2 Equipment problem of the 2018 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

At issue is the on board display “park brake limited function service required” sometimes followed by flashing brake light. When this happens vehicle needs to pull over and stop and release the parking brake to go back to normal. . Also, there are times when light flashes ithe alarm goes off. Multiple times to shut off. The diagnosis was a faulty abs-module, which is now obsolete by Lincoln. We have tried many venues to find one and major parts house said he found none available in the u. S. Talking with Lincoln they had no answers. Question not answered by Lincoln are we at risk driving this vehicle. At the time vehicle drives great, since the abs-module affects other main parts of the vehicle, we are worried if another function is disrupted will it cause an issue. Such as an accident. Question, can we continue to drive this car safely. All information I’ve included can be verified by korum Lincoln in puyallup, wa. 253-845-6600. The obsolete abs-module is the problem. Our safety is a concern!.

3 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

The front right door does not close. The door swings open and does not latch creating a safety issue for the passenger riding in the front seat. My car is presently at planet Ford in houston texas where they are charging me $2000 for the repair, which I feel is not my fault for this defective issue. This problem did occur earlier but we were able to correct it by clicking the lock. That is no longer working for us, so we took it in for repairs.

4 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 06/17/2024

The driver side rear passenger door would not latch closed and had to be secured to drive to dealer through the use of a seat belt through the inside door handle. This occurred at approximately 79,000 miles. This repair was not covered by dealer. This was a latch and motor repair of $1,000, also caused an expense of an additional $550 to me of a rental car as dealer did not get a part for 6 days. Lincoln concierge could care less, just awful customer relations from Ford/Lincoln.

5 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 01/15/2024

The driver side passenger door handle failed and would not open from the outside. This occurred at approximately 75,003 miles. This repair was just outside my extended vehicle warranty.

6 Equipment problem of the 2019 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 10/28/2023

Lightly leaned on door when it was shutting, making it so it wouldn't shut all the way, soft close system engaged jamming the door and making it impossible without destroying the door/motor to open even with the emergency release latch in the map compartment of my vehicle (driver side under the electronic release button) the door eventually threw up an error letting me know the door was malfunctioning and was ajar when it wasn't. I had to climb over to the passenger seat to get out and after trying to figure out a way to release the door with about 5 minutes of effort the door finally released by holding the open button and pulling constantly at the cost of the soft close motor and a constant error message on screen with a yellow wrench on the dash. No other info on other faults are known as of yet. I have not been able to bring it to a dealer as of yet but I will update this as soon as I do I can probably reproduce it on another door but I fear doing so will have a chance to never being able to open the door again. This can be a huge issue in the event of an emergency where you need to spend extra time to break the window or crawl out and if the car lacks power with doors lock no door can be opened as the emergency release latch only works on the drivers door.

Drivers door latch will not lock/engage after opening door.

9 Equipment problem of the 2018 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 07/09/2022

On July 09, 2022 I delivered my vehicle to heller Ford 700 main street el paso, IL, (309) 527-6050 to have my original cabin air filter eeplaced with a unit which I supplied. Their technician performed a commendable removal of the original unit. He found the original motor craft cabin air filter had deteriated to a black fragmented crust which had clogged the blower motor to the extent the motor had to be removed and bown out, and reinstalled prior to the instillation of the new filter! I have no reservations against heller Ford and it service facility staff, mine is with Lincoln my car had 56,687 miles at the time of the service, the service manual recommends changes be made at 20,000 - 30,00 miles. My vehicle is highway driven no city stop and go traffic, I asked the sevice staff if they ever seen a cabin air filter in such shape- they said no I purchased my vehicle from sutton Lincoln/Ford in 2018 new off the lot and this vehicle is used for 100% pleasure driving. I feel the cabin air filter was defective when it was installed at the factory! I contacted Lincoln way - case # 37545937 c/o joan turetsky claim service mgr. Little of no help (1-800 - 521-4140) I feel I should be reimbursed for my efforts due to a defective filter.

10 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 04/19/2022

Drivers side rear door wont unlock.

11 Equipment problem of the 2018 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 01/21/2022

The electric door latching mechanisms fail to fully latch the driver's door shut when pulled to the first detent. In order to fully engage the door latches, it was necessary to slam the door. The first occurrence coincided with unusually cold weather (34 degrees f). These door latches had previously been the subject of a recall which first delayed the dealer's ability to sell the car to me. Then, suddenly, even though the parts were reportedly still unavailable, the dealer claimed to have been able to use company connections to obtain parts early and claimed to have carried out the recall before selling me the car in April 2019. About a year later, the latches malfunctioned, draining the car's battery over the course of about two days, after which, the same dealer "reprogrammed" the latches and replaced the battery. Now trouble with the same door latches emerges again.

