Failure Date: 01/03/2019

I purchased this car in 2018 and it had less than 75,000 miles on it. I've recently noticed that whenever I press the brake pedal, there is a clicking/popping sound. I'm unsure what it is. I know that it shouldn't be happening. I've read on this site that it maybe the brake actuator. Is there a recall for this problem since it's been brought to Lexus/Toyota attention?.

5 Service Brakes problem

While driving the car, car warnings on my instrument panel began flashing stating "check abs", "check vsc", "check brake system", and "stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately. Contact a dealer".

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2016

While braking gradually, with the brake pedal in a steady position, the car lurches/pulses, the tires makes loud skidding sound then the car comes to a hard stop as though it has slammed into something. This has happened on multiple occasions at low speeds, where it feels like im pressing the brake and letting go, and pressing again, but in reality, the brakes are being pressed at a constant pressure. This is different than the abs feeling, as the brake pedal does not travel beneath my foot, and the release and grabbing of the brakes seem very slow. It happen the first time with about 50,000 miles, going about 25-30 mph. Then with 86,000, going about 5-7 mph.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2016

The brakes have a chattering noise and feel through the pedal while stopped, when you release them. The car can be in park, and it still does it. It's a known problem, but Toyota is doing their best to avoid repairing it under the newly extended warranty on the "brake actuator". It's 100% repeatable, as many times as you like, if the engine is running and the brake pedal is pushed and released.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Lexus Ls460. While driving approximately 35 mph, the brakes seized and released. All of the instrument panel indicators illuminated, including the "please stop and call the dealer immediately" warning message. The vehicle was taken to wilde Lexus sarasota (941-924-3040, located at 4883 clark rd, sarasota, FL 34233) where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the extended warranty was expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. The VIN was not provided.

Every time you're pressing the brake you get a clicking and a knocking noise they'll tell you that is normal are there not sure what it is but we need to get online and read about it everybody is complaining about it because they say sometimes you can replace the actuator but that's about $4,000 lots of complaints online writing about this, I just bought the car a week ago.

Brake actuator is faulty and Lexus knows this but refuses to fix or repair. I have to spend 3k to have it done myself. Please help make them accountable and reimburse us for the service and parts.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2015

While braking gradually to a stoplight, with the brake pedal in a steady position, the car lurches/pulses to a stop. This has happened on multiple occasions at low speeds, where it feels like the driver is pressing the brake and letting go, and pressing again, but in reality, the brakes are being pressed at a constant pressure. The car takes longer to brake than the driver intends, since the brakes slowly pulse. This is different than the abs feeling, as the brake pedal does not travel beneath the driver's foot, and the release and grabbing of the brakes seem very slow.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2015

Brakes making ticking noise when backing.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2015

I noticed that when I push the brakes I hear clicking noise and brakes acts heavily. I did a research on this issue and I found many complaints from Lexus owners. Some owners were lucky to have Lexus dealer replace the abs actuator for them and other not. Lexus dealers told some Ls460 owners that they changed the vendor of the abs actuator due a malfunction error. Currently I'm concerned to drive the car on the highway as a fear to loose braking power. I tried to contact Lexus but they don't care. Please help ahmed hassanin mechanical engineer 513-704-1315.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

I am experiencing a click or series of clicks when I depress the brake pedal. Based on accounts and research of other owners, this is a common problem with faulty brake actuators. It appears that Lexus is aware of the situation and I wanted to report this to the NHTSA database to potentially steer this towards a recall.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2014

I drove my car over to pick my granson up we went to the park, when I was taking him home the vsc code came on and said take care to dealer for service, engine light came on as well. I call and made an apointment immediately and they told me to leave the vehicle and they would run diagnostics see what was causing it. The next day they cleared the code called and told me to pick up. When I was leaving the same lights came on again (engine, vsc etc). Got out of the car and told service rep. That the same thing was happening again. I left the car over the weekend and they call and said it was a communication error and the computer wasn't communicating with the parking brake. I truly believe this is a safety issue and should be addressed by the manufacturer.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2013

The contact owns a 2008 Lexus Ls460. The contact heard an abnormal noise when the brake pedal was depressed. The dealer stated that the brake actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 75,000.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2013

We had lack of power engine and steering problems in the past with this vehicle. We filed a lemon law and supposedly they fixed it. Now the pcs, vsc, anti skid, air bags, brakes, anti-lock brakes and other alarms came on again. This time the beeping sound is not on continuously but the alarms are on all the time. The power assist on the breaks and the anti-lock brake stopped working all of a sudden. We noted the rear driver side window works ok, the front driver side window does not go up or down automatically you have to keep the button pressed, the front and rear passenger windows do not go down all the way and when they go up they bounce back half the way. We changed the battery thinking that was the problem but the problem continued. We inspected the fluid levels and all breaks and all other fluids levels are ok. At this time we are very scared of this vehicle since the breaks can stop working anytime. If you know it is doing it you can drive extremely careful and very slowly, but the problem can appear anytime. If the breaks stop working when you really need them it could be fatal. We sent the vehicle for inspection the first time, but the alarms went away and everything went normal again. This second time the alarms and all malfunctions stayed until we brought the vehicle to the dealer. The brakes' assist stopped working all of a sudden, the anti lock breaks and stability control stopped working this second time without notice. I have never seen something as dangerous as this issue in any car we have owned or driven in my life. There is a main design issue. The breaks and all systems should not simply stop working while you are driving. I search the internet and there are many other people with the same intrinsic problem. We video taped the problem and took pictures if you need them, please email me or contact me.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2011

In oct of 2011 brakes would seem to lock up for no apparent reason. . . I took Lexus to dealer and they could not establish any reason. . . . This would happen, several times, again and after stopping would clear up and drive normally. The last time it stopped dead while driving in city traffic at around 30 mph several dash lights came on such as; abs, vsc, check brakes, brake malfunction. I was able to get car to go again and took it to torrence Lexus for their inspection. . . They are working on now. . . . My wife will not drive the car for fear of the brakes locking up at high speeds. . . . I'm getting to that point myself.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2009

Pulsating brakes uneven braking resulting in a lurching motion when stopping.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2008

We've purchased a 2008 Lexus 460 on Jan 2008, within few months we started noticing a jerking reaction of the engine while the car was stopped or idling in gear most of the time. Over time we've taken the car to the dealer (at least 4 times) with no substantial improvements, they've upgraded the transmission software checked it out and could not come up with a fix. The last was in November 09 and we were told to contact the CO. Fo factory rep to inspect the car. So far they have not inspected the car and we are afraid that it may cause to an accident.
