My Aviator was parked with trunk open to load groceries from shopping cart. Must have stepped under bumper such that it triggered the kick sensor to close the tailgate. The problem is, it did not detect spouse’s body, did not stop the tailgate from closing & as a result, hit him on the head. He jolted out of the way & the tailgate continued to close all the way. This is serious safety issue!.

Reference my NHTSA complaint # 11681607 dtd 8/19/25 regarding the problem with autosense wipers that I’ve had since I bought my Aviator 2. 5 yrs ago. As I previously reported, problem was finally resolved in April when dealer replaced the autosense sensor. I have come to learn that the plastic covering dealer found on the sensor (see attached pic) is actually a protective film for part shipment & should have been removed by the assembly plant prior to installing the sensor but was not. There are other owners that have this same ‘wipers gone wild’ condition with autosense wiping in which the windshield does not clear enough for safe driving & you need to switch to manual wiper operation to clear the windshield. This plant assembly error should trigger a recall with all manufacturers that use this part, not just Lincoln.
I don't know the component or system that failed but sometimes when I am parked and put my car into reverse, the brakes lock up but my car will roll backwards. I have to either jam both feet on the brake pedal or quickly shift the car back into park and turn the car off and restart it. This usually will correct the problem. It feels like the brakes are locked and they are really hard to press. I drop kids off at school and this has happened in the parking lot several times with children walking behind me as I am getting ready to leave. I no longer am able to pull in forward to spots and have to back in to avoid reversing with people/cars behind me. I would rather hit a curb then potentially roll into a person or another car. I've taken it to the Lincoln dealership and they were not able to reproduce it or diagnose anything with it. Nothing shows up on their system as an error. It happens infrequently but I've owned the car since Nov 2024 and it's happened at least 10 times. My husband thinks its an electronic issue because it corrects itself when the car is restarted. It also randomly allows me to turn the wheel but the wheel does not turn back to 12. It stays at 3 but drives straight. This also is corrected by turning off the car and restarting. It has also been looked at by the dealership without any fixes.

The c-pillar trim applique/window division bar has detached on passenger rear side door. The c-pillar trim applique/window division bar is separating from the vehicle on driver rear side door. There is an open recall for this exact problem for 2020-2025 Lincoln Aviators. Despite having the issue on one side and the indication of warning on the other side, I am being told my VIN (for 2020 Lincoln Aviator) is not included in the recall. The separating trim on drives side poses a risk for other drivers if it falls off of the vehicle while driving.
On 4/17/25 at approximately 450pm eastern standard time the information hub on the dash indicated a door fault alarm and as I was turning left the doors unlocked and the passenger side door opened causing the passenger to almost fall out of the vehicle. If the passenger would have not had his seat belt on he would have fell out of the vehicle and potentailly been run over. I am worried about driving tbe vehicle as this sitiation could cause serious injury and cause a vehicle accident and loss of life.
I got an alert on the dash that said tire pressure sensor fault. It is for the passenger side rear tire. I had a dealership look at it and they said the sensor was fine and the battery was fine. They could not find anything wrong with it but it is still alerting. Now my husbands Lincoln mkz 2017 is doing it as well for the same tire, passenger rear.
The vehicle began making a low tapping noise in the front passenger side approximately 2 months ago, which has gradually become louder. It is much more apparent when driving at slower speeds. More recently the tapping noise has been accompanied by a squeaking noise when the wheel is turned, when driving over bumps, when removing the foot from the brake at a red light, when putting the vehicle into drive after being parked all day, as well as when anyone enters/exits the parked vehicle (leading me to believe it has something to do with the suspension). The front brakes were recently replaced and everything appeared normal when the wheel was removed by mechanic. Shields underneath the vehicle were also checked and are all appropriately tight, not loose anywhere. Exact problem remains unknown at this time, vehicle is scheduled for diagnostics at the dealership in just over a month from now.
