The contact owns a 2001 Lexus Ls430 equipped with cooper tires, tire line: evolution tour, tire size: 225/60/r16, dot number: u9x31lp4619. The contact stated that she felt the vehicle wobble while driving and noticed that the rear driver’s side tire tread belt had separated after the tires were rotated and balanced at a tire shop. The contact took the vehicle back to the tire shop and was informed that the rear driver’s side tire needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired with another brand of tire. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,656.

The tire pressure warning system failed. The consumer experienced a flat tire while driving. The cause has yet to be determined. There were seven incidents where the tpws (tire pressure warning system) had either provided a false positive or not indicated real tire pressure low condition that the mileage since tpws initialization. The consumer requested to be informed of the following: the identification of the failure, reason for the failure, what corrective action was taken and to be walked through a test protocol that validates that the action taken had indeed corrected the failure. Lexus has been unable and or unwilling to share any of the information requested and refused to keep the vehicle and test sufficiently.
