7 Tire problem of the 2001 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 11/24/2023

225 / 70 r 16 a tire shop inspected my tires and said that all 4 of my belts are separating and indicated to me a convex shape that peaks in the center of the steel belt. These tires were purchased new some years ago when they were balanced, struts replaced, and full alignment, yet at speeds 55+ the car made a vibration that no shop was able to identify. Yesterday I hit a nail in the center of the tread, but it punctured in a very uncharacteristic way. This prompted me to take it to a tire shop where they said "I've not ever seen something like this before where the belts are separating on all tires like this. " I drive ~12k miles per year in residential areas and have kept my tires at 31psi. Out of curiosity, I looked online for recalls and found this same tire (but in different sizes) having recalls for this exact reason. Might it be possibly that my size too should be included in the recall but was somehow overlooked due to being a less popular size?.

8 Tire problem of the 2009 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 06/13/2023

I was advise by one of the mechanic to change tires immediately. Since my grand daughter occassionally drive the card, due to safety, we bought 4 set of brand new good year assurant outlast tires immediately (235/55 r18) from walmart at farmingdale, NY on 6/12/2023 at 8:00 pm. Walmart stated that they could not put tire on my car for another week so I decided to take tires to my local mechanic who put all 4 tires next day in the morning. All tires were installed; however, after driving for about 15 miles, I saw my car pulling. I pulled in safe area and notice that the car was tire was flat. I towed car to the mechanic who installed it. He stated that tire is leaking from side and is no good! I went to walmart to complain about the tire. They punted the problem to call good year. I called good year at 1800-321-2138 to file complain (no 1834147). Aparently,, good year tire technian looked in hurry at the tire and stated that is road side issue and punted problem again. They stated that they will provide 50% tire cost if we buy again. I believe there is defect in the tire which good year (and walmart) are not owning upto and giving run around. I still have the tire and I want NHTSA to investigate further on root cause esp since I do have 3 other tires installed and my grandaughter is driving. If you have any questions or concerns please call at 516-424-6675 (my son pragnesh) or me at 516-424-6675 (pravincshah2k@yahoo. Com). Thank you.

9 Tire problem of the 2015 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 06/08/2023

225/60r18 100h mileage on car when tires purchased 33,410(11/4/2021 mileage when tire failed 40,702. (6/8/2023) these tires have a 50k warranty. At 40,846 (6/26/2023) two more tires failed. I was told tread separation was issue. This dealer put my family at risk! when the car went in for shaking they said the tire was defective. They replaced it and charged me $214, the tire only cost $150 new. I asked if the other tires were ok, the girl I paid said "the bad tire was from a different batch than the three remaining tires and they were ok. " 2 weeks later 2 more tires go bad, putting us back in the car with defective tires put my family at risk. This dealer is dishonest and dangerous. They charged me for 4 new tires total cost $492. 35 when the set only cost $600 new and we only received 15% of the use of the tire, before they went bad. 1 tire going bad is unfortunate, 3 tires same problem is a defect and they should have been replaced no charge. Anyway you need to get these tires off the road before someone has a serious accident or possibly already has.

11 Tire problem of the 2020 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 06/08/2022

235/55r20 102v michelin premier ltx, premature wear, tires falling apart in layers & chunks, caused premature failure of front left strut on Lexus Rx350. Started at 24,000 miles. Tires create an oscillation, causing you to think a tire balance issue, no alignment issue in the onset of problem. Tire tread not wearing but appears to be melting and becoming brittle. Road weight balanced and numbers varied per location of tire original tire driver front read 14-15 pushing to close to the 20 number and giving perspective of internal or manufacturer defects or construction issue. My vehicle has been back to the Lexus maintenance shop for tire balance check, test drives, discovered left front strut was failing & replaced, alignment checked, tires checked again, then again at the shop days apart due to oscillation feeling continuing, tires road force balanced, test drive & again taken back with information of GMC bulletin for tire premature wear with an NHTSA. I’ve tracked complaints of premature wear/material failure issues from videos/reports online as well. This is a 60,000 mile tire/warranty failing at 20-25,000 miles. The tire problems only lead me to believe this could be another firestone situation if left unchecked. It’ll impact vehicle owners & dealerships: repair & research time, money, premature vehicle component wear & repairs for allowing defective products to be allowed on us roads. Definitely not needed at this time of inflation & limited supply of replacement parts & tire products. I did contact michelin customer service to file complaint/claim (#02983306) and informed the representative that this had been an issue for the month of June & didn’t feel it safe to have these tires on the road and also don’t want any further premature wear/failure of components to my vehicle or endanger myself or loved ones.

12 Tire problem of the 2020 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

Original equipment in Lexus Rx 350; michelin premier ltx 235/55/20 at less than 2 years and 14, 00 miles run advised by the manufacturer to replace for a new one because premature tire deterioration with risk of impending tire rupture. Advised that they have seen a situation is occurring in the same vehicle and these specific tires. Yet no recall and the replacement at the owner's expense. Same situation in the 4 tires. This is a safety issue that both te tire manufacturer and that car dealership are aware of.