Safety recall notice 24s35 / NHTSA recall 24v368, dealer claims to have repaired this recall. Problem persists. Lincoln/Ford motors customer relations refuses to assist.
I took my new car through the car wash I notice water go in the car some how and I could hear this gargling I thought it was coming from the a pilar. I also notice this when it rainned would do the same thing. I took it in to the dealership and they told that it was the drain lines from the moon roof. Two week later it rained again and took my car and could hear that same noise that water was in the car. I have called the dealership again to get back in so see what is causing this.

Pre collision assist warning, service advance track, 4 wheel drive fault all these codes showed up at the same time. Also the cheap fabric liners in the wheel wells are tearing under normal driving conditions.
The vehicle was already in for service once for this issue and is going back a second time the rear camera when backing up randomly starts to flicker and go crazy, and sometimes blanking out. The first fix replaced the camera to no avail. It seems to happen randomly, but about 50% of the time. I have video of the rear backup camera going crazy.
I have taken my car into the dealer at least five times due to the blue backup camera issue, I have been told by the techs that the camera has been replaced however I am still having the issue on occasion. On the early morning of Feb 16, 2024 around 5:30am, as I was backing out of my driveway I actually backed into my husband and knocked him down, he was walking behind my car, due to the blue backup camera I was unable to see him and none of the warning lamps or messages alerted me prior to impact.
I purchased the truck oct 2 2023/only 34 thous/miles by Jan 13 2024 I had to get serviced because it rained inside my car from under my rearview mirror when I would get in my car after it rained water would poor out from the interior light vents /got it serviced was told that Lincoln agents came in and fixed it/March 2024 had to repeat the call this time water went further across my windshield to the passenger side interior my daughter got wet not happy took it back again had a recall in July for camera/received October appt for maintenance windshield checked again had hard rain Nov 21,2024 once again it rained from under my interior light this time it was leaking as I was driving the other incidents I would not know until I moved my car from sitting still/when the rain stops and I drive I can hear water in the top of the car I was always told that the drains are working but something is very wrong also I have exterior strip pieces coming apart from my passenger windows I was told that it could not be fixed unless I replaced the whole window because it is one piece so I could try a auto parts shop to find some epoxy to glue them back/the truck rattles under the driver right side wheel when I crank it up/the speedometer changes when im driving as if its changing its on drive mode/I need some answers we are a military family and my husband is a medically disabled veteran I waited 3 years for this truck because I think alot about Lincoln I have only had this truck 1 year and a little over a month to be having all these issues we paid $45,000. 00 out the door so I feel that we deserve a remedy and some answers I'm tired of hearing about warranty's because this should not be happening to such a young vehicle at the price we paid and not to have it a year this is my transportation to transport my husband comfortably back and forth to va appointments which are 2 hour drives from our living quarters please help us find answers this can also affect electrical thank you.
Purchased the vehicle on Saturday. Lincoln motors had issued a stop sale on these vehicles due to back up camera recall issues. The stop sale has been lifted and we were assured that the back up camera recall had been fixed. We were contacted by Lincoln to trade in our vehicle due to the issues with the 2021 model and the unavailability of parts. Upon using the vehicle on Monday afternoon, the back up camera system crashed. The camera screen went blue, then black, crashed and then glitched. This resulted in a safety issue while backing out of our garage. The recall that Lincoln claims that they have fixed with additional parts has not been resolved. Lincoln motors should not be allowed to sell these vehicles.

The passenger door switch for the door release is inoperable which prevents the door from being opened from the inside. I’m scheduling a visit to the dealership for replacement. Loss of switch operation prevents easy exit during an emergency due to not having a mechanical backup release mechanism as on the driver side door. The vehicle did not notify that the door switch was inoperable.
When I am inside the car, the button to open the door from the inside (drivers side) is not working. As of right now there is no way to exit the vehicle from the drivers side. When we called galpin Lincoln to make an urgent appointment since this is a safety issue - they said there was nothing they could do and we go online and make an appointment for a month++ out. My safety is currently at risk as there is no way for me to safely get out of my car since the door does not open from the inside.
