1 Steering problem of the 2007 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 01/28/2019

While driving from florida to fairfax, CA the vehicle stalled ~10 time unexpectedly with loss of power brakes and power steering, making a very dangerous situation. The "check hybrid system and check vsc system" showed on the dash. Clearing the codes restarted the vehicle. I stopped in denver, CO at kuni Lexus of greenwood village, whom road tested the vehicle for 30 miles but were unable to duplicate the fault. Obdii dtc p3105 was read on my scanner before arrival. I have researched the failure more and found out on Lexus tis system; on 01/15/2014, Lexus of miami claimed to have completed safety recall 13v396000 (intelligent power module (ipm) solder failures) but they only diagnosed some other problems and did not have time to perform this recall, neither did the inform me of it! I stopped at Lexus of tacoma at fife, wa and they denied diagnosis due to minor body damage on the rear quarter panel where they claim water came in. This is not the location of water intrusion! the location is due to body seam cracks above that plain of the quarter panel damage, near the rear gate struts and hinges (see l-sb-0019-09), but they wouldn't look at that either and told me to go to their sublet body shop where the manager agreed with me that the water leaks into the high voltage battery pack/controller area was from the l-sb-0019-09 and not the quarter panel area. I sealed up all possible water intrusion areas and disassembled the hv battery pack area to see how much and where the water was (many photos) and dry it out with several days of sunshine here in fairfax, CA. I informed Lexus corp about the relative recall/sb and they denied to complete it! the vehicle is back together and I am waiting on your response. I can be reached by email (I don't carry a cell phone) thank you!.

2 Steering problem of the 2007 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 08/13/2018

I was driving on highway on speed of 65 miles per hour suddenly my power string and brakes failed. Luckily I didn't get an accident. After I came home and start researching I saw there are a lot of people with the same problem. Please make a recall for that maybe something happens to someone. Thanks.

While driving down a rural road at 45 mph, the power steering stopped working, the "ps" warning light illuminated on the dash, and I had extreme difficulty controlling the direction of the vehicle. 7 Steering problem of the 2008 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 11/16/2014

While driving back home from a road trip I noticed that the steering wheel started to shake and I heard a knocking noise. I was driving approximately 50-60mph. I slowed down and tried to pull over but before I could do so, my front passenger wheel (the entire rim and tire) broke off of the car. Luckily I had enough momentum and was able to pull the car over safely to the grassy shoulder. I purchased my car used back in 2012 and it only had 28,000 miles on it. This vehicle has always been serviced at a Lexus dealership (by the previous owners and by myself since I purchased the vehicle). I do not understand how anything like this could have happened. Luckily no one in my vehicle was injured and that the other drivers on the road were able to maneuver around my car and the tire that flew across three lanes of traffic on the highway I was driving on. The repairs to the vehicle was approximately $4,000.

8 Steering problem of the 2007 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Rx400h. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, the contact tapped a curb and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was restarted and functioned normally. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 87,000.

9 Steering problem of the 2006 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 04/01/2012

Traveling down the interstate between 75-80 mph, the car completely shut-off. Lost all power and "check hybrid system" lights came on. Was not able to restart the vehicle. It turns out that the inverter on this car was recalled in June 2011 and I was not notified. I took my car in for service in November of 2011 at the dealership where it was purchased, and they did nothing to resolve the problem. Saline kirkland at Lexus of mobile (service manager) said she found out about the problem one week ago.

10 Steering problem of the 2007 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

I have 2007 Lexus 400h and the vehicle drifts when it catches either a road crack when changing lanes or on certain roads where there is a small crown. The steering get tight on correcting it drifts to the other side. Steering also gives a tug or a wobble to when hitting certain cracks or bumps. The drift and tugs generally are to the right. Dealer says everything looks good and blames in on tires. My michelin tires with treadwear 450 are almost worn at 25,000 miles. I fear during snow this will be dangerous.

11 Steering problem of the 2008 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 08/25/2010

While turning into parking lot from road bumped the right front tire into curb at approx 4 mph. Power steering immediately ceased to function. Told by Toyota mechanic that a high voltage power spike destroyed the power steering computer. Paid $1050 for replacement of power steering computer. Does this mean a pothole can also fry the p/s computer.

12 Steering problem of the 2007 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 01/28/2010

The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Rx400h. While driving 10 mph on a snow covered road he lost control of the vehicle and hit a guard rail. He attempted to drive the vehicle and noticed that the power steering malfunctioned. The vehicle was towed to an auto body shop and the damage to the bumper was repaired. The power steering was not repaired. Lexus was contacted and advised the contact to file a report so that they could diagnose the failure which would take 4 to 6 weeks. The failure and current mileages were 50,000. Updated 04/01/10 the consumer was told a power converter failed in the power steering. Updated 05/05/10.

13 Steering problem of the 2006 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 01/10/2009

I was driving 2006 Lexus 400h when I noticed the power steering began to fade. Outside temp was 21 degrees and I traveled only 8 miles. I went out on the road a half hour later. I had to use two hands on the wheel half way to the store since power steering had faded greatly. When I got into the parking lot, I turned into a space and almost hit the car next to me because the steering just died. In any event, after grunting and using much muscle, I was able to get the car home. However, when I was making a turn at intersections, the wheel seemed to pulsate like power was coming on. Because I was putting much strength on the wheel trying to control the turn, I drifted close to the opposite lane twice and came within inches of a stopped car waiting for the light to change. I am unable to even steer the car now. The steering and front wheels will move side to side several inches just sitting there. The car has 35,154 miles on it. I know the manual says the electronic power unit will shut down if it overheats from overuse but that did not happen in my situation. It just progressively shut down. I fear that an elderly or a person without much arm strength would not have fared as well as I did.

14 Steering problem of the 2006 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 05/16/2008

My wife was driving on the nys thruway. She pulled off at a rest area. She was fully stopped waiting for a parking spot to open up when the steering wheel began to shake violently out of control. The front wheels were oscillating left and right in sync with the movement of the steering wheel. She turned the vehicle off immediately. After a minute she attempted to start it again. It started normally. As soon as she touched the steering wheel, the shaking resumed. She turned it off. By putting the car into neutral, some people were able to help her winch the steering wheel enough to push the car into a space where it stayed until a tow truck arrived. Some bystanders ?!@#$%.

15 Steering problem of the 2006 Lexus Rx400h

Failure Date: 09/08/2006

Making a turn into a parking spot, the steering mechanism experienced a failure that lead to an near inability to steer. The steering was so stiff with occasional uncommanded inputs that it was nearly impossible to use. Imagine the consequences of this type of failure during highway speed driving. . . . . Very unsafe!.
