000 miles. Based on an online search I have found that this issue is widespread to Lexus owners. . Read more...

When steering wheel is turned to the right while driving. A metal scraping noise occurs. This has been fixed several times but keeps occuring more often. This only happens when car is in motion. And I believe it has something to do with the placement of the brake shield. As if something is pressing on it.

I experienced unusual rear tire wear. I take my Lexus in for service at the Lexus dealer every 5000 miles. I purchased the car at 32,000 miles. When I went in for my 45,000 mile service this week, I was told I needed 2 new rear tires. They were worn excessively on the inside tread and the inside wall had metal threads showing. Yes I always keep my tires properly inflated. Of course I purchased new tires and had an alignment done. I was told by the Lexus dealer and by another car repair shop that there was nothing that I could do to prevent the tires from wearing out every 15,000 miles even with a yearly alignment. They both told me the front and rear tires are different sizes and therefore cannot be rotated and it was something about how Lexus has this car set up, something with the lower control arms or something. I went online to some Lexus owners forums and discovered that this is a common problem with the Lexus is models. From a safety standpoint I am concerned that the tires wore so quickly from my 40,000 to 45,000 mile service and had I not took it in to the dealer when I did, I may have a serious blowout or something. Also I am wondering why the dealer who did my service did not notice unusual tire wear at 40,000 miles.

Takata recall. While driving the vehicle the lights will just go off or flicker. This can sometimes be corrected by turning the lights off then back on. This can happen while driving or idlelight bulbs have been replace and the problem still persist. Check vsc light on with no problems with the engine. Coke's on and off for years.

The problem that many Is250 Lexus owners are having with the front tires wearing out or tearing from the inside. I have found that the issue is the suspension where the front tire and a cotter pin meet every time you hit a bump or pot hole. This has caused great damage to both front tires to the extent where you can see the steel belt. Lexus has gone as far as to blame the tire manufacture and has not taken responsibility for the problem. I ask that this issue be investigated before a life is lost due to negligence.
I hit a pothole on my way to work at 4:55pm on Monday Feb. 24,2014. The pothole was at the intersection of cumberland Ave and higgins Ave. I was going north on cumberland towards talcott Ave, park ridge. As I approached higgins Ave, red light turned on. I was behind one car when the green light turned on. The car in front of me was able to avoid the pothole, but since I was right behind, I did not. The moment I hit this pothole with my front, left tire my dashboard displayed a message that I have low pressure in the tire. Automatically my wheel started pulling me to the side. I drove up cumberland Ave for approximately 1 block and pulled to the nearest side street that was on my right: glenlake Ave. I got out of the car to find a flat tire. By the time I got help, it was 5:45pm. I called park ridge police department asking what I should do and I was directed to file a claim towards my insurance. I wanted to make a picture of the pot hole but considering higgins Ave and cumberland Ave is a large, busy intersection, I was not able to stop and take a picture. Today, Feb. 26,2014, I was going the same way to work and I found the pothole to be patched up. I want to know who will pay for my damaged tire? the pothole must have been very deep since upon impact, I automatically got a flat. I also wanted to add that I was starting off from a full stop. I did not drive more than 15 mph. All in all, this situation is causing me a lot of inconvenience and I want to know if the city of chicago will reimburse me for the costs that I now have.

The contact owns a 2009 Lexus Is250. While driving approximately 15 mph, the contact drove over a pot hole and the tire pressure warning light illuminated. After adding air to the tire, the contact noticed that air continued to escape from the tire. The tire was replaced with the spare, and the contact inspected the wheel casing and noticed two screws that were exposed in the wheel housing. The contact stated that the screws were what punctured the tire. The contact stated that the design of the vehicle was dangerous to drive in bad winter weather. The manufacturer was contacted and stated they would cover the cost to tow the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The approximate failure mileage was 11,300. Updated 04/1211 updated 04/12/lj.

There appears to be a design defect relative to the clearance of the front tires with the wheel wells. I was driving on the freeway and suddenly heard a loud thumping which I assumed was the tires because as I slowed, the noise slowed and then stopped. I got to my destination only a few minutes away and checked the tires to find that the furthest interior 1 inch of tire tread of my right tire had been ripped off and exposed a portion of the steel radial. The remainder of the tread of the right tire was in tact, and had about 1/4 inch of tread, indicating to me that the tires were not worn down at all. I had 33,000 miles on the car, nearly all freeway. I believe that the tires make contact with the inside of the wheel wells when you attempt to turn as tight as possible, as in making a u-turn. I base this on my recalling making sharp u-turns and hearing a rubbing/grinding sound coming from the tires. I went to the Lexus dealership in glendale, CA, and informed the service department of my belief and showed them the tires. They stated that the tires were not drivable (which was obvious) but that it was just normal wear-and-tear. I then showed them the remaining tread on the tires and their excuse was that the alignment must be off and causing that part of the tire to wear quicker. They rejected my demand that they replace the tires on grounds that the car had a design defect. I was forced to buy replacement tires at my expense.