Hello. My name is christopher smith and I have a potentially serious issue with my car and Lincoln refuses to look into it. The short story : when you press the brakes moderately or harder( as if stopping for a yellow light ) it sounds like you’ve run over a brick or hit a big pothole. It has been in 6 times and to 3 dealerships and they all say it is normal for Aviators and explorers. I have owned an auto repair shop for 12 years and my guys fix 2000 cars per year. I am an ase master certified mechanic and I can assure anyone that there is nothing normal about this bang. They tell me they drive a like vehicle and if it also makes noise, there is nothing they can do. I have reached out to Lincoln concierge multiple times and they tell me they will do nothing if a like vehicle also does it. I think of the 2019 pacifica that the lower ball joint pinch bolts comes out and folds the wheel under the vehicle. I have had 3 service managers drive the car and they have all told me that it sounds really bad and abnormal. I have been told by all of those managers that Lincoln enforces not doing any further diagnostics or repairs if they all do it. I did drive a 2023 Aviator with a service advisor and it did not make the same noise mine does. You can actually feel the noise in the steering wheel. I have pleaded with them to investigate the issue and at least let me speak with a supervisor about it but they refuse. I have asked the dealers to put a set of chassis ears on the suspension to pinpoint the sound and they say Lincoln will not let them. The vehicle has 33k on it and is still under full factory and extended cpo warranty. Can you guys look into this issue before someone gets hurt ? thanks for reading.

Top handlebar on passengers side fell off completely causing my mother a great fall. Nearly died the way her head bounced off on gravel with handle in hand. The SUV was only a month old. I have other people on a fb page stating their handle came off completely too but no accident like my moms. This is definitely a safety concern that a black label vehicle should have passed inspection before leaving manufacturing plant. Was reported to dealer and they directed us with Lincoln directly. Case was open and has been in general council over 30 days without a response. They keep coming up with suggestions such as take it back to dealer to get fixed and the dealer simply latched it on and telling us to be careful that it is not correctly put in and let us go this way. Lincoln has also advised to ask other Lincoln dealers for a second opinion? makes no sense. After numerous calls, emails, faxes, and mailed letters Lincoln concierge is stating that general council has tried contacting us back regarding this matter and has been unsuccessful. I find this very odd when they have a list of all contact methods for both my sister and I who have made complaint. We were told its 30 days for response and after the 30 days now concierge argues its 60 days. We have video of moms fall from ring camera and the handle was in her hand at fall. I have pictures of her bruises two weeks after incident, bruising on her shoulder was bad, and I have pictures of handle and roof of vehicle. I have not received not one sorry from Lincoln or "is your mother ok. " note* my mother was actually on her way to hospital that day, she has been battling an aggressive infection in the toe and was on antibiotic iv's daily and had her pic line in arm at the time of fall. We never really saw the fall until it dawned on me that the ring footage had been saved. My mom was afraid to say how bad fall was in concern of her treatment being stopped but incident was reported to her doctors and nurse.
The display on our 2022 Lincoln Aviator failed, again. It had been repaired by the dealer with a new rear camera. It failed to show the backup view, again, and also that display shows the controls for defrost and other safety features. It was a rainy day, so, we were without a display screen showing the backup camera and could not turn on our defroster as it is located on that dark screen, also. Our windows fogged due to no defroster, and, we had no back up camera view to show traffic behind us. We called the dealer and, they said wait for a recall, as one on the software is in the making right now. There was no warning that this would happen. After driving the vehicle and parking and restarting it, the display lit up again.
The panoramic sunroof exploded without warning while traveling at 70 mph on interstate 55 in southaven mississippi. Glass entered the vehicle resulting in cuts on front passenger arms. My husband was able to maintain control of the vehicle and exit safely on the next exit ramp. We notified southaven police and inspection of the vehicle by ourselves and the officer resulted in no foreign objects causing the explosion. The sound of the pressurized boom and following spray of glass shards was very dangerous and could have easily resulted in a vehicle crash or more serious injury from glass debris.
