One problem related to gas recirculation valve (egr valve) has been reported for the 2008 Lexus LS460. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The "starter" on my 2008 Lexus LS 460 l failed after only 7 years and 114k miles of service. It is unfathomable and unconscionable that the "starter" should fail in 7 years at 114k miles on any vehicle; leaving me with a $1,900 financial burden for the repair job. It is my understanding that a "engine and engine cooling: engine" recall, id # 86449, to replace the "engine coils/springs," called for the removal of the "starter" in order to perform the "engine coils/springs" repair, thus compromising the integrity of the "starter," thus causing the "starter" to fail prematurely. Based on my internet research, I have found numerous accounts of "starter" failure on Lexus vehicles that have had the "engine coils/springs" recall repair. It is my intent to bring this information to the forefront of the NHTSA, as a possible "recall" for a defective "starter," and as a remedy for Lexus car owners who have had recall id # 86449 performed on their vehicles resulting in the compromisation of the "starter" as a result of this recall repair.
