general problems of the 2000 Lincoln LS

On i95 car started hesitating, bucking I pulled off i95 and slowly bucked to work when I left work slowly drove home engine light came on and went to my mechanic. He checked the car out and said it is probably the catalytic converter, these Ls's are know for this problem. He said I could continue to drive it safely as I only put less than 5000 miles a year but eventually it will go. I went on line and so many people have reported the same issue with all different years of this model. It has acted up several times and then it settles down and drives okay, the check engine light is on again and I wonder why there has not been a recall on this car and issue as so many people have been on line about it, it must be a defect, probably why they stopped making this car. It is too costly to repair this car because of the age and its a shame as I only have 80000 miles on it. Automakers should be held liable for these defective issues.