After dealer did 3 software updates for recalls I experienced 2 safety issues: 1) wiper blades now do not recline to the proper position. Right blade goes down past windshield & hits the plastic piece making an extremely loud whack. Left blade does not lower to proper position & obstructs the lower view of windshield & the washer on left blade no longer works. 2) more concerning is while driving in reverse (in rain & dark), the car came to a complete & sudden halt practically giving me whiplash & making an extremely loud crash sound. Car came to such a hard & sudden stop I thought I had hit a wall even though there was 1) no warning light displayed or sound to indicate an obstruction or pending crash 2) nothing displayed on rear camera. Got out to see what I hit & why car stopped but found nothing wrong. Proceeded to continue backing up & it happened again. The car went about 3’ more then same thing happened. Then another 3’ it happened a 3rd time. It jolted my neck 3 times leaving me in pain. This incident was extremely frightening given I’m a handicapped driver & could have been stranded somewhere alone unable to drive the car at all. I suspect these 2 safety issues are related to Lincoln’s recall remedy & software updates as nothing else was done on my vehicle during my recent service other than replacing the front grill emblem.
The backup camera and 360 degree camera periodically malfunction and display a blue image. The backup camera does not work again until I restart the vehicle. This has happened both on a roadway while parallel parking and in a parking garage.
I am writing to express my frustration regarding the unresolved issue related to recall 24v368 concerning the rearview camera image. This has been an ongoing problem for several years, and despite receiving multiple safety recall notices and scheduling appointments with your service department, the issue remains unaddressed.
Please see the attached email conversations and service records with Lincoln motor company (manufacturer) and kayser Lincoln (service center and dealer) regarding the issues with the display in this vehicle. I have had this vehicle into the service center 50 times in the past 2 years trying to get this display issue fixed - they have not fixed it. I have asked for a vehicle buy back - Lincoln has denied this request. I have filed or a lemon law complaint - Lincoln has denied this request. This is only the first 10 attachments of the 33 attachments I have in evidence - but I can only upload 10.
The vehicle back up camera and computer screen went totally dark and would not come back on, so that when I backed out of the garage, I could not see on the rear side of the vehicle, as to any pedestrians walking across my driveway , beside nor behind my vehicle. I drove the vehicle back into the garage and ran my errand in our other car. When I came back from the errand, I tried to get the screen up again, by starting the car, and the home page came on the screen, and when I put the vehicle in reverse, it once again, showed the rear view of the driveway and cross way, to see that there was no pedestrian behind me; putting any neighbor child who ran across my drive while the garage walls blocked them from my view, in danger. After that one instance, it hasn't done it since. Today, while in shop for routine maintenance, I mentioned it to the service advisor. He said "there's a recall out on that, " I said ,"will you fix it today while I'm here?" he said , "yes'. At home, upon reviewing paperwork ,about what was done, no mention of fixing the recall, nor seeing why the camera screen went dark, was made. So, I called the dealer and was told "there is no outstanding recall on your vehicle" they have told me I may make an appointment to leave my car at least a day for them to diagnose the problem. There was no warning , before the backup screen on my dash went totally dark. This was one time and, on may 27, 2022. Our vehicle barely has 1000 miles on it. We bought it new in January, 2022. Since the dealership did not write down my complaint, I decided to give you a written statement.
I have had multiple check engine light issues where the description is "malfunction indicator lamp - regulatory" and the detailed description is a problem with the evaporative emission system (evap). My cell phone app says fuel vapors are being detected. Three separate times, this check engine light has come on. Three separate times I've brought the vehicle to the dealership. My car only has about 2577 miles on it. It came back from the dealer on Monday -- and today, Tuesday, the check engine light is back on for the 4th time.
