One problem related to speed control cable has been reported for the 1998 Lincoln Continental. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Ongoing problems: whenever vehicle is going down hill with speed control engaged it causes vehicle to speed up to 10-20 mph more then the setting. Dealer notified and replaced contact valve and speed cable and condition still occurring. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter.
