2001 Lexus Rx300. Consumer writes in regards to air bag malfunction. The consumer stated he was traveling west at 30 mph. A vehicle traveling south ran a stop sign and attempted a left turn. He was unable to stop and collided with the vehicle that ran the stop sign. The consumers vehicle encountered significant damage to the drivers side front end and hood. The air bag did not deploy, at the time of the crash. He was able to brace himself from the impact. However, he did suffer upper back and neck discomfort. Both the fire department and police arrived at the scene and the driver that ran the stop sign admitted her fault.
Both driver and passenger air bags failed to deploy upon front impact with a tree.

Tl- the contact owns a 2002 Lexus Rx300. The contact stated that while parking vehicle, there was an abnormal increase in engine rpms as the vehicle accelerated independently. The vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into a fence before coming to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy and the contact suffered injuries to the right shoulder. The vehicle was not destroyed. The contact called the manufacturer and the manufacturer sent a technician to examine the vehicle failure. The technician stated that because there were two flat tires on the vehicle due to the sudden acceleration, the vehicle could not be properly examined. The failure mileage was 135,000. The consumer was involved in an accident in which the driver's side air bag did not deploy correctly. The consumer indicated that the air bag only partially deployed after impact and when it deployed in was towards the center of the vehicle.
