Lexus RX350 owners have reported 2 problems related to transmission noise (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
There was a wining sound coming from under the hood. When I started my SUV up in the morning there was a loud wining sound. The sound lowered as the car warmed up, nut when I put the care in drive and accelerated the nous became louder. I took my car in to the dealer they said it has the power steering so I had them replace the power steering pump. But before they returned the car to me they called me and said the noise was still there and that I now needed a transmission overhaul. At 120,000 miles this should not be happening. I was told that they could clean the transmission oil motor pan and that could stop the noise for now. The dealer cleaned oil pan and the noise stopped. I and told that this is a temporary fix and that I will need a new transmission soon. I think if this is happening to others that there should be a recall on the transmission of the 2008 RX 350.

Upon taking delivery of new Rx350 I immediately noticed a transmission whine. I feel it is a safety factor because I am constantly thinking of the problem as I drive. My mind is not on driving as it should be. I immediately went back to dealer and shop foreman drove the car and heard the noise. He said don't worry as I have a warranty. This is not a viable answer to my problem. What if I break down in the middle of nowhere. Talked with sales manager and he stated wait until the 2010 model comes out. He would not do anything.