This vehicle has been recalled at least twice for a faulty rear camera system. When vehicle is put in reverse the image on the screen flips so bad you cannot see what is behind you. The previous recalls were for this, we had it in the shop twice before the 2 recalls plus the two recalls (4 times) and cannot get a properly working rear camera. This is a safety issue because we rely on the camera for blind spots during reverse and to see behind this large vehicle. Ford cannot figure out how to fix.
The instrument cluster gives multiple message fault. Navigation and voice activation inoperative. Lincoln cannot resolve the issues. Lincoln has reprogrammed and reset the system and the issue still exist for over 3 months. Lincoln stated the apim must be rework and they do not know when this will be provide with new date. The phone, radio/sirius sometimes won't change and the screen freezes up at random. I have 17746 miles and still under full warranty and Lincoln won't replace system.
I have been reporting an issue for over two years with multiple dealerships regarding a sulphur and other strong exhaust smell. This sulphur smell is most problematic and occurs most often at least one per day. This issue started off intermittently but is now occurring as increase frequencies. The Lincoln dealerships tell me this is normal. I am not sure what system is exactly failing as no codes are being presented (so says the dealership. This smell is so strong and can be easily smelled in the car but even more once opening the doors or hatchback. I have children that breath this air as well as myself. Often children (my own as well as school friends for which we give rides to) complain about this smell and it is very noxious in nature. This issue has been reported to the dealership multiple times (actually reported to two dealerships). Often, I am being told this is "normal" due to gas used. In beginning they would not even log my concern, but this past year I have been submitting online. Always no code so no issue. No other troubleshooting is done. I have even requested additional basic troubleshooting data and not received. This is not a normal smell, as the Lincoln dealership(s) suggest. This smell makes us feel unpleasant. This smell is strong and is hazardous to the health of my family and others. I need Ford to take this issue seriously. Symptoms experienced indicate there is likely a problem with the catalytic converter and they are not addressing.
Screen/image flickers intermittently when rare & front cameras are engaged. I am uncertain of the cause. It happens randomly & sometimes several times a day. Problem started right after I received the vehicle from the dealership. I have couple of videos of the issues & I can share if requested. I took the vehicle to the dealership & they updated software of the vehicle but it didn’t not resolve the problem. I believe malfunction of the cameras increases risk of crash.
The rear back-up camera regularly fails during vehicle operation, sometimes as soon as the vehicle is turned on. Turning the vehicle off and then on again will fix it temporarily. According to vehicle recall number 21v223000, the image processing module may become unable to provide video feed to the display, resulting in a loss of backup camera image. Not stated in the recall is that this has also affected (optional) side and forward cameras on the vehicle. These fail less frequently than the rear camera. The loss of video from the rear camera increases the chances of the driver running into something or someone while reversing. The vehicle has been submitted multiple times to the dealership where it was purchased in order to have it repaired. Each time the service department failed to repair it but sent it back as if it was repaired. The problem first arose a few months after the vehicle was purchased, and the instances of camera failure have increased over time.
Lane keep assist does not keep vehicle in the center of the lane, but pulls the vehicle to the left almost on top of the strip dividing lanes. Since I first purchased the Lincoln Aviator, the center screen used to interface with audio, hvac, settings and especially apple carplay goes completely black hence losing many controls. This has been consistent since I purchased the vehicle. Lincoln has tried to repair the vehicle several times without success. I lose the back up camera also. I have to stop and shutdown the vehicle and the screen reactivates. I have address all previous Lincoln recalls on this vehicle.
Lincoln had a recall on the rear view camera in 2021 which I completed that did not remedy the issue of blue screen in place of the camera. They released another recall and have continuously delayed it as they have no remedy so my vehicle is left without a functioning rear view camera.
Display screen /rear camera goes blank and displays error message intermittently part for image processor was replaced and still occurs this happens when driving and also when in reverse.
The back up camera is only working about 40% of the time. Most times there is just a black screen with a message to contact the dealership. This started the day I purchased the 2020 Lincoln avaitor which was 10/9/2020 dealer said there is supposed to be a recall coming.
