1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 02/20/2025

Driving 75mph. Cruise set to 75mph. Vehicle randomly reset cruising speed to 85 and 105mph or two separate occasions over 4 days. I went through the settings and disabled intelligent cruise control and switched it to adaptive cruise control, which doesn't use radar and navigation data. Only tell will tell if that fixed it. I already had speed sign recognition disabled.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 09/13/2023

Unknown on several occasions the vehicle would just shut off. Another occasion while getting on the freeway I pressed the accelerator pedal and the car pumped the brakes, there was no one in front of me or on side of me upon entering the freeway. Another incident I was in the fast lane on the freeway and the vehicle just shut off thank goodness the fast lane had a place where I could pull over and and restart the vehicle. Also where the vehicle pumped the brakes, that happened on several occasions. Another thing the vehicle shut of again in the middle of the street. I couldn't put the car in neutral the steering was locked. All of incidents were extremely dangerous. The vehicle has been in the dealership shop twice now and I mentioned it to them on both occasions. And I was told it was the battery. That starts the engine not battery for the eclectic system. I was also told that they did diagnostic check of the software system and there were no systems alerts it was only showing the battery. Now I now that when you drive a vehicle the engine battery charges, plus the vehicle in a 2021 with only 35,000 miles on it.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2023 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 08/11/2023

Once again, my vehicle exhibited immediate and sudden power loss while at highway speeds. Ironically, I was in transit to my dealer for the third time for this issue within my vehicle's 3,000 miles. This is incredibly unsafe at any speed, especially at highway speeds without warning. An uncommanded slowdown without any response from the accelerator pedal, and a warning on the gauge cluster stating "vehicle is slowing down". Cruise control at this time was not operational in the vehicle (another issue) and I was using my foot to control the speed. Additionally, the bluetooth connection was not functioning, the navigation screen nor map would even load, and I was unable to use cruise control due to an error message "cruise unavailable". We get a separate Lincoln Aviator for a loaner, and not only does reverse park assist not work, the rear camera doesn't function, either. These cars are dangerous and need to be recalled immediately and taken off the road. We plan to sell/trade ours as the soonest possibility and incur whatever financial burden that may come with it. It's not worth my family's safety, or that of someone else.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2022 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 03/22/2022

On 5 separate occasions my car has given me a warning saying "stop safely now. " when I begin to slow down, the car looses all power and I have to coast to a stop somewhere. The first time the car started back up and I was able to drive it again, the following 4 times it had to be towed. Each time I was stranded on the side of the road - once literally on the road because I was unable to get onto the berm because of high snow drifts and the car just stopped, which was a huge safety issue. Each time this has happened it has taken approximately 3 hours for a Lincoln approved tow truck to come and get the vehicle leaving me stranded in the freezing cold with multiple children and no heat in my vehicle. My speed has varied each time this has happened. One time I was in park, another time I was doing 60+mph and the others were in-between these speeds. I have multiple videos of what happens and have provided them to Lincoln. Lincoln has replaced the battery and also the powertrain control module and nether of these have corrected the problem.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2022 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 02/18/2022

A warning appears on the dash "stop safely now" and the vehicle rapidly comes to a complete stop and is unable to be moved. This has occurred on three occasions, during 2 of which the car stalled in an active driving lane on a highway, resulting in life threatening situation. The app said "high voltage battery warning" triggered by "another event". Being investigated by Lincoln, who is re-acquiring the vehicle due to inability to appropriately diagnose and resolve the issue.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2003 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 08/13/2013

I was backing out of my driveway into the street. Once I was in the street, I put the car into drive and stepped on the gas. The car went the opposite direction- reverse. I double checked the gear shift ( in the center of the vehicle), it was "d" for drive. I made sure it was in the d, and stepped slowly on the gas, and it went into reverse. I tried to apply the brakes, but they didn't engage. I quickly stepped on the emergency brake, and that stopped the car. Fortunately, I was in a cul-DE-sac with out other pedestrians or vehicles at the time. It was extremely dangerous to have a car where the shift isn't engaged at all. The vehicle has been always maintained by the Lincoln dealer, and it is being towed to that dealership at this time. It's too dangerous to drive.