12 Equipment problem of the 2019 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 09/28/2021

I am not aware of an accident involving this defect. I am reporting a safety concern that occurred to me after I bought the car. All door controls(inside and out) are electronic. Doors are electronically opened by pressing a button. In the event of a crash that disables the electric system, occupants would be trapped in a locked car with no way to open the door. For this apparent reason, the driver's side door has a very small mechanical lever low on the driver's side door panel that will open the door in case of electrical failure. However, the lever is not conspicuous and many owners may not be aware of it's existence. Moreover, the driver's door is the only door with a backup mechanical lever to open the door. In a crash, it may not be feasible to remove all occupants through the driver's door. In the event of a crash that disables the car's electrical system and damages the driver's door sufficiently to prevent opening, all occupants would be trapped in the vehicle. If occupants are also exposed to fire or water hazard, it could easily result in a fatality. I believe that NHTSA and Lincoln should consider a recall to install conspicuous mechanical levers in all doors, or alternatively, install a redundant battery backup system that would allow doors and window to be opened in the event that the primary electrical system is compromised in a crash. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

13 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

"takata recall", on April 25, I was traveling to atlanta, GA from virginia to attend a conference and stopped to get gas and my driver's door locked me inside the car. I had to use the latch to release the lock. I have contacted dealership about the issue and I have not received any remedy to this issue. My vehicle will not let me set the cruise control on the highway, the wrench light stays lit and I'm worried about what else maybe wrong. I'm afraid to drive my car that I'm paying payments on. It has been almost 5 months and still no remedy.

14 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

15 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 03/31/2019

We are dissatisfied with the level of service from the Lincoln motor company and serramonte Ford dealership in colma, California, with specific reference to the case, cas-1758606, recall 19s03 and NHTSA recall # 1v-077. Our vehicle's driver door will not close and is unsafe to drive. The ongoing issue has been problematic for victoria sedan & limousine. The vehicle has been at the dealership since April 1, 2019, and has not been resolved even after contacting serramonte Ford, Ford headquarters as well as Lincoln concierge. We were denied a loaner vehicle or any sort of compensation for time loss and the lack of effort in resolving this issue in a timely manner has forced us to take a financial loss, reassign the chauffeur who had the vehicle and put a strain on our operations. What makes matters worse is that we have learned that one of our partners; with the same type of business had the same issue with their Lincoln Continental. They took it to the Ford Lincoln dealership in concord, California and were given a loaner while their car awaited the defective part which has since been repaired. This raises the question as to why our operation was treated differently. We are reaching out to you to see if you can h assist us getting the issue resolved as the agencies mentioned were unable to do so.

17 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 02/14/2019

The doors on our 2017 Lincoln Continental open while driving. We called the dealership and they said they cannot fix it for another year. It is unsafe to drive because of doors opening at times and not unlocking at times too. We called the dealership as soon as we found out this problem last year and they just told us to call this year, so we did - so basically we have to wait 2 years to get our Lincoln fixed? doors open while driving. Doors will not latch while driving or stationary.

18 Equipment problem of the 2017 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 01/20/2019

At 49000 miles the left rear door would not open from the outside for a week. It then worked ok until 50500. We told the dealership and they said it was out of warranty. At 51000 miles now both rear doors will not work from the outside. If I am in a wreck there is no way to get anyone out of the rear of this car. I have purchased a hammer to get people out in an emergency. It seems a car rear door button should last longer than a year or two.

24 Equipment problem of the 1998 Lincoln Continental

Failure Date: 04/09/2014

I am one person among many that have been having many problems with the Ford front wheel drive transmission. Bought my 98 Lincoln Continental with 97000 miles on it, at 109000 miles had to pay 2400 to have the transmission pulled and rebuilt. I'm 65 years old and have never even hit the passing gear. At 155000 miles it had to get pulled again. 1500 dollars at thst time. Now with 175000 miles on it the check transmission signal is on again. I did not until now do any code checks or internet search, but I do believe that Ford knows they built a bad unit. Looking to find out if there have been any silent recalls or if your department has any information that could help me. My car is in mint condition and runs great except for the transmission. I remember reading that this problem was investigated or going to be looked at. Currently I get a p1744 code off the computer. I hope there is a silent recall or some info you may have that could help me.
