Failure Date: 01/01/2018

We lately have had dashboard cracks or melting although we have garage maintained our car very carefully with very low mileage of 70,000 only. This is not healthy and very harmful to our Lexus experience. By the way, we haven't had such cracks until now due to our well maintenance so that we missed dashboard recall which was expired on may 31 2017.

My 2004 Lexus RX 330 has cracked all over the dashboard.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

The main dashboard is cracked all around the passenger airbag, ignition switch, from the driver side all the way to the passenger side. It is getting worse by the minute! it is part of the Lexus warranty enhancement program and I have been getting the run around for two years. Each time I call, its the same old story: 'not enough dashboards coming in and they are being replaced as they come in. " I am number 452 out of 1400 Lexus RX's that need replacement. Its ridiculous that in 2 years they haven't replaced a third of the dashboards??? its a scam, they are just waiting people out until they run out of time. Though they will tell you that the warranty passes to anyone you sell the car to but who is going to believe that?? they've wasted 2 years and aren't even close to replacing the dashboards.

6 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Dashboard is cracking and coming apart. It has become shiny to the point that it gives off a glare. I have a serious concern as to the safety of the vehicle in this condition. Since this could affect my safety, the safety of my family and other motorists, it should be corrected immediately. I contacted Lexus/Toyota and they are unwilling to fix the problem at this time.

7 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

Dashboard cracked.

8 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

This very meticulously maintained garaged vehicle began to crack over the top of the airbag on the passengers side. It continues to grow. It is now vertically cracked about 4 inches. It is always garaged parked at work and at home. The sun has had zero effect on this over the last two years of ownership. Not sure prior to the 2 years. I see from the internet this seems to be a common issue with this car.

9 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2012

Approximately a year after purchasing my 2004 Lexus Rx330 from a dealership the dash board started to crack. Eventually, it traveled across the entire dash board. I contact Lexus corporate office to complain. After referring me to a local dealership to examine it and take photos and write up the damage, they later told me it was not covered under the warranty which I already knew. However, they admitted it was due to inferior and faulty material Lexus used in 2004 thru 2006 in their models and also Toyota dashboards. The cost to replace the dash is $2,500 this is my 3rd Lexus SUV but it will be my last! I feel Lexus should be responsible to replace the dash boards.

10 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

My 2004 Lexus Rx330's dashboard has been cracking since the day I purchased it. The vehicle originated in florida and now in south carolina. The heat and humidity have destroyed this car! when I purchased it used, the dashboard had a couple of cracks in it so I assiduously used a window shield every single time I get out of the vehicle. The task is such a habit that I even do this unnecessarily at night! the heat inside the car still completely melts the dash to no avail. Sometimes when I turn the key, my fingernail will accidentally touch the dash material (it wraps so it surrounds the ignition) and the material will come off under my fingernail. Cranking your vehicle is not a forceful endeavor either, it is gentle and I am very conscious not to touch the dashboard material because of this melting issue. One would think that a brand such as Lexus would be embarrassed to have these vehicles seen in public!.

11 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2012

The Lexus developed a series of cracks running throughout the plastic dashboard. The cracks worsened over time.

12 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Parent CO, Toyota issued a voluntary replacement of dashboard due to cracked, sticky, shiny condition in what was an obvious attempt to stave off an official government recall and/or a class action. Parent CO, Toyota is now stalling by not supplying the dealers with said dashboards they promised to replace. I first brought this issue to the attention of my dealer in may of 2012. Even if the dealer was receiving the dashboards at the rate of 2 or 3 a week as originally promised, it would be another full year or more before they would replace mine. At this time, the dealers are receiving none and no dashboards are being replaced. This is not just a cosmetic issue, it's a severe safety hazard. In the case of my dash, which is completely covered with cracks, if the airbag is deployed at 200 mph those small little pieces of plastic will shred my face and the faces of anyone riding with me into hamburger. Considering the fact that the takata air bags can be deployed even when there isn't a accident, makes it even a bigger hazard. Enough is enough, the government needs to step in and issue an official recall and force Toyota to replace the dashboards immediately without any more legal stall tactics. The vehicle is essentially undriveable in it's present condition. I have health conditions that prevent me from working at this time and need the vehicle to get to my doctors. I couldn't afford to buy a new vehicle even if this one was in excellent trade-in value. It's been over 4 years for me, longer for others and will be multiple more years at this rate. I need a safe vehicle to drive, like the one I was promised when I purchased this one.

13 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The dashboard leather material has cracked income apart on top of where the passenger airbag sits.

14 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

Dashboard completely cracking all over. Front lights fogged over, cannot drive car at night time due to this due to safety hazard.

15 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2010

The vehicle dashboard has experienced abnormal cracking and decomposition throughout. It started with hairline cracks which spread all through the dash. Since the dash started to turn sticky/gummy, pieces of the dash started falling off near the ends (e. G. Where the dash meets the glove compartment). Of concern is airbag deployment in case of an accident. For example, since the dash has been compromised and has cracks, would the airbag deployment cause the dash to splinter and shoot pieces at the car's occupants? would the stickiness of the dash cause the airbag deployment to fail since it can stick to the dash due to it's newly acquired adhesive properties? visibility concerns arise due to the reflections of the dash on the windshield. Since the dash can no longer be kept clean because everything sticks to it, bothersome reflections are cast on the windshield during certain lighting conditions. The local Lexus dealership and Lexus corporate was notified and they inspected the vehicle. They said the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty and since my vehicle had not been serviced at the dealership, they would not pay to replace the dash; they did offer a 25% discount for the cost of the parts. From my research, it appears faulty materials may have been used by Toyota/Lexus for a period of some years as there are many reports of this same condition happening to other owners. Since there are safety concerns involved, I believe Lexus should be responsible and replace the faulty dashboards.