13 Tire problem of the 2021 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 01/06/2022

I had previously owned a 2018 Lexus Rx350l that came with oem michelin premier ltx tires. That car handled very well on rain, snow and ice. I eventually replaced those tires with continental crosscontact lx25 that were even better to the point that I woud say they were excellent on snow and ice. When I purchased my 2021 Lexus Rx350 f sport, it came with bridgestone ecopia h/l 422 plus tires in 235 / 55 r 20. The bridgestone tires were more prone to hydroplaning but I was able to adjust driving in wet rainy situations. The bridgestone tires however are absolutely useless in even the slightest dusting of snow. They are prone to locking the anti-lock brakes at single digit speeds and are resistant to making even slight turns or steering corrections. On the morning of February 6th 2021 I experienced driving in light snow for the first time with new car equipped with the bridgestone tires. While making a right turn, I noticed that there was a multiple car accident on the road I was entering. As I had only begun to enter the turning lane, I decided to abort that turn. I attempted to ease the car back to the left but it would not correct. At this point, I was at single digit speeds already and I pressed the brakes. The anti-lock brakes locked and the car began sliding forward regardless of steering input. I released the brakes but they remained locked which I assume is because the car kept them applied because it was sliding. I slid into a car at the opposite stop light. After the accident, I drove to an empty parking lot and attempted snow driving maneuvers such as stopping slowly and making gentle turns. These tires proved incapable of the slowest, gentlest of maneuvers in a light snow situation. I am attaching both the review and ratings from the tire rack website which support that these "all season" tires should likely not see rain and are most definitely dangerous if not deadly on snow and ice.

14 Tire problem of the 2009 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 11/19/2021

I am writing to address faulty cooper evolution tour 100v tires - tread separation in 3 years and 5,102 miles. Attached are 2 documents that will indicate the following: 12/05/2018 4 cooper evolution tour 100v tires purchased at tire kingdom pompano beach florida $ 501. 89 @ 81,140 miles. 11/26/2021 4 michelin primacy mxm4 tires purchased at j m Lexus margate florida $1,035. 92 @ 86,242 miles. We traveled to venice, florida on 11/15/2021 and returned 11/19/2021. On our return trip the car (2009 Lexus Rx350) began to shake and vibrate violently! we were scared and concerned for our safety ! we immediately brought our car to j m Lexus to correct this dangerous situation! they indicated tire tread separation had occured, and all 4 tires needed to be replaced. Incidentally, I own 2 other Lexus Rx350's in connecticut, and I have cooper tires on both. No problems with the 8 connecticut cooper tires. In searching your web-site I notice NHTSA recall no. – 19t-024 for cooper evolution tires. This may be applicable and provide NHTSA support for my claim of faulty tires. In response to the above NHTSA general guideline bullet point questions: the tires failed and have been disposed of by jm Lexus. We thought the car was going to crash it was shaking so violently! jm Lexus dealer determined the cause as faulty tires. Only jm Lexus examined these tires. No warning lamps or alarms. This problem first appeared on 11/19/2021 on our return trip (210 miles) from venice florida to pompano beach florida. Tire size 235 /55 r18 100v cooper evolution tour. P. S. From the very first day that I bought these tires 12/05/18 I was suspect of them because all 4 had an excess of material on the edge of the tires that was never trimmed off properly ! I these made me wonder if they were defective in some manner ?.

15 Tire problem of the 2016 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

I brought my vehicle in for damage sustained due to flooding from hurricane ida. I was told that part of the damage was to 3 tires. I was later informed that the tires need to be replaced due to wear & tear. This vehicle had 18,969 miles of local driving at the time. I’ve never heard of tires being “worn out” on a vehicle purchased brand new with such low mileage. There has to be some kind of defect!.

16 Tire problem of the 2002 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 07/31/2021

4 new tyres were installed by firestone but driver side wore out despite balancing rotation, alignment performed during install. Tyreplus sister concern replaced with new tyre and prorated as the tyre was at fault. Same tyre blew out on the road. The tread, side all etc damaged the wire harness and car went out of control causing damage to suspension and fuel tank. Fuel began to leak. Car is toatled due to several other damages. Tyreplus does not want to take ownership. However they have all records of up to date maintenance. They referred me to bridgestone wherein I need to submit 2 estimates. Tyre purchase dates maintenence etc. I have secured the tread and parts of the tyre which blew out and they want me to submit that. I am hesitatnt to submit it as they may tamper with the proof I have to fix it.

17 Tire problem of the 2010 Lexus RX

Failure Date: 09/20/2011

Lexus Rx 450h. 2010. Was purchased brand new from the dealership. All maintenance was performed at the same dealership the car was purchased. Single owner. Twenty months later (at 34,000 miles) all 4 tires are no longer good at the inner edge. Two possibilities: 1) the tires were bad quality; 2) the dealership failed to balance and rotate the tires. For safety, I had no other choice to change them. I am very dissatisfied.
