Have a Lexus RX 300 1999 model with 4x4 drive. The car ran ok for 80,000 miles or so. Our current mileage is around 81,000. The car was being driven on an expressway when it got really slow (15 mph) and then stopped on its own. I barely avoided a major accident. Anyways, I took the car to a repair shop and they tell me the transmission needs to be replaced and will cost me 4800 to do so. Please help. Apparently this is a very common problem for RX 300 1999-2000 models. The google search online brings up tons of blogs mentioning the same problem. . Read more...
