3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2005 Lexus LS430

Failure Date: 01/08/2011

As I was driving along the road, two miles from my house in a residential area. The car suddenly and drastically began to accelerate. I remember vividly pressing the brake pedal multiple times but it failed to decelerate the car at all. Afraid as I was, I ceased to step on the brake or the gas pedal, the car continued accelerating and kept gaining momentum. At that point, I was trying to avoid hitting the cars in front and incoming cars from the other direction of the road. I drove for about a half mile on and off the right side curbside, as clipping mailboxes along the way. At that point I realized that I would not be able to stop, decelerate, nor control the car. In attempt the avoid driving into the main road that led into a busy four-way intersection, I panicked and removed my seat belt in attempt to evacuate the car. The car door, however would not open. I was in complete shock and alarmed as the car continued to accelerate and as it drove into a head-on collision with a tree. Following the severe impact, I entirely lost consciousness. Following the accident I spent 10 hours in the operation room, and I had to stay for care in the hospital and skill facility for two and half months. From the accident my arm was injured and after 8 months, and it still immobile. I'm still going through series of physical therapy on a weekly basis. Updated ivoq 09/14/11.

Approached an intersection with a red light while driving approximately 40mph. When I pressed my brakes from about a block away, my 2001 Lexus Ls430 suddenly surged. I had two feet on the brake and also tried to put the car in neutral, then park. The car did not slow down. Was going approximately 50mph when I rear-ended someone because my car would not stop. My car was totaled, both driver and passenger airbags deployed. I was using the floor mat that came with the vehicle and it was fastened. I filed a complaint with Toyota the day after the accident, and received a response on Jan. 21, 2010. Toyota stated in the letter that they found no sticking of the accelerator and that it was virtually impossible for both the brakes and the throttle to fail at the same time.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Lexus LS430

Failure Date: 07/12/2004

I have a 2004 Lexus LS 430 that has a random problem that the dealers tell me is normal. On occasion when I roll to a stop the car lunges forward on its own forcing me to apply extreme pressure on the brake to stop the vehicle. It accelerates just for a split 2nd then stops. I have learned to stop approx. 20' behind a vehicle just in case the car decides it wants to lunge forward. This has happened no less than 6 times since we purchased the vehicle new in 10/2003. I have explained the problem to the dealer at least 4 times and they tell me they can not find a problem and its normal. With the latest Toyota problems I suspect there is an electrical problem and I wanted to report the problem to you.
